NEEEEEERRRR WOOOOSSSSHHHHHH Heads-Up (literally): The Canadian International Airshow practice is scheduled for Friday, Sept 4th 12:00pm - 3:40pm
FAQ are here: https://www.cias.org/faq/
The actual shows will continue until the 7th at the same time, although we can expect less jets this year (no Amer*can F-35, F-16 teams)
Figured this is worth sharing in advance to hopefully avoid the "WHY JET OVERHEAD??" and "ARE WE GETTING INVADED??" posts tomorrow and through the weekend.
I know the show itself is always controversial, but since it's happening anyway I would suggest trying to take a few moments to look up and appreciate the engineering that went into making the machines regardless of other (potentially valid) opinions you may have.
You can learn more about the lineup here: https://www.cias.org/performers/
@mods I can't use the NEEEEEERRRR WOOOOSSSSHHHHHH flair for some reason, feel free to apply as you wish.

Article Prime Minister Mark Carney takes a dig at Maple Leafs’ Stanley Cup drought: “Our rail cars on our long-distance and remote routes are more than 70 years old. They were built when the NHL had six teams. Goalies wouldn’t wear a mask. The Leafs would win the cup.”

Discussion Super El Niño - what are we likely to see in Toronto?
Seems an apt time to bring this up given yesterdays weather - for those much smarter than me, how are we expecting the Super El Niño to affect Toronto and are folks doing anything specific to prepare?

Discussion Does anyone remember the twin women who would walk the streets of Toronto in the 90s?
This is a weird question but for those who lived in the city in the late 1990’s do you recall a pair of women who dressed identical in unusual clothes (picture purple long coat, headwrap, kind of costume-y and ethnic looking) and who would walk the streets side by side. They looked very similar but were probably not twins. Possibly they were mother and daughter. They would walk arm in arm in unison, not make eye contact or talk to anyone. I used to see them everywhere, randomly. I know I didn’t imagine it because my friends and I would talk about seeing them around and wonder what their deal was. Were they in a cult? Was it a mental illness?
