Google please un break autocorrect and voice to text! Stop the gaslighting!

Once upon a time ten years ago my friends and family were in awe of the google accuracy.

Not anymore. This tool is gaslighting me & I've had it.

Mom's house is mins house?

That's the most recent example of it pushing out words I never wanted.

I'm having to either stop and backtrack to fix or I'm sending gibberish

I'm going to try the gboard cache reset and any other thing but I swear one of these days I'm going to fling this thing across the room.

Helpful fixes needed please and thank you

All about Pixel

I am currently an iPhone 13 user and plan to shift to Pixel 11 Pro since my iPhone has been severely degraded by heavy software updates.

My questions are for all the Pixel users (past and current) -
•) How long does a pixel phone last on a day to day basis and also on year to year?
•) How well is the battery optimised?
•) Does the software slows down with age?
•) Will be Apple AirPods Pro 2 work with Pixel?
•) When should I ideally purchase the phone as currently it is too damn expensive? 😭
•) Any other thing I should keep in mind?

Pixel 11 Pro XL - amazing device

I see a lot of hate on here and I wanted to quickly add my 2 cents. On paper and benchmarks everyone talks about the horrible processor but in every day use this phone shines so bright it's not even a competition.

- Clear Calling - I had to make phone calls at a County Fair and I could barely hear the person talking to me, I apologized to them for the loud noise and they said "what noise?"

- Photos Video - I have a 2 year old and 6 year old, you already know the drill here. Nails it every time. Magic Capture is amazing although the video it generates is noticeably a lower FPS but both create usable final products, decent videos and photos all with one click of a button. Video is top tier. I guess if you're a content creator you pixel peep videos but for 99% of normal use this phone takes amazing videos.

- Heat/ Battery / Modem - I had a Pixel 7 and 8 Pro XL and both had brutal heat and the battery melted away. I run dual sims, 5 email accounts, business and personal use. The new modem is doing it's job and on most days I'm ending my day with a 45% battery. This weekend my wife and I were out all day at an event with the kids in a heat warning taking lots of photos. I never noticed the Pixel was hot and at 4 pm my wife said "use your phone mine is dead (iPhone 16 Pro) and I looked at mine to see I was at 47%.

- Gaming - so I do Game but not CoD or PubG , heavy 3D. I will try them just out of boredom some days but they are not mandatory for me. I play Terraria with my 6 year old. No issues playing your basic Play Store games- but I get it - this is not the phone to get for bleeding edge gaming. Can't argue with that. If you casually play games on the train to work, couch boredom it's got enough just don't expect to play the latest PC Game ports on here.

- Rambler - not sure I could live without it now. Amazing tech and at work I'm a heavy Wispr Flow user. Great to see this built into the device.

- zero lag so far ever. It just blitzes through everything.

- Screen - super bright, nice and big. A dream to type on.

- Charging - not breaking records here but certainly fast enough now given the battery drain, modem, heat are efficient to not cause bad drain.

My all time favorite Pixel Phone was the 4XL in the Stormtrooper color with those orange buttons - I wish they made that again... But I can feel already that this will be a device I keep for 3 years.

My phone history, from what I can remember

OnePlus something - the one with the periscope camera this was such a cool phone.

iPhone 12 Pro Max

iPhone 16 Pro / OnePlus 12

Sold both for Pixel 11 Pro XL

Is the weather all finally getting better?

https://youtu.be/_6jZlnRsXXQ?is=t0aTj1d-MjkisHKk

Tldr: WeatherNext 3 is roughly 5x sharper in spatial resolution than WeatherNext 2, generating hourly forecasts instead of 6-hour updates. It uses direct, real-time satellite data to score up to 60% better on precipitation accuracy and runs on 2.4x more parameters.

Got more money for my Google 8!

Google quoted $115 for a trade in. And once Google inspected my phone, I got e-mailed that I will be getting $175 instead. A nice surprise.

Any idea what this is?

Upvotes

Hey guys, in playstore when I go to update apps. There is a yellow triangle there which I can't seem to get rid off. Any advice on how to get rid of it? I'm new to pixel so I'm unsure

My experience upgrading from Pixel 6 Pro to 11 Pro after 2 weeks

I think how you feel about this the pixel 11 series is very dependent on how much you are able to get for it. After trade in and discount code I only had to pay £460 for the upgrade. At this price it's hard to really complain, especially given my 6 pro was on its last legs.

If you're like me who only makes upgrades when you need to, then so many upgrades have accumulated that it's fine if the last series didn't have the biggest.

I'll put my top pros and cons in the comments from the top of my head (not a thought out thing so don't stress) and happy to answer any questions from anyone still on the fence

Pixel trade-in - Here's a New One

Traded in a Pixel 8 pro for a Pixel 11 pro through the Google Store, no cracks or damage. They finally assessed my trade-in and said it's not only a Pixel 7 pro, but it is also reported as lost and/or stolen. Will keep everyone updated.

I found a solution to my pixel 11 not receiving calls

I wanted to share something that may help other users who are having problems with not receiving incoming calls on their pixel 11.

In my case:
- Outgoing calls worked normally.
- incoming calls did not work over 4G/5G.
- Incoming calls worked when the phone fell back to 2G/3G. (You can test by updating it in your sims setting and restarting)
- The same phone worked correctly with a SIM from another network provider.

I tried a lot of the things already posted
- removing spam settings
- resetting network and phone apps
- removing call screening
Etc.

I found that the IMS option was missing from the APN type on my network provider’s automatically created APN.

Before:
default,supl,xcap

How to change it on a Pixel 11
Open Settings.
Go to Network & internet.
Tap SIMs.
Select your SIM/network provider.
Open Access Point Names (APNs).
Select the currently active APN.
Find APN type.
Add ,ims to the existing value.
- For example: default,supl,xcap,ims
- Don’t delete the existing values.
Save the APN.

If you cannot update the excisting, create a new one by pressing the plus sign > copy all settings from the other and tjen add ims to the APN Type. Then activate it by selecting it. Keep in mind my provider settings might not be the same as yours so be sure not to delete anything or copy exactly if creating a new one.

Restart your phone (important!). Wait for it to turn on and test. Since I made this change the phone has received calls consistently!

I hope this helps someone else. If there are any questions let me know!

EDIT: for reference, I have a provider called 50+ from The Netherlands, they are part of the vodafoon network. We also tested with a Simpel sim card, part of Odido, but there were no issues with that one.

Those who got the Pixel 11, did you decide to stay on 5G or still change it to LTE and why?

Weird timezone issues with phone

Upvotes

Some reason my phone recently has been telling me it's the correct time but when I get a voicemail the voicemail notification says it's "in 59 minutes" when it should be "1m ago"

That wasn't that big of a deal till today where I have flights booked and for some reason for a flight leaving at 10am today I just looked at my phone and it's telling me it's at 3am freaking me out thinking I'm about to miss my flight and I don't know how to fix it. Rebooting my phone doesn't fix it and apparently I'm singled out on this issue from what I can tell.

Trade In UK question

Hello!

Me and my partner both decided to get the pixel 11 pro and sent our old phones in for trade in at the same time on the 24th of August.

And both of us got the email saying they arrived with PCS and will be assessed on the 26th.

A few hours after the first email, my partner got his confirmation email that he will get the predicted £480 for his pixel 7a.

I am still waiting on having mine assessed, is that normal?

They both went and arrived on the same days, I don't understand what is happening it's making me anxious like there's gonna be problems...

(I had a pixel 7, they offered 500 with the trade in bonus)

Pixel 9a camera stuck in Macro

Hello,

I have owned a new 9a for 2 days. Day one everything worked fine. Day two the back camera is stuck in Macro mode (the macro icon is on screen) and can't change focus. 0.5 mode is fine.

I have seen advice saying to disable Automacro but I can't find an option to do this anywhere?

Thanks for any advice.

Pixel 11 Pro + MotionCam Pro for RAW video - is it actually usable for serious filmmaking?

I'm considering getting a Pixel 11 Pro and I'm particularly interested in its video capabilities beyond the stock camera app.

One of the main things I'm looking at is using MotionCam Pro to shoot RAW video. I'm also curious about using the Blackmagic Camera app and how much control / quality it can actually provide on the Pixel.

For anyone who has experience with this:
1. How good is MotionCam Pro RAW video on the Pixel in real-world use?
2. Is the RAW footage actually worth the extra storage, processing and workflow?
3. How is the dynamic range compared with the standard Pixel camera?
4. If you used Blackmagic camera app on any Iphone newer than 15 pro, how is it comparing to pixel footage?

I'm already familiar with dedicated cameras, so I'm not expecting a phone to replace a proper cinema camera. I'm mainly interested in whether the Pixel + MotionCam Pro can be a genuinely useful small B-camera / travel camera / run-and-gun setup, especially when you want something more flexible than the stock camera app.

If you've actually shot RAW video on a Pixel 11 pro, I'd really appreciate seeing some sample footage or hearing about your workflow and experience.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold Action Pan Missing

Hello all,

This is my first Pixel phone, and I was keen to try out the Action Pan feature that Pixels have, but it doesn't appear to be present within the camera app on my Fold.

It states in the specifications on the Google website that it should be present, but I can't find it.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Are play store Auto updates broken?

I'll have apps that need an update from 3 days ago and then others that have had an update from over a month ago...

I thought it was supposed to auto update every day on wifi and or cellular? And even after I have to update all apps, there will still be more...

Pixel 9a - occasional ghost taps

Hi,

some weeks ago my Pixel 9a started registering occasional ghost taps. I notice it mostly while I’m tapping a lot, e.g. using the on-screen keyboard. A tap is registered at one specific location in the upper-left area of the screen, always at the same spot. I initially noticed it because the text cursor suddenly jumps to this different position during typing which is kind of annoying if you don't see it directly. I am also worried about accidentally executing actions because of this issue.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Removed the screen protector and case
  • Switched between different on-screen keyboards
  • Tested different touch/display settings, including the enhanced screen protector/touch sensitivity options
  • Verified that an actual touch event is being registered using both:
    • an app that visualizes touch input
    • the option to show taps in the android developer options

The problem is that it happens quite rarely and isn’t easily reproducible. Sometimes I can tap/type for several minutes before the ghost tap occurs.

I’ve considered doing a factory reset, but I’m not sure whether that’s worth the effort here, especially since the touch event itself is clearly being registered by Android.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Pixel 9a or another Pixel?

And if it does need to go through Google support: how would you approach an intermittent issue like this? I’m worried that if I send the phone in, they won’t be able to reproduce it and will simply return it as “no fault found.”

Does Pixel Care+ come through when needed or is it just an upsell?

Previous 10 Pro with no coverage, broken screen from dropping, eventual water damage inside. Unfixable.

Paid off remainder of Verizon 3-year contract (2 years left cost $700) and bought a new 10 Pro for $700 ($300 off sale). Total $1400 for a $1000 phone.

Clearly spent a ton of money for an innocent phone fumble gone wrong.

So... Do I get Pixel Care+ for the new phone or nah? $13 a month.

P11PRO : Which Green Case thin but not too much ?

Upvotes

Hi! I currently have a Bellroy case in green. It’s been good, but I’m looking to get a new one.

It’s important to me that the USB port opening is large enough to fit my thick Android Auto cable, and I’d also like a good grip. I have a son, so I’m looking for something solid and durable enough to handle everyday use.

I find the Onyx a little too bulky for my taste. Do you have any recommendations? i want a premium sensation case in green if possible.

Thanks!

Looking for Unique All Metal Pixel Case

I'm looking for a case that's all metal for a pixel 11 pro XL, I'm open to no back protection, but full edge is required, thepixelcase.com is neat, but it's got to be cheap drop shipped garbage. The Arc case looks cool and is actually cnc'd, but it doesn't cover the device all around the edges like I'd like. Anyone know of an option along this path?

Get satellite SOS working - Pixel 11

I managed to restore network connectivity on my Pixel 11 after encountering the registration errors mentioned in this thread. I applied several configuration changes simultaneously, so it is unclear which specific setting resolved the issue:

  • Disabled Adaptive Battery and Smart Charging
  • Changed System Language to English (United States) (previously set to English (France))
  • Reset Private DNS to Automatic
  • Disabled Caller ID & Spam in the Phone app settings

Tried the demo, it works!
