| Discussion What food is each stadium famous for?

This year, I added a new item to the bucket list. I want to visit every MLB stadium and try the food that each stadium is famous for. I’ve already had crab cakes at Camden Yards, a piece of Mike Schmidt’s hair from Philly, and a big glizzy from PNC. What food do you enjoy the most at your stadium?

Stieb beat Cleveland 3-0 on this date in 1990 for Toronto’s first no-hitter, after losing five separate no-hit bids in the final out since 1988. It was also the 9th no-hitter of the 1990 season, still a modern MLB record

| History Proof you always have time to get better: Dennis Martinez

From 1976 to 1986, over ten years and nearly 2,000 innings pitched, Martinez accumulated a 10.1 WAR (-6.7 WAA) as a pitcher with a 92 ERA+.

Over the next 9 years from the age of 33 to 41, Martinez racked up a 39.8 WAR (+24.0 WAA) with a 130 ERA+ over another almost 2,000 innings.

From 1976 to 1986 he averaged 1.1 WAR per full season. From 1987 to 1995 he averaged 5.0. Never give up!!!

| Discussion Most important part of this sale isn’t being talked about.

Ok I’m gonna go a little inside baseball so bear with me.

I believe the biggest part of this sale is getting an NFL owner into the MLB owners meetings next year around the time of a potential lockout. I think a lockout is coming and the players association will never agree to a salary cap. They are too strong. I think the only want to save baseball is to split the TV rights revenue.

NFL and NBA negotiate rights as a league and split the revenue evenly. It creates financial balance thus creating competitive balance.

While big city teams can own their networks and create revenue , small clubs can’t. There is reason why 3 of the 4 final teams in the NBA are Oklahoma City , San Antonio and Indiana. It’s how the Green Bay Packers can be a successful franchise.

This is the only way I can see solving baseball’s competitive balance issue. Now that we have the richest owner in the MLB we might want to overspend and buy a winner but more importantly he brings winning culture that would thrive no matter what the rules are.

| Article "I don't think we're playing until June."

ESPN did an anonymous survey of players about what they thought about a salary cap and about how they saw this playing out.

That's a quote from someone identified as:

NL starting pitcher making seven figures this season

That person appears to be in a definite minority, but not all alone.

Some players expect little missed time, many expect moderate missed time but use of doubleheaders to make up most games.

As for the cap itself? Answers range from "no" to "hell no," basically.

Players said game is in a good state. One specifically cited the pitch clock. Raising minimum salary and shortening FA eligibility time were other issues.

EDIT: My personal thoughts? Given that owners seem firmer on a cap than in 1994, given that they've done more legwork than in 1994 (like local TV revenue sharing being OKed), and given that (adjusted for inflation of course), the average owner is a lot richer today, or so it seems, rather than in 1994, I don't expect games before May 1, as of this time. (And, yes, contra one or two commenters, this is true; no, the owners didn't agree to total local TV revenue sharing before the start of 1993-94 negotiations, for example.)

As for whether there will be a cap or not? I won't even think of offering a guess.

| Opinion Baseball fans I wanna ask you something

Since we’re most likely getting a lockout, why do fans want a cap when the Union won’t accept it and if so how? I’m a marlins fan and I do get every professional sports leauge has a cap and floor but idk what makes people think will get one. I would love it too but idk what’s the outcome or solution to this. Pls I wanna see if anyone can explain that to me. Because this CBA could get ugly.
