I'm curious what your first days were like? I'm dreading it—especially the first classes. I'm here alone, and no one from my university chose this city this year.

I'm curious about your experience.

I strat to think that I will probably know no one during all stay :/

I kinda want to do another one in my masters, but I don't want it to just be a repeat of the first one because getting drunk and having no responsibilities is cool and novel in your early 20s but less so 5 years later. Did you go to a more "serious" country or a country that's culturally completely different from yours (for example Korea or Japan)?

I'm currently on my second semester abroad in the Nordic countries. I've met quite a lot of people, but after two weeks I'd say I'm regularly in contact with around 5 of them, but we're all quite busy since we also work part time.

In my accommodation, there aren't many international students, but I share a kitchen with 15 locals, which has actually been great. I see them pretty much every day and have been enjoying getting to know them.

At first, I had this feeling that I HAD TO hang out with other Erasmus students several times a week so I wouldn't miss out on the "Erasmus experience." But I'm slowly realizing that a semester abroad isn't necessarily that different from my everyday life at home. I still have classes every day, see my kitchen mates, hang out with friends at least once a week, go to the occasional ESN event, etc.

I know quite a few Erasmus students who live in the same accommodation and seem to go somewhere or hang out together almost every day. Since I don't live with them, I'm not invited to everything, and sometimes I wonder if I'm missing out by not being part of that group.

How have other people's Erasmus experiences been? Did you feel like you had to constantly socialize and go to events, or did you also have a more low-key experience? And did you ever feel like you were missing out because other Erasmus students seemed to be doing more?

My city is so beautiful and a big student city so it has been so fun to meet so many new people at the bars and go on side quests every night. I have been slowly hanging with people during the day as well and enjoying nature, the city and the cool activities here. But to be honest I am having a much harder time emotionally than I thought. I miss my friends so so so much. They’re the people I do literally everything with, and party with, and live with. I wish they could have come with me, and find myself wishing I could go home even though my hometown is so much less interesting and fun than here. I have two extremely close friend groups that I haven’t been separate from in years and I just feel this underlying loneliness even when I’m with people. I expected the first week to just be all fun and games like first week of uni but I’ve never had the experience of moving to a country and knowing absolutely no one and having to navigate all of the cultural differences and it is so much harder than I thought in my head. This doesn’t feel like real life and I will have a great time when I’m out but I feel so empty during the day and have to confront the loneliness lol. I know it will get better once I get more comfortable with people but I’m not sure how to make sure that happens.

I just found out I was selected by my university for the Erasmus exchange! I’m super excited, but as a non-EU student, I know the visa and paperwork process is going to be intense.
My university is about to officially nominate me. For anyone who has done this as a non-EU citizen, what does the timeline look like from here? Do you apply for the visa on your own or does your university take care of it?
Any infromation would be helpful to be honest!

Hi everyone! I’m going to ESSEC Business School in France for erasmus in the spring 2027 semester, but i'm very confused if i need an official english certificate.

in the requirements part of the factsheet it says:

"Students will need to meet the following requirements and we will NOT ask for supporting documents. (except for the French language).

• Good academic results.
• At least a B2 level in English language according to CEFR.
• A minimum B2 level in French language. (to take business classes in French only)"

From my interpretation of the factsheet, I don’t think i need the certificate, but I asked my university's secretary office and they said i need it:

"As for the English exam, the CEFR refers to an European framework that helps attest language levels. In this case, an English exam will be needed, since the partner school requests their incoming students to hold a specific English level - B2."

However, I still think it’s not necessary, since they even put in capital letters that they won’t ask for any documents... Anyways, does anyone who’s going to ESSEC or has already been there know anything? Honestly i really want to avoid doing the english exam since its very expensive :(

My first Erasmus semester will end on the 5th of February, while the second one (in a different country) starts on the third. It would be very important for me to go in the second semester, as my long-distance partner will also do an Erasmus semester there at the same time.

I've discussed this eventuality with the Erasmus coordinator at my university a few months ago and they said that ANY overlapping would make the mobility impossible. I've heard about cases where it was played cool with a few tricks or with the right excuses, but couldn't find anything right now.

What do you guys suggest? Did anyone experience something like this?

I’m 29, have a Bachelor’s in Architecture with a 3+ GPA, and I’m also a mom to a 3 year old daughter. I’ve recently been looking into the Erasmus Mundus programs and honestly, I really want to give it a shot.

But I have a few questions for those who’ve been through it: Am I still eligible at 29, or are these programs mainly aimed at younger applicants? And for those who actually did Erasmus... how did it change your life, career, or perspective?

I’m at a point where I really want a fresh start and a new chapter for myself after becoming a mother. I’d love to hear honest experiences, especially from anyone who applied later in life.

Hi! I did an Erasmus semester through my German university and received 15 ECTS. These were all the courses/exams from my Learning Agreement, and 15 ECTS was enough to fulfil my academic requirements at my home university.
Now my university says I need 20 ECTS for Erasmus funding and asks me to explain why I only received 15.
I genuinely wasn’t aware that 20 ECTS was a separate requirement for Erasmus funding. I also found on my university’s website that repayment of the Erasmus grant is only considered if a student gets less than 10 ECTS.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could I have to repay my Erasmus grant because I received 15 instead of 20 ECTS?

So, I'm interested in applying to GLOBE (Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management). One of the admission requirements is a "video".

Is there by any chance someone who has won the scholarship and can tell me what does the admission committee expect this video to have? I expect it to be a short video essay of sorts but it would be nice to have recommendations for both content and style.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m an Italian student graduating this October in Business Administration (International trade). Right after graduation, I’m heading to Lithuania for a 5-month Erasmus+ Traineeship as a Junior Supply Chain & Logistics Operator. I already have some hands-on experience, having completed a 5-month logistics internship in Italy managing transport operations.

​My goal is to use this period as a career accelerator: gain international experience, sharpen my business English, and hopefully either secure a full-time role in Lithuania afterward or leverage the experience for supply chain roles across Europe (I speak native Italian, B2 English, and B2 Spanish).

​My main anxiety is financial: the Erasmus grant won’t fully cover my expenses, so I’ll need to invest around 2000/3000€ of my personal savings. Even though I love the field and see this as an investment in my skills, I'm terrified of burning through my hard-earned savings and ending up with nothing solid in return.

​Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did an Erasmus+ traineeship pay off for your career/job prospects, or was it hard to transition into a full-time role afterward?

I study at a good university, top 10 in my country, and that opens doors for me to many foreign universities. None of them caught my interest until I found out there was an Erasmus program to Paris.
I am in love with that city, I've been there a couple of times, and yet I still need to keep going back. I have an advanced level of French, but here in my hometown, I have my friends, my partner, and basically my life. Am I making the right decision if I go? Could you guys share your experiences with me?

NOHA 2026–2028 – August extended deadline applicants

Hi everyone! Has anyone here applied to the NOHA Master's Programme for the 2026–2028 intake during the extended application period in August, particularly with University College Dublin (UCD) as their Home University, or with another university that had an extended deadline?

If so, have you already received an admission/rejection decision?

I applied within the August extended deadline but haven't received an outcome yet, so I'm trying to understand whether other late-round applicants are still waiting as well.

I have a question, if i wanna apply for the joint scholarship does it matter who gave me the Letter of Recommendation? I wanted to ask one professor from my uni and my boss from my internship is that okay? Or do i need two professors? Thanks!

I've been in my study abroad country for 3 1/2 weeks now, and I feel so incredibly lonely. The first week was okay, we had daily events organised by the international office, and we were always around 6-7 people who would hang out together.

I was the only one who came really "alone", everyone else came with a friend or has someone from the same university as them.

Last weekend, I suggested a hike for sunday, and everyone seemed really keen to go on it, so when I texted saturday evening to chat about the exact details, no one replied. I met two girls in the hallway later who told me they did the hike on saturday without me. When I asked them why they didn't tell me she essentially said "we didn't want you coming with us". I tried again a few days later and asked in the groupchat if someone wanted to do boardgames, but everyone ignored me. I tried with a few other people, but it seems like everyone has found their group and i am completely left out. I also heard today that the first group (the one who went hiking without me) have booked a trip for the weekend, one that we also spoke about, and never mentioned it to me.

I have until the 24th of December and I have seriously no idea how I'm supposed to my time. I only have classes two times a week (Tuesday and Wednesday), i am bored and lonely.

I would like to go on Erasmus to either Prague or Budapest, and i could go next semester (starting february 2027) or the following semester (starting october 2027)

Im currently in my last year of my bachelors and have no subjects planned at all for my 2nd semester this year. So going on erasmus in that empty semester kinda seems like an obvious choice. The weather will also be nicer of course, while in the fall semester the weather gradually gets colder. These cities can get pretty cold as well. I also dont plan on going more than 1 semester as im sure ill miss my home a bit.

On the other hand, ive read that the fall semester can be better for meeting new people since much less people go in the spring semester. Im not the most extroverted person ever but i dont wanna end up lonely in the city. If i were to go in the fall semester, i would go in my first semester of my masters.

What would you recommend? I plan on finding a shared flat or an apartment instead of a student dorm, if that makes any difference.

Me and a colleague will start our internship in Lithuania in less than 2 weeks... we were planing to get accommodation in the university dorm, but it seems its full, all the renting sites ive searched accept tennants only from February. My colleague said we will be fine as universities usually keep some dorm space in case people come with erasmus or research. How true is that from your experience? I need to add that we are having a horrible time speaking with the hosting university, as they are taking one-two weeks to get back to us, or simply ghosting some emails.

I’m an incoming Erasmus student from Hungary, and I’ll be studying at the University of Turin for the winter semester, from the middle of October to the middle of January.

I'm currently hunting for accommodation with a maximum budget of around €500/month. Originally, I really wanted a private studio, but after looking on multiple platforms that offer places way out in the suburbs or have a minimum renting period of ~6 months, so I realized my budget might be too tight for that. So, I am totally open to renting a room in a shared apartment, as long as it is actually cheap and well-connected to the university. I obviously want to keep my living costs as low as possible.

The University itself didn't help much yet as well, since (how i understood it) they don't offer accommodations to Erasmus students for some reason.

Are there specific neighborhoods I should look into that are affordable and safe? Also, what are the best websites or local groups to find short-term (4-month) rentals without getting hit by massive agency fees?

Any local tips or reality checks would be greatly appreciated.

🎓 **Top-up: 120 UK credits (60 ECT)

Question: Would this pathway generally meet the EMJM requirement for a bachelor’s degree / 180 ECTS equivalent?
Has anyone with a similar Japanese vocational college → UK top-up BSc background applied to EMJM?

So i’m an 18 yo F and next year i’m looking to study in Jaén.

I’ve already gathered my high school documents and I’m getting them translated for the process of Homologation. I started early cause honestly my worse fear is being late or unprepared. Hate that real bad.

Say all that to say I’m looking for someone who’s native or who lives in Andalusia so I can practice spanish with them in that specific dialect and speed. I’d say I’m a strong A2 or weak B1. I know that immersion is key and lowkey my Ego is telling me that I can pull this off.
