The Dodgers have a losing record since July 1st

26-27 isn’t even a very small sample size. if they don’t hold on to one of the top two seeds and are overtaken by Atlanta (or Philadelphia if they pass the Braves) they could very easily lose a best of 3

News MLB has posted the Postseason Picture now that it's September and four MLB playoff races are separated by 3 games or fewer entering September 3.

The postseason races are getting pretty compressed heading into the final few weeks:

  • D-backs lead Padres by 0.5 games for the final NL Wild Card
  • Guardians lead Rangers, Orioles and Blue Jays by 1.5 games for the final AL Wild Card
  • Astros lead Rangers by 2 games in the AL West
  • White Sox lead Guardians by 3 games in the AL Central

The NL Wild Card race might be the most interesting because Arizona and San Diego finish the regular season against each other, and their season series is currently tied 5-5. That final series could potentially decide both the playoff berth and the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The AL Wild Card is even more crowded, with Cleveland currently holding the last spot and Texas, Baltimore and Toronto all 1.5 games back.

Mets/Phillies/Red Sox were a collective 53-83 (.390) when firing their managers. They're a collective 163-119 (.578) since.

The moral of the story is you should just fire your manager. Go on, do it. The earlier the better.

Cubs 2-1 victory is their first win scoring 2 runs or less since May 14th

They have 5 such victories on the year: two 2-0 shutouts, one 1-0 shutout, and two 2-1 wins.

In case anyone is curious, they only have 6 wins scoring 3 runs. That's 11 wins, on the year, scoring 3 runs or less.

Yeah folks, our pitching sucks.

[Rome] Yordan Alvarez received his 30th intentional walk of the season. He's the sixth player in American League history to have a season of at least 30 intentional walks, joining Aaron Judge (2025), Miguel Cabrera (2010), John Olerud (1993), George Brett (1985) and Ted Williams (1957)
