This is how I feel about my mid-90's chemo. It totally kicked my ass, but between it and a 9.5 hour surgery I no longer have a brain tumor. Worth every minute of hell to still be here.

Man, I needed this today. Last night in the ER I was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition in which I have too much fluid in my skull and it’s pressing against my brain and optic nerves.
The meds they’re putting me on are known to have brutal side events and I’m grieving tonight being able to eat and taste things normally. But, if I don’t treat this, my optic nerves could literally die and make me go blind.
So yes - I believe it will be every minute of hell to see my loved ones’ faces every day ❤️

Hey, I went through six rounds of chemotherapy for my breast cancer and it was a breeze. I got tired. I had a few side effects but honestly, I never threw up once and it was pretty easy. There are tons of us out there. We just don’t post about it. Take every single drug that they tell you to take and direct message me if you need any help.

Currently going through Chemo and after every round I think "How am I going to survive another one??" Somehow my body does but it definitely doesn't get easier. I look forward to the part where I have more behind me than ahead, but right now I still have 4 more months to go. 😭😭

Right now. Have terminal cancer. Had my ups and downs but last week a tumour was pressing against one of my lungs and I was in unbearable pain for a few days, thankfully on good pain killers now. But had 90% of my stomach removed, most of my esophagus removed and a years worth of chemo so far. Despite that my spirits are still high and I'm enjoying time with my friends and family and getting out there doing shit.

I'm in the same boat as you, mate. Terminal renal cancer. I've lost too many organs from the damage done, including most of my stomach too. I guess I've been somewhat lucky as I've never had chemo (it's not effective against renal cancer), but my hair has still fallen out because I am radioactive (my current treatment involves radioactive agents). I'm well and truly past my use-by date, but any extra time I have now is just icing on the cake. I can't work anymore but I get to enjoy my time with my kids, family, and friends.

Oh man, this is so similar to my worst sickness.
It was a week after surgery and I couldn’t hold anything down. Was in the hospital for a few days. I shit the bed, as you do, and decided to try and shower off.
Stripped naked and sat on the toilet. This guy comes in to fix the clock, sees me covered in shit with my IV bag, asks if I need a nurse. I said yes. She comes in, takes a look at me and calls someone else to clean it up. Ok, cool. Whatever. Two more people show up and ogle my naked, shit covered body. Finally, another CNA shows up and offers to get me soap and a towel. I could have kissed her.
Sigh. It was humiliating but also pretty hilarious. 0/10. Would not try again.

Having cleaned up more than one person that shit on the floor, then slipped in it and busted something important, I’m sure they were wondering the best way to get you back to bed safely.
Nurses find a lot of stuff funny that most people might not, but shit is so ordinary. 99% of us have the ‘better out than in’ mentality.
Plus, we catch all the gastric bugs and most of us have shit ourselves too. Some of us at work!

I had to rhabdo one time and was in the hospital on LOTS of fluids for five days. I had to pee in a bedside commode and the nurses had to periodically empty it so they could measure to make sure my kidneys were working (I guess?). One of my nurses was super pregnant and didn’t come as often as the others, and boy was I filling up that bucket! One time she came and it was SUPER close to overflowing, so it was obviously heavy. Halfway accross the room she dropped it 🫣. It was like a pee tsunami…pre everywhere! She let out the loudest fuuuuu**! I felt so bad for her but it was really hard not to laugh at the situation. Luckily I was extremely well hydrated and the pee was really diluted, and she didn’t have to be the one to clean it up. I could tell she was so done with everything at that point.

My wife had minor nasal surgery a couple of weeks ago. In pre-op, she said she had the urge to pass gas. I told her not to trust it and to tell them she needed to use the bathroom before the anesthesiologist got there. She came out and told me was glad she listened to me. 😂 Never trust a fart.

TL;DR I fell down a flight of stairs while suffering from gastroenteritis.
Many years ago, I was a broke college dropout, working a dead end job. I had a one bedroom apartment in a not so great part of town. Good news, it was cheap enough that I was able to save some money, bad news, it was a tenement in every sense of the word. The building had a flea infestation, piss poor radiator heat, no a/c, and the shower didn’t drain effectively. I lived on the third floor, there was no elevator, and the stairs were most definitely not up to code. Wooden stairs, some were wider or narrower than others, some were slightly slanted, dangerous on a good day. Put a pin in that, it’s important later.
I was lucky enough to find a small two bedroom ranch that was in my price range, as I ended my lease. I purchased the house, and three days prior to moving I came down with a uniquely bad case of gastroenteritis. I could do nothing but drink Gatorade and I was pissing orange jet fuel out of my butt hole. I was febrile, puking or shitting every 30 minutes, sweating and near delirium. The day where I was supposed to move most of my stuff I was barely functional. I was tremendously lucky that I had a few friends who saw me in such a sorry state, and did most of the work, while I weakly helped where I could.
The next day was meant to get the smaller stuff. Bags of clothes, end tables, boxes of cutlery etc. One of my best friends Tim, came to help, and I was at least able to pitch in. I still felt bad, but my bowels only needed to be emptied every 2-3 hours, the fever had broken, I was at least on the mend.
I was carrying down a Walmart pressboard tv stand on my back like an African tribeswoman carrying water back from the river down the stairs. On any normal day this would not have been a challenge but due to recent circumstances this was tantamount to one of the labors of Hercules.
As I round the last set of stairs, I start to feel like I need to poop again. About six steps from the landing, I’m focused more on clenching my buttcheeks and less on the wibblybibbly stairs I’m going down. I catch my heel on one of the steps, slip, and fall backwards onto my ass.
Upon impact I poop a little bit. The problem starts here. I fell backwards but momentum was still carrying me forwards. So I bounce down to the next step and when I hit, I poop a little more. The tv stand hits the stairs and explodes in a shower of splinters and chunks. I proceed to bounce down the next 5 steps shitting myself a little more with each impact. Finally my feet hit the pavement and I’m pulled to a squatting position.
At this exact moment, the situation is salvageable. My underwear are spent, but everything is still contained. However, I had just been through three days of hell, and my poor tired rectum could not remain closed under the Sisyphean pressure. The entire contents of my bowels, as well as every ounce of pride and dignity I have as man, came streaming out of my asshole. It ran rivers down both my legs, pooled in my shoes, overflowed and created little puddles of liquid feces on the concrete.
Tim hears this chorus of destruction out at the truck, and comes running. He screams “ARE YOU ALRIGHT!?”
“Noooo!” I painfully moan.
“WHAT HAPPENED?!” I hear his feet slap the pavement as he gets closer.
“I shit my pants,” I meekly sob.
He comes barreling around the corner and recoils as he hits the wall of smell. I’m standing there in two fetid swamp water bogs, somewhere in the liminal space between between passing out, and curling into the fetal position and crying. I’m surrounded by pieces of the now destroyed tv stand, as though I’m the living embodiment of chaos, sorrow, pestilence and destruction all rolled up into one fat white boy package.
He looks at me, and says “don’t worry bout all this, go upstairs and clean yourself up.”
It was a very quiet trip to my new home.

Got super bad food poisoning from the Chinese place down the street when I first moved to NYC. I was also leaking from both ends but what was worse was that I was alone in a new city across the country from my family. I didn’t even have the strength to get myself to the kitchen, let alone the grocery store or pharmacy. Basically spent 48 hours living on the bathroom floor and drinking from the tub lol. I remember when I was finally well enough to get to the living room and turned on Dead Space 2 which I had just gotten before getting sick but had to turn it off because I kept nearly shitting myself from the jump scares lol.

I got noro from my school aged kid. He puked like twice. I puked for a full 22 hours straight, no breaks, none of the few minutes right after where you get relief. My body was trying to puke again before the one before was finished. The sheer volume was unbelievable. Like, I've been sick before where my stomach was empty and I was throwing up bile, but this one was just gallons of projectile liquid as if it was pulling water out of my cells. I considered calling a doctor or a priest, but I was honestly too sick to hold a phone. I'm amazed at your perseverance, and you have my admiration for making it!

i got noro during the massive outbreak in 2024. like on christmas day. my partner actually had symptoms first, but she got over it in a few days. i know we got it from my job, i worked with kids at the time, and it was spread like wildfire throughout our clinic. all my coworkers had it, so many kids were out because of it. the line for the bathroom was insane. it truly was hell.
i would be sitting on the toilet with the trash can, because i would be having liquid come out both ends at the SAME TIME. i have never in my LIFE felt like that, and it was the worst physical experience i’ve ever had.
it’s like my insides were screaming at me (like you could literally HEAR how active my stomach was). i was so sore, dehydrated, delirious, and i actually did have a food ruined for me because of it. the night before i started showing symptoms, we had this trader joe’s gnocchi pasta that i was obsessed with. it never even digested for me. i can’t even eat it anymore. just thinking about it makes me queasy lol. it was so sad.
i hope i never get norovirus again.

Years ago a group of friends met at a wings place. I don't do spicy food so me and one other, a child of one of my friends (about 5 at the time), had mild wings and everyone else ate spicy ones.
It began that night both ends sometimes at the same time, and all through the night, the next day and evening. At one point I slept (passed out) on the floor next to the toilet. I was very sick. The child was hospitalized for 3 days and there was a few hours of heavy heavy concern.
To this day, I cannot even go into a wings place.

Kept getting nauseous and having the runs after eating wings at a certain place. Took a bit to pin it was them (like 3 tries) because it didn’t happen until the next day. I stopped eating there. Couple weeks later the health inspector rolls thru town and checks everyone.
They failed on a question. They were par boiling the wings (that’s fine) and then leaving them out in a pan near the fryer.

got food poisoning from a pizza joint once. we all sat down and were eating. someone asked what the construction was next door. sewage pipe burst. they were still open and serving pizza. i stopped eating but it was already too late. i had liquid coming out both ends for three days. i should have gone to the ER. i couldn’t move from bed and my bf at the time had to help me drink gatorade while writhing in bed. i filled our entire kitchen sink with vomit at one point. i legit have serious food aversions and straight up PTSD from it. cooking for me is a nightmare because i will use so many utensils and wash my hands raw as to not cross contaminate anything.

I once had it for a week straight. The only thing I could keep down were these baby banana teething crackers my son had. On day 5 I dragged myself to urgent care and was taken back immediately, no wait or anything. Zofran stat and an entire IV of fluids. Told me if this continued for 2 more days I needed to come back because it was clearly something more serious than just your normal food poisoning (ie ecoli, shigella, etc).
Luckily I turned a corner after that, but holy shit I had PTSD from it for years. Anytime I’d get the runs for a day I thought I was about to relive the hell i went through. Lost 10 lbs in 5 days. Wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.

Same. My eating disorder almost killed me at 17. I was in denial until I started experiencing severe heart palpitations and getting dizzy. Spent 3 months in an inpatient program at the hospital. My care team kept reiterating that I could have had a heart attack at any moment. I worry what long term health problems I may have in the future. I find my bones still ache, all these years later.

Covid for me too except nervous system flavor so approximately zero doctors had any clue what was going on, or why suddenly speaking/hearing speech made me want to cry, why light and sound (any volume) were extremely painful and overwhelming, and why I *couldnt* sustain sleep for weeks.

Covid sent my body berserk back in 2022. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. They called it post covid arthritis . Most pain I have ever been in. And mind you I’ve been cut open and had a human pulled out of me and then my tubes tied and stapled back together all in 1 sitting . The pain was worse than that ! But come to find out it was autoimmune flare . Come to find out the arthritis I had as a child that “went away” was actually autoimmune rheumatoid arthritis and mixed connective tissue disease . So I guess I was in remission for almost 40 years and covid bought it back with a vengeance 🤦🏾♀️

It was COVID for me too. I got sick during the period in which refrigerator trucks were filling up at the local hospital and nobody really knew what was going on, what to expect, or if there was even anything that could help. You couldn't even get help from a doctor or a hospital. People going to the hospital were basically at death's door already. Anyway, I've never been that sick in my life. Could barely breathe, fever, vomiting, pain everywhere, horrifying dreams in the few hours I managed to sleep, dizziness, heavy limbs. It took about two weeks to feel semi functional again, and then another full year not to be in constant pain, and longer than that to be able to sleep more than a few hours at a time. It is mind blowing that people are trying to rewrite that history while people like me are still alive who remember exactly how bad it was.

I had a very similar experience. My now husband had to help me get in and get out of the shower and I remember shaking and sobbing anticipating how cold it would be to get into bed.
I also would lay there, feeling just about dead, thinking “I need to drink water” and would have fever dreams of me going to the kitchen to fill my water and drink it.
I’m pretty sure it’s the reason I developed terrible migraines and (suspected and awaiting testing) POTS.

Whilst I was at home in bed unable to move, the residents in the nursing home I work in were dropping like flies. 18 residents and 1 nurse died in 2 weeks.

I got Covid 11/2020 and ended up in the ICU staring at the ventilator next to my bed and my OSAT because it was a hair above the threshold but barely holding.
Five days, $300k insurance bill (thank the maker wiped clean due to whatever COVID legislation), a month of missed work, and I nearly died. It’s been six years, and I got it again in 2023– not nearly as bad but still can’t taste or smell anything.
I axed SO many friends and acquaintances and lost 2/3 of my remaining family because “it’s basically allergies”.
The week I was fighting for my life BEFORE being hospitalized was one of the most jarring experiences for me. I remember needing to take a full sleep after trying to tie my hair back— that “allergy” was mighty… something.

Random question but have you heard of patients developing asthma after getting COVID but only when they’re sick? Every time I get a cold now post getting Covid I cough to the point I gasp for air, even just a common cold and had no respiratory issues prior or even when not sick.

Covid definitely wreaked havoc on a lot of people even if they did all the right things, including vaccination and boosters.
I personally have lifelong exercise-induced asthma, and it seems I barely have to do 3 sets lifting now before I gotta hit the inhaler. I tested positive for covid Summer 2021. My sister is STILL dealing with long-haul covid years later. Both of us were vaccinated when the Pfizer vax was made for public use.
I DON'T recall a single vaccinated patient death in my hospital, but plenty still had/have complications from the virus.
Oh, and thank you for the kind words. It really does mean a lot to us in the medical field. Shit was horribly traumatizing.

Covid for me too. Summer 2020. Had to temporarily move back in my parents because I was too afraid to shower without someone right my outside my door while doing so. Eventually got put on an IV after about 2-3 months, and that weirdly did the trick. Got flare ups again a few times later, but nothing will beat that horrible summer.

Covid for me as well, but not to your extent. I remember going from extreme hot to chills within hours. I had to take a break walking up to the stairs in my house cause I was so out of breath from doing it, and I can run miles no issue. I had insane headaches and just overall extreme tiredness. And I couldn't taste or smell anything for like a month. It was bizarre. I wasn't sick like a flu sick, I was just exhausted and in pain being alive. It was so weird

I don’t know what the fuck this was (my local urgent care told me it was post nasal drip), but I couldn’t breathe, my eye swelled up and started dripping pus, and I had to sleep sitting up and only got an hour of sleep a week. I remember crying sitting up on the couch at 3 AM because I was so tired but couldn’t sleep because I was in so much pain and discomfort

Dude i had this last year it was literally like a faucet in my nasal cavity. Got no sleep for like a week like you. Every time i laid down it would drip down in my throat into my lungs and make me cough every 20 seconds. Most miserable shit EVER.
The amount of mucus that my nose was dumping out was unlike anything i have ever had, i must of spit out a gallon of mucus daily during that week.

Alcoholism is one of the worst physical addictions, but add societal norms and pressures and it makes it the worst IMO. I'm not trying to be insensitive about other addictions but even nicotine isn't as publicly acceptable as it used to be. Getting through the physical part of addiction is extremely difficult and many die from it, but also, rewiring your brain when your triggers are everywhere is another type of pain that's really hard to enunciate.

I called my ex boyfriend who lived in Arizona to help me. 🙄 I had gotten ride to the party location so I just walked off I guess. Maybe dropped off? No clue. Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Six months of chemo… six hours every Monday and then 40 hours of a slow drip cocktail that I learned to remove myself.
Chemo was so debilitating. I was sleeping 20+ hours a day. The chemo brain was terrifying … I could see a cup in my head and the letters c-u-p would be over it but I couldn’t say the word out loud. Reading was futile. I’d turn the page and couldn’t remember was I just read. I remember being so scared that this was it. My oncologist was so optimistic but damn I was scared. I was so sick and tired of being sick and tired.
About a third of the way through, I’d come home feeling miserable and would usually end up crying and swearing I was done with chemo and wasn’t going back. But then Monday would roll around again and I would be back in chair for six hours with my heated blanket and the most caring and empathetic oncology team that ever was.
I’ve been in complete remission since April of 2011. And I don’t take a single solitary day for granted. 💚

COVID caused me to develop something called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. I’ve basically become allergic to the world. I never thought I’d be writing my will this week because no medication is able to help me come out of my recent flare up - I can’t keep any food down, I go into anaphylaxis from Benadryl (of all things!) and just about any other oral pill, my liver’s throwing a fit, and I’ve got crushing depression about the state of my life. I wouldn’t wish this illness on my worst enemy.

I've just (finally) been diagnosed with MCAS and your comment about being allergic to the world is so spot on.
I keep saying it's an illness where you don't know the rules, the rules keep changing, no one has the same rules and there are no rules.
I've been blessed (/s) with getting it after infections, which led to post infection syndrome, then to chronic fatigue syndrome with the bonus MCAS on the side.
I am Bipolar and honestly, this has been so much worse in a lot of ways for me. At least I know the rules and triggers with my brain.

When I had mono at 15 no one tested me for it and they made me continue going to school. I would pass out in class and they would just call the nurse. Everyone except my mom thought I was faking for attention. I had mono, walking pneumonia, and a UTI that almost became sepsis. No one took me seriously for THREE AND A HALF MONTHS!!!!!
It caused my nervous system to break and now I have multiple lifelong nervous system disorders. All because my doctors egos were too big to actually believe a teenage girl

When I had raw Covid in January of 2020, before anyone even knew it existed (found out later). I lost my sense of taste, and I was so sick every heart beat felt like it would be the last one. I was on the phone crying to my doctor because it was a full TEN DAYS after the fever had broken and I still could only drag myself to the bathroom and back to bed and that took every bit of strength in my body. The sense of malaise was totally overpowering. It took months to recover.
I’ve never been the same. My immune system has never been the same. I had Covid twice more after vaccination and it was nothing like that!

This was the most painful thing I have ever had in my life which was a dry socket after my wisdom teeth were removed. Three healed fine and one got dry socket. I took 30 Tylenol 3’s within a few days hoping for relief and it did absolutely nothing. I went to the dentist they applied a patch it helped but then that fell out a few hours later. I cried for a good 5 days then I found out about clove oil I paid 5$ for it OTC at the pharmacy I soaked some in gauze and packed my dry socket hole. It was amazing the pain instantly stopped and it healed within a few days. I will never underestimate nerve pain ever again.

I think that was definitely one of the sickest I had been. I was in Colorado at a friend's wedding and on the airplane ride home my throat felt a bit scratchy. I chalked it up to being in an airplane, but by the time we landed in Chicago I felt insanely horrible, already shaking from the fever, i was very disoriented. My husband drove us back up to Wisconsin and the whole ride home I just kept feeling worse. By the time we finally got back, my fever was sitting around 103, and I was miserable.
For a week, I only left my bed to drink water, pee, and grab whatever easy food I could stomach. I had everything, loss of taste, fever, insane rash, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, cough, horrible headache, shortness of breath. I slept close to 19 hours a day, I was so exhausted. I think by the 8th or 9th day I started moving around again, tried desperately to clean only to have my fever spike again. Was actually the first time I thought I could die from being sick.
The friends getting married had covid. They started to feel sick the day before their wedding, but had it anyways. Pretty crappy of them, luckily only my husband and I got Covid out of everyone there.

(Not shaming, just stating and I'm still fat): Obesity. I'm a small lady and I weighed 126kg / 277 pounds. I couldn't walk, would get out of breath walking to the letterbox or any slight incline. My blood pressure was through the roof and my mental health in the sewer. My feet would swell all the time. I have lost 25% since and I no longer weigh myself, but being able to walk without losing breath and run up stairs is AMAZING.

I had C-Diff when I was 23. Don’t Google it. It’s basically when too much antibiotics take out all of the good bacteria out of your intestines.
I had esophageal surgery when I was a teen, and it took away my ability to puke. Therefore, there was only one way things could come out — and everything went right through me. And it has a different smell too; like you’re shutting dead animals. Plus I was dry-heaving to the point that I couldn’t keep medication down.
That last part got me admitted to the hospital for four days. It’s also extremely contagious. It was during a bad flu season, and I was the only person in the hospital with a single room. When the hospital got so overcrowded they had to give me a roommate, she had to have her own commode.
She died a few weeks later, and I always wondered if it was because of me. I lived (obviously) but it was awful. I lost about 30 pounds in a few weeks. This happened in early December, and the jeans I had picked out for Christmas just fell off of me.
The kicker was that the sinus infection that I was prescribed the antibiotics for wasn’t even real. The headaches were from a benign brain tumor that was finally found on a CT of my sinuses.

Caught Covid in August 2020. Never been so ill in my life. At the time I was 24, was in very good shape, playing football 3 times a week and regular gym goer. Absolutely wiped me out for about 12 days. Had no energy; body temperature was all over the place, body aches, constant fatigue, eating food and having a shower was all I hoped for each day Was sleeping for like 16-18 hours a day. Felt absolutely awful particularly days 4-8 where I felt like I may have to go to hospital. I’ve had the flu since, also a vomiting bug - neither have come close to that time with Covid. I’ve had Covid 2 times since and been pretty minor. It absolutely wiped me out. Being alive basically hurt. It was crazy.

In July, I admitted myself into the ER because I felt so terrible. Turns out I had a bacterial infection in my gall bladder. My liver and kidneys temporarily shut down, and I was in ICU for four days. I had sepsis in my bloodstream. I almost died. After a course of the most powerful antibiotics available, I was fortunate to make a full recovery.

I went into a Bipolar episode at the age of 15 and was put on an SSRI because the doctor I saw didn’t know, and I was catapulted into a much worse mixed episode where I went psychotic, called the cops, ended up in inpatient for weeks I don’t even know how much time passed. I never understood what exhaustion was until then, the arthritis was insanely painful from my shoulders to my ankles, and my temperature would hit 103 and then plunge down to 95. I’ve had kidney stones five or six times in my life. About ten years ago after I had first gotten married, I got my third bout of them. Cue the instantaneous, gut-wrenching, all consuming pain and the vomiting, the whole 9 yards. I go to the ER. They do a scan, say yep kidney stones, hook me up on dilaudid, write me a prescription for oxy, and send me home.
On the way home I fill my prescription just as the pain comes crashing back in. Clearly my dilaudid is wearing off. I figure I’ll have to suffer a day or so of this before the stone either passes or quits moving, which is what had happened before. (I assume they have always just ended up in my bladder and not been passed because I have never seen/felt/heard one leave.
48 hours later and the pain has never let up, not for a moment. I’m running out of oxy. I go back to the ER, thinking maybe it’s too large. Something. They give me more dilaudid, more oxy, another scan, say to keep waiting, and send me home again.
After 3 more days of this I’m delirious. I’m living in the bathtub as it’s the only way I can receive a moment of relief, taking the pain from a 12 to a 10. Seriously, I put a pillow in there and everything. When the hot water ran out I would cry until the tank refilled and I could fill the tub again. I remember staring into the big silver plate thing that is supposed to keep the tub from overflowing and hallucinating from pain. I felt like I was part of the steam vapor and I could escape into the drain hole. At this point I’m popping oxy every hour and it’s barely putting a dent in it.
Finally, my parents and husband realize that I’m going to die unless someone helps me so they take me back to the ER and begin yelling until finally they refer me to the urologist who I can only describe as an aged Dr. House in a tie-dye t-shirt. He was furious after seeing my scans, realizing the tubes that connect my kidneys to my bladder were misshapen, and that I would never pass a stone on my own without surgery. He scheduled my surgery for 3 hours later, I sat in his waiting room sobbing with gratitude until an old woman next to me clearly thought I had received some life-shattering news and gave me some of her tissues.
3 hours later my tubes were reconstructed, the stone was gone, a stent was in its place and I was on the road to recovery, albeit with a mild opioid addiction I had to withdraw from. I don’t wish this on my worst enemy.

Appendicitis in 2010, I was 23. I started going into shock in the ER, my lips turned blue. The doctor came in and took my blood pressure and it was 60/30, he said he didn't even know how I was still conscious and that I should be in cardiac arrest. What a comfort. Spent three days in the hospital and missed a music festival I was really looking forward to.

Staph infection in my elbow. Week in the hospital. Then another week sick at home from the pain med withdrawal. Fun stuff.

When I was around 17, my old man cooked up some pork chops with baked potatoes. Unfortunately the pork chops were undercooked and I ended up getting gnarly food poisoning.
For an entire week I was next to the toilet and shower, feeling like death.

I got sick in February 2020 and I thought I was gonna die. The fever and the body aches were unbearable. 6 weeks later the whole world shut down. I had Covid before it was cool.

Out doing errands one beautiful day and my throat starts to close up. I stop in at local urge t care on the way home and they give me a shot of Benedryl which has no effect. They then tell me I need to go to the ER. I say sure, no problem. As I think they are kindly walking with me out the door, I see an ambulance outside and it's for me! They meant now. ER now. I vaguely remember the ride to the hospital. Woke up 5 days later in the ICU. I had been on a ventilator 5 days. I had developed an allergy to a blood pressure medication I had been on for years. Now the entire class of medication will induce anaphylaxis.
