[ger] Disney plus not available on Chromecast (anymore)?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Since today I get this when trying to watch something on Disney+ on my Chromecast. Already reset my router. Happens on both of my Chromecasts. I tried it from my tablet and phone. I don't use any VPN. When I check my location based on my IP it says Germany. I restarted my router and Chromecast.

I didn't find any news or communication that there was a change or something.

Anyone encountered the same issue or has an idea what else to try?

i was trying to chromecast a google slideshow to my google tv and ran into some glitching and artifacting. so i opened a completely new and blank one (literally just a white screen), tried to chromecast it, and ended up with this. there are no shadows. it's just pure artifact.

the second image is me attempting to chromecast my main slideshow a minute after stopping the blank one. as u can see, it's still pure artifact.

i already restarted my pc and tv. any solutions? (tcl tv)

Issues with casting videos from a browser in Android

I have a Pixel 6a phone, Google Chromecast on one TV, Google 4K Streamer on another TV, and a Windows 11 laptop. If I try casting from my phone's browser, for example a video on Dailymotion, to either TV device, it's like the casting mechanism locks up or something. Nothing happens on the TV, but the Cast feature in the browser stops functioning. I have tried this on multiple browsers on my phone (Chrome, Edge, etc), same result. Casting my phone's screen from the Home app works fine. As does casting from within dedicated apps. And casting a video from within a browser on my Windows laptop also works fine.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Chromecast set up error failed to access permissions

Chromecast (2018) was not connecting so I factory reset. Should have learned from past mistakes to only do that as a last resort. Now every time I try to set it up I get this far and then an error. Shows up on the TV like it is working fine. But will not show up in the home app, my phone seems to think it does not exist

Chromecast with Google TV Remotes emptying the battery when not in use

I live between two homes, 1 month each place, and disconnect the power to the Chromecast when I leave. When I come back, the remote is dead, batteries empty.

Same problem with both places, one has Chromecast 4K and the other HD. Seems like a major bug in the remote firmware? It just keeps trying to connect until battery is empty?

Very frustrating, I have to try to remember to remove the battery everytime I leave

Chromecast and Onn units began to suck at maintaining wifi connection.

Maybe a few weeks on. Wife blaming Onn 4k (2024) units, but the Chromecast started doing the same shit at the same time.

Ambient Mode crashing/reverting to Art Gallery specifically on shared Live Albums (Multiple devices, isolated bug)

Looking for insights or to see if anyone has found an actual workaround for what appears to be an account-level backend bug with inbound shared Live Albums in Ambient Mode.

The Setup & Symptom

  • Devices affected: Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, and Nest Hub Max.
  • The Issue: For years, I had two separate Live Albums shared with me (from two different family members) that automatically add photos of their kids. About six months ago, Ambient Mode stopped showing photos from both albums across all of my devices simultaneously.
  • The Glitch: When either shared Live Album is selected as the photo source, Ambient Mode completely fails to index/render them and immediately falls back to the generic Art Gallery / Earth screensaver.

What I’ve Isolated

  1. Access is fine: New photos continue to sync and show up inside the Google Photos mobile and web apps without issue.
  2. Device display works: If I take photos from those shared albums, hit the star/favorite icon to add them to my personal Favorites album, and select "Favorites" in Ambient Mode, they display on the screensavers perfectly.
  3. The breaking point: The exact second I check either sister's shared Live Album alongside Favorites, the screensaver crashes back to generic artwork.
  4. It’s not one album/owner: Two entirely separate Google accounts share these live albums with me, and both broke at the exact same time.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted

  • Toggled Personal Photo Curation between Live Albums Only and All Albums (no change).
  • Re-selected albums via Google Home app and Google Photos > Photo Frames settings.
  • Force stopped, uninstalled updates, and wiped App Data / Cache on Ambient Mode / Screensaver / Chromecast built-in system apps on both streaming devices.
  • Deep restarts / power cycling of all streaming hardware and displays.
  • Submitted in-app feedback via Google TV months ago with zero movement.

The Question

It looks like Ambient Mode has a token/indexing block specifically on inbound shared live album metadata for my account.

Has anyone else encountered this specific shared Live Album failure mode recently, and did you find any hidden toggle or backend trick to un-stick the sync without having to manually duplicate hundreds of photos into a local personal album?

SluiceBox is now available for Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer

I’m the developer of SluiceBox, a television-first IPTV media player that is now publicly available through Google Play. It installs directly on Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer devices; it is not a phone-casting app and does not support older cast-only Chromecast models.

SluiceBox is free to download and use. The Lite edition includes the core viewing experience, while Premium features and visual themes are optional in-app purchases.

The interface is designed around a D-pad remote and includes:

- A fast timeline TV guide

- Movies and series browsing

- Search, favorites, custom groups, history, and resume playback

- DVR and catch-up when the user’s source supports them

- Xtream Codes-compatible, remote M3U, local M3U, and XMLTV sources

- Channel ordering, visibility controls, and adjustable text sizes

- Backup and sync options

SluiceBox is only a media player. Users must supply their own legal source. The app does not provide channels, movies, series, playlists, provider subscriptions, or copyrighted media.

Chromecast Ultra & Older Gen devices suddenly "unavailable" today

Thumbnail

My Chromecast Ultra and older gen devices suddenly stopped showing as available today. No app is castable including Google Home, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc.

Restarted the Internet router and modem and even factory reset Chromecasts. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Home App on Android. Devices all on the same WiFi of course. Weird thing is the Chromecasts' are connected to the internet displaying time, temperature and device name on TV. Even my router identifies them as connected still.

I see they increased the newest Google TV Streamer price the other day...how convenient and what a coincidence 🙄. Anyone else having Chromecast fun?

Chromecast (2nd Gen) Where have you casted before?

I've always been lover of the Chromecast; long before the days of Google TV.
I have a drawer full of different models. I had one in every room. Whenever I'd go on a trip, I would bring one with me, along with a travel router to bypass AP isolation for the WiFi at hotels. The travel router had 4G/LTE too, if there wasn't WiFi available to piggyback from. But you could just as easily use a spare smartphone in hotspot mode. For a while, I had one plugged in, hidden away behind the head unit in my car. I'd often cast to the TV in the boardroom at work on my lunch break. One time, I volunteered at a hockey tournament & sneakily casted to the Jumbotron in the arena. Suffice to say... if there was a screen available, I was trying to find a way to cast to it. No matter how big or small. With or without permission.

I'm curious if there are any OG Chromecast users still around, who might have similar experiences?

Annoying problem with remote

I have 2 Google Chromecasts at home with Google TV 4K with both a super annoying problem.

Shortly after each other, both remote controls no longer work. Volume buttons and the Power button work but all other buttons unfortunately do not work. I literally tried every possible 'solution' I could find. (changed batteries, hold down Home+Back button, disconnect remote and relink etc. etc.)

When I disconnect the chromecast and turn off the power, both remote controls will work again until I turn off the TV and Chromecast and then the whole thing starts again.

Who or who has the solution to this problem?

Chromecast Audio Radio on Chromecast: New App for streaming local FM radio stations (Kitchen Radio)

It may be a bit self-promotion, but I think this App is very useful for the visitors of this channel.

After streaming a lot of music on my phone, I was in the mood to just listen to some local over-the-air radio stations. I found out that it’s not so easy to find an app that does this simply and isn’t made almost unusable by lots of annoying ads.

That was the idea behind creating Kitchen Radio. It reminded me of a friend who owns a lot of tech, but once said he wished he just had a simple radio in his kitchen to turn on and listen to.

Since it’s still an app, it’s also possible to discover all kinds of new music from around the world.

Since the app is new, I would really appreciate your honest feedback. :-)

Download

Features

  • 📻 See your city's local radio stations
  • 🌍 Find internet radio stations from all over the world by your favourite genres
  • ❤️ Save your favourite songs and listen to them later on YouTube or Spotify
  • 🌙 Set a sleep timer
  • 🚗 Android Auto support
  • ⏰ Wake up to your favourite radio station
  • 📺 Chromecast support

Xiaomi TV Box S (3.gen) HDMI CEC does not work

I use the Acer **H6531BD** Projektor with the Xiaomi TV Box S (3.gen) and the HDMI CEC does not work properly. Of course hdmi cec is enabled on the xiaomi box and the projektor.

The Problem is, I can not turn of the Projektor with the xiaomi remote.

There is an assistant to configure the the remote but you need to configure it with the sound test. And you have to chose from where comes the sound (TV, receiver, soundbar. I can only chose TV because only there is a profile for Acer. But it does not work. And the hdmi cable is on the cec port.

**It has worked with my old google chromecast from the year 2020 on this projektor.**

Can somebody help me please?

Chromecast Ultra Newbie Chromecast help

Going slightly insane here as I've recently made the leap to Jellyfin(via docker) on my NAS. During set up I was testing the Casting from my Android device and successfully got content to play on the tv.

Subsequently every video I've gone to play just kicks me back to the splash screen no error, nothing.

I know chromecasts(especially the dongles I'm using) are flakey but given that one video works I'm confused why others don't. As I would have expected that resolved the whole HTTPS piece. Is this some playback setting I can configure globally for my media?

Chromecast with Google TV Dolby Vision stutter.

Title says everything. Playback is amazing in SDR and HDR10 no matter the size of the REMUX.

But if it’s DV than it starts to stutter during playback, super annoying and distracting.

Is this Google’s way of telling me to f* off and buy the newer model? What can I possible do to fix this?

The only “fix” I found was turning off DV in Chromecast settings, but Stremio’s EXO Player still forces DV over HDR10.

Is your UNC TCU on Google Chromecast in ESPN Unlimited frozen? 2 hours on chat!

I got this year's subscription to ESPN Unlimited and tried to watch the UNC game.

Game opens frozen like it's been paused. Figured it was just ESPN weirdness, so I tried another game. That one works. Little League World Series works. Multiview with UNC and and Little League work. Now NFL game is frozen too.

This feels like something doesn't like hi-def broadcasts.

Phone app and browser are not frozen.

2 hours later, after support chat disconnected twice, I gave up.

Did anyone else experience this and is there a fix?

Chromecast (3rd Gen) WTH is wrong with casting from the Youtube app???

Since the new update dropped, the Youtube App on Android has become increasingly unusable with Chromecast. WTF???

As of today, I can't cast to my Chromecast from the app at all. No amount of restarts, reconnection attempts, or opening and closing the app again help any more. It says it's connecting, but it never does.

It just so happens I have an old tablet with a slightly older version of the app. Other than the fact that the tablet takes two business days to do anything, casting works just fine.

Has anyone found a fix or has Youtube at least gotten off their backsides and started working on a fix?

Help with my Chromecast HD

Hi everyone, I currently have a Chromecast HD that's a bit old, unfortunately it has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi problems (the Wi-Fi issue is very rare but it happens sometimes)The problem is that the audio on my Bluetooth headphones seems to be malfunctioning; there comes a point where everything goes silent, then it switches to the TV sound, and it disconnects the headphones. It even disconnects the remote control, and I can't reconnect it unless I restart it; I'm using a generic Google tv streamer remote All the remote control functions work (search for device and the special button)Although it also happens with the original controller (which I no longer use because it's quite damaged), is there something that causes it? I had to replace its original adapter with a 20W PD one because I felt that the original one was causing problems; it gets quite hot. I don't want to change it because I LOVE the Google TV system, and and other options are very expensive (even this same one has gone up too much in price second-hand)Do you think this Chromecast is nearing the end of its life?

Chromecast (2nd Gen) Casting Issue

When trying to cast from my Ipad to my Samsung TV, after i click the cast button, it's listing my Samsung TV as "Playing Youtube" but there's nothing playing. There's also a new icon on the upper right hand of the youtube app that shows "now playing" when i click on that it's from a video that i've never seen before and not the one that's open, but for some reason the TV thinks i'm casting that video. It almost feels like there's something hidden in the background that i can't get to. Anyone else have this issue?

Expanded storage on Chromecast with google tv

For many years I have been using a USB c hub made by Vemont and a 30w Anker USB-c charger to expand the storage. It worked great until Google forced android 14. I never asked for the update. Android 12 was working good and I disabled updates.

I enabled developer options and allow files to be written to external storage.

I was using a 64GB Lexar drive, and it was formatted as device storage. I had an additional 61GB of storage for applications which is more than I need. It gives me more room than the built-in storage.

Since Android 14, The external dive now says it can be safely ejected. Google is not letting me use external storage as device storage.

I take USB drive and connect it to computer to reformat it. This time as exFAT. I put it back to USB hub on Chromecast. It shows up in settings as external storage and the option to format it as device storage. I try to format it again as device storage. Then Chromecast reboots, and it again says the USB drive can be safely ejected.

I format the drive again in windows to exFAT and put it back to Chromecast but this time I just leave it as external storage.

I tried searching this problem on Google and there was some people having similar issue but with no real solution.
