Standing ovation for him was great too

Adley Rutschman returned to Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday, exactly one month after the Baltimore Orioles traded him to the Boston Red Sox, and homered to right on the third pitch he saw.
Rutschman came to the plate in the first inning to a rousing standing ovation. He stepped out of the box, took off his helmet and waved to the crowd in appreciation.
On a 1-1 pitch from Orioles starter Brandon Young, Rutschman smashed a hanging curveball to right for a 1-0 Red Sox lead.

Good to see him again, sad on the other team. Know people cry about his numbers, but feels sad seeing one of the core members of the 15 game streak get traded. He provided a lot, felt like I could see a lot of frustration in him last night.
Wishing him all the best with the O's!

No word on if this happened on the late hold up by Epperson at third base yesterday that caused Ceddanne to violently stop (he came out two innings later). Could just be wear and tear for a guy who has gone all out this season in center field.
Chad is starting to employ a very liberal understanding of the phrase 'day-to-day' lol.

Hes doing his Mickey Gasper impression in AA. He has 14 homers in only 214 at bats this year. He missed June and July with an injury. Since 8/18, he has 7 home runs including 2 today

A nice little puff piece from John Henry's paper at a time when Adley and the front office could really use some good PR about the trade. It's really a total fluff piece with no substance except how much he practiced baseball as a kid. Not Healey's best work.
Healey does add at the end:
"With the Red Sox, a big step up in baseball environment, Rutschman has not made the desired first impression, entering the week batting .170 with one home run in 15 games (and sitting out the past three because of a right elbow injury)."

Assuming they make the playoffs, how would you set the lineup and rotation, assuming everyone who has a decent shot at being healthy is available?
The Red Sox would likely face the Yankees, who would presumably roll out a three-man rotation of G. Cole (RHP), C. Schlittler (RHP), and M. Fried (LHP).
I imagine Sox starters are some order of S. Grey, R. Suarez, and P. Tolle.
Main projected offensive players:
A. Rutschman (C)
M. Gasper (C/1B)
W. Contreras (1B)
N. Sogard (2B)
C. Mead (2B)
C. Durbin (3B)
T. Story (SS)
A. Monasterio (SS)
R. Anthony (LF)
C. Rafaela (CF)
W. Abreu (RF)
J. Duran (CF/LF)
I. Kiner-Falefa
M. Yoshida (DH)
Assuming all are healthy, what lineup would you have against RHP and LHP if you had to choose now?

Long shot here…
I don’t remember the year but it feels like 2010-2014 and the Red Sox wanted to sign a guy to make one start? Maybe the last day of the season? And MLB rejected it? Am I remembering this right?

“Like, I remember being in a van, but I have no recollection of what kind of van it was,” Tracy said Wednesday afternoon at Fenway Park, a couple of hours before the Red Sox closed out a brief homestand with an 8-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. “The way it all happened, I guess I didn’t get a chance to take it all in.”
With the Red Sox headed to Baltimore on Thursday to begin a four-game series against the Orioles, Tracy is going to get that chance. For it was on Sunday, April 26, at Camden Yards that the Red Sox registered a 5-3 victory over the Orioles in Tracy’s debut as interim manager. At the time, he was viewed as a caretaker, as the good-soldier manager of the Worcester Red Sox whose new job — that is, assignment — was to run the big club until Craig Breslow, Boston’s chief baseball officer, could decide on a full-time manager. But then the Red Sox went 21-4 in July, including a franchise record-tying 15-game winning streak, and because of that, they are likely headed to the playoffs. Also likely is that the “interim” sign will be removed from Tracy’s title once this season is over, however it ends, wherever it ends. It would be criminal at this point for Tracy not to get the gig full-time.
That’s what makes this trip to Baltimore by the Red Sox so intriguing. When the Sox were at Camden Yards in April, Tracy had to be guided to the manager’s office. Now he’s coming back as the manager who’s guiding the surprise-package Red Sox to the postseason.
True, Tracy’s return isn’t going to be the big local story. Orioles fans will be welcoming back catcher Adley Rutschman, who just a few years ago was the rookie centerpiece of an Orioles rebuild. Acquired by the Red Sox last month, the hope is that his bat will bring needed thump to the lineup. Orioles fans don’t care about any of that. They just want to say hi to an old friend.

Sox have roughly a 98% chance of making the playoffs at this point, which I think most of us would have be floored by 10 weeks ago.
They won 89 games last year, got dominant performances out of Garrett Crochet and Aroldis Chapman in Game 1, and then the injuries and inconsistent offense caught up to them.
So what does everyone think? Two months ago, most of us would have been ecstatic just to be where Texas and Toronto and Baltimore are right now.
I would love to see them eclipse last year’s win total, which would require them to go 15-7 the rest of the way. Doable, but they have to get hot again pretty quickly. But most importantly, I want to see them win a wild card series and at least put up a good showing in the division series.

I think most of us are pretty confident in the pitching staff that we have, when we went to New York we didn’t really have many of our aces lined up and with the Mariners it’s been some of the same. But the offense is basically showed up, which is supposed to be our weak point as we get healthier, expand the roster and more of the arms come back we’re gonna be looking pretty good going into October.
