Bad Experience at Artpark

I want to throw this out there because Artpark is deleting all negative comments on their posts.

We had a horrible experience at Artpark last night *trying* to see Sierra Ferrell. We headed out to Lewiston to get dinner. Show was still on. I was checking their social media frequently and they said that the opener was going on at 7:30 despite the weather. Called the box office at 7:45 pm and the concert was still on for lawn seats despite a tornado warning and lightening. No refunds.

We decide to see if we can see one song. They tell us because we have lawn seats we had to go back to our cars till 8:40 because the lawn was "closed." Refund only offered if they can't open up the lawn.

Go back at 8:40, they let us in. I grab some food, sit down in the lawn. Weather is still weathering.

9:00 as Sierra rolls out and GIANT GARAGE DOORS close us out and we are herded like cattle past a dozen police officers and made to leave like I wasn't supposed to be there in the first place.

No announcement. No communication.

They are offering a refund. Great. That should be minimum. They need to figure their sh*t out.

Question Rent A Friend?

Hello,

As an extra to my prior post about ECT, I need help getting home from each ECT appointment (6-12) plus a surgery.

I guess Uber is not acceptable under any circumstances and so only family and friends can help.

I have no family. I have 5 friends I reached out to that might help. But preparing for the worst and getting all my ducks in a row, is there a "rent a friend" service for situations like this? Depressing as hell, I know.

Without a friend to drive me home, I cannot do the ECT or surgery. And I guess medical transport/taxi isn't an option either.

So I'm putting out feelers to see if such a service exists, just in case.

I have a concern: please record your message and call back information - we will ghost you

Question Old country parkway playground?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Does anyone remember the old wooden playground at Country Parkway Elementary in Williamsville, around the 2000s–2010s? I’m trying to find a picture/name for one part of it: a large U-shaped wall made of connected tires that kind of sagged like a hammock and connected two sections of the playground. It wasn’t a normal tire bridge. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about or have an old photo? It’s sort of like this but i remember jumping from one side to the other.

Question Depew Amtrak Station Questions

I've picked people up at the Depew Amtrak station in the past, but I've never taken the train myself. I'm wondering if it's a safe place to leave my car for a weekend. Also Is it a safe place to wait for the train?

And any other tips you have about traveling out of that station would be much appreciated.

Question What’s happening with UBMD ?!

We’ve been having trouble contacting UBMD (Amherst) on Hopkins. They aren’t sending faxes or returning calls. They’re not doing needed paperwork.

I called today at 10pm, 1pm, and the answering machine said office closed but then said the office hours 830-430

Buffalo council members want to know what happened to clean sweep program

"Golombek also questioned whether the Common Council should have more input before the administration makes changes to city programs.

“There are people in the city and on the council who have been doing this for a while and understand what some of the problems are,” Golombek said. “The second floor of the Mayor's Office is trying to reinvent the wheel and make Buffalo into Erie County, and Buffalo is not Erie County.”

Golombek said Buffalo has its own set of problems and concerns and should not necessarily approach them in the same way as Erie County."

Shut up Joe, you've been on the council for nearly 30 years.

What are Local Stores that Buy Video Games?

I have a pretty big collection of PS2, PS3, PSP, and Gameboy games that I would like to sell as a bundle.

Are there any local stores that would give me a fair value for the games?

Unverified Attempted Abduction

PLEASE NOTE: I just received this info, I don’t have ANY description of anything yet, but I thought it over, and feel like I should share the little I do have.

A friend was walking in the West Side in the area of Massachusetts Ave near Chenango St about three hours ago. She was coming from the direction of Potomac. A car pulled up and a man attempted to pull her into the back seat of the car.

Two neighbors saw, and came over in time to grab her away from the man and fought him off. The man got in his car and got away.

Police were called and disclosed to those present that there was a similar abduction attempt on Massachusetts Ave today, prior to this incident. Supposedly another possible victim was observed in the back of the car.

I will provide additional info as I get it. I live in this neighborhood where this happened so I thought it best to at least share what I do have. Despite the intensity of some of the things happening around here it is simultaneously an active neighborhood in other ways with a fair amount of foot traffic.

I hope to get more info soon. Take care!

EDIT: I just received more information. This occurred on Massachusetts Ave, right near Richmond Ave and West Ferry.

Also - I just learned that the two neighbors who assisted my friend and walked her to her intended destination reported that they saw the vehicle engaged with the police at the corner of Massachusetts Ave and Plymouth Ave.

Relocation Local Car Rental Options?

Hi all,

I recently moved here from NC for a new job. I took a flight here and I was worried about how my 17 year old cat would do on a plane so I left him in the care of a friend back in NC, planning to drive down and get him this weekend so I would have an extra day to travel before returning to work. Well my car ended up getting stolen last week, then located after being abandoned after a minor accident. It's been in the shop for a few days and will probably be in for at least another week, so I was planning on renting a car for the drive. However, I underestimated how difficult/time consuming it would be to rent a car here with an out of state license, no credit card (debt free by choice), and minimal documentation since I'm still staying in a company provided hotel until my apartment lease starts on the 9th. I went to 3 different car rental chains today (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise) and all 3 technically accept debit card as payment, but have additional requirements such as a ticketed return itinerary, license with an address within 50 miles of the rental location, or utility bills from within the past 30 days.

Does anyone happen to know any local rental companies within ~30 miles that might be more flexible? I'm pretty much at my wits end here, my last resort is taking a bus to NYC and having a relative rent a car for me and just paying them for it, but then I'll have to drive back to Buffalo with my cat, and then drive another 5/6 hours to NYC just to return the car...and then take the bus back.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!
