Student Question Student IDs in Residence

Did it take this long last year for students in residence to get their IDs? I ordered mine at the end of July, so I assumed I would've gotten it on move in day.

I'm short on funds until my student loans come in, so I was hoping to use my RCC funds for the time being. I only have a temporary card atm and I tried ordering Tims after class yesterday, I was told they needed the barcode to be able to process it ;-;

Admission Question Title: Can I apply to USask Nursing with a Humanities deficiency? (Hate my current class)

I’m currently in my pre-professional year trying to get into the BSN program. For my humanities requirement, I ended up taking Critical Thinking this semester. I honestly hate it already it looks way too hard and I'm really stressed about it ruining my GPA.

I wanted to swap it for a different humanities class, but literally everything else is completely full for this semester.

Does anyone know if I can just drop it and apply to nursing with a deficiency in my humanities requirement? Can I take that missing humanities class in the spring or summer semester instead before nursing officially starts?

If anyone else has applied with a deficiency or taken a prerequisite in the spring/summer, how did it affect your admission average?

Help me Stop Signs

I do understand that the hour of half past four is, historically speaking, a period of considerable activity upon the university grounds. One might even expect a modest accumulation of motor vehicles, for scholars and staff alike must, regrettably, return to their respective homes.

And yet, I must respectfully inquire: must it truly take half an hour merely to escape the premises?
At least, during the customary rush hour, traffic possessed the decency to move. Slowly, perhaps, but move it did. Today, however, I found myself trapped upon campus as though imprisoned by an exceedingly elaborate Victorian moat, surrounded by several hundred automobiles whose drivers appeared to have collectively forgotten the fundamental principles of forward motion.
I arrived at 4:30 with the modest expectation that I might eventually leave campus. A naïve ambition, as it turns out.

I therefore extend my sincerest gratitude to whatever administrative forces have contrived this most innovative system of vehicular gridlock. Truly, it is a remarkable achievement that one may traverse the entirety of campus in considerably less time than it takes to actually depart from it.
I remain, as ever,

Deeply humbled by the experience and only marginally resentful.

Discussion BMSC240 AI use by prof

I'm surprised nobody else has posted about this already but todays lecture was crazy, the AI infographic and meme were whatever but making us sit through 15 minutes of an AI slop video he generated was insane as well as him saying that he bought an 800$ claude license with his university account 😭😭 genuinely feels like a fever dream

Is AI use by profs just normalized now? Kind of sad honestly.

If anyone is finding they no longer need a parking pass or is just looking to sell one in general let me know. I’m more willing to pay for the cost of it and more!

Other Looking to do something different away from classes?

Like the title ask. Well? Do you?

If so, I highly suggest joining the U of S Ballroom Dancing Club. Students get a discounted rate! It's less than $10.00 per hour for 20 hours of lessons!

It's fun, a great way to meet new people, develop a new skill and help distract from stressful course loads. When I was a student it really helped my mental and physical health and improved my social skills while reducing anxiety. Plus it was my physical therapy.

They are currently in the arts tunnel until 2 today, if you do go by ask for "the crazy dance lady" for some candy and ask her questions! About anything!

If you miss out today, we will be on site at the Fireworks festival this weekend and at the Broadway Street Fair next weekend!

Question? Canvas notifications

Does anyone know how to clear notifications in the canvas app? I tried uninstalling it already. I have over 160 notifications because one of my prof's posted all the course material at once. SOS. 😭

Student Question Transportation to Brighton on weekday evenings and weekends?

I'm a first year university student and a lot of my assessments and events will happen in the evenings on weekdays and on weekends. However, the busses that go to where I live in Brighton (29, 529), are only available on weekdays until 5:45 PM. Looking at the transit app, the alternative routes would require at least an hour of walking. That would be incredibly inconvenient, especially in the winter. I can't afford a car and I don't have much money, so taking a taxi or an Uber won't be sustainable.

Are there other people in my situation who have found better means of transportation when the busses aren't available? Are there perhaps other busses to take that would decrease the walking time? I understand that Brighton is a new area but does anyone know of any plans to expand bus service there?

Social Life USASK older students

Hi all - now that fall semester has started, I wanted to extend an invitation to any older students (I hesitate to call us ‘mature’ students) to join our Discord server. It’s for any students who feel they don’t really fit in the usual age demographic at usask - maybe you started late, or you’re a single parent juggling parenting duties and school, or pursuing a mid-life career change, etc.

The server hasn’t been super active lately but a few of us managed 3 or 4 meetups at Louis’ last year.

DM me if you’d like a server invite!

Student Question BMSC 230 online vs in-person? Roesler

Is there a different between the online section and in person section of BMSC 230? I have Bill Roesler online but there's no recorded lectures!! mostly all just supplement materials. He's teaching the in-person as well right now. Unless the online is a bit easier it feels a bit rough and unfair.

Thank you in advance!
