Discussion Two week IMA closure!!
It was $96 for the summer quarter. That's like 15% of it gone! We should get the fee prorated. Or like a free yoga class. :(

Rant Credit max issue??
Hi , not sure if anyone else has had this issue before but basically my financial aid is being cut because i hit the 225 credit max (as of this fall) :/ now for background I did running start (i graduated with a associates of art) and now am an electrical engineering major. So they didn’t cleanly translate (lots of humanities vs lots of math) but so they’re counting my running start credits towards the 225. so i’m appealing but my advisor told me in her 8 years she’s never seen them approve an appeal with that many credits (like they won’t give me enough room to finish the last ~80-90 credits ish i need) . i’m just sooo lost because i basically can’t go without financial aid. and by transcript i have like 100 credits from uw, the rest are running start or community college (i paid for cc classes to speed up my graduation) and i did have to retake a few, which for engineering and horrible professors it makes sense. Like spring quarter i had to drop a class and now will retake- here’s the catch, the class average on the exam was 48/100. No curve or anything. I also work so that didn’t/doesnt help. and i just am SOO lost and so nervous and sad. No idea what im going to do and ive never heard of this. so i was wondering if anyone else has had this happen before?? Like do i drop out or transfer schools? or does anyone have experience that uw is forgiving ?? Like im genuinely soo upset over this because im more than halfway through my degree.

Discussion Didn't meet math transfer credit requirement what should I do
I took a math course (Math&153) at a cc during the summer taking that it will cover math 126 turns out I need to take an additional course so that it to cover math 126. Basically I didn't do anything this summer. What should I do now? As an international student I don't think I'm allow to take a class at cc when the quarter is starting, even if I can, there isnt anymore spot. I just signed up for Math 126 and 207 this quarter at the same time, do y'all think I will survive? with physics on top.

Admissions info major application
hi guys! applying for info this winter, everyone i know that applied got in- but the major has a 30% acceptance rate, whats the secret sauce?? 😆
real talk: would appreciate any guidance on what to be mindful of when applying. i am confident this major is a great fit for me and where i stand + what id like to do in the future so im really adamant in locking it down.
i have all the prerequisites complete, with a 4 in all the categories except for the statitics one where i have 3.0 (or maybe 3.2 cant remember rn). lowkey this part is stressing me out, will it tank me? I know that the biggest factor is the written questions but im worried.
Are there specific uw resources that can help guide or review my writing for the prompts? or anyone who got in that can give me examples of their past writings? Just curious on what works and what should be avoided!!
Thank you🥰

Thank you

Discussion Room dimensions of Steven's Court M-block D room
Hi all, a bit of a strange request, but I'd be thankful if anybody can help with it.
I'm trying to do a bit of dorm shopping before moving in, and am really interested to know the dimensions of my room in Steven's Court.
I have the "D" room in the 4 person 2 bath townhouse in the M building. It is the smallest room in the unit, and shares a wall with the stairwell (not the room with 2 windows). If possible, can someone provide the:
- General dimensions of the room (Width and Depth).
- Width of the door and window.
- Offset of the window from the left and right walls.
Thank you! Rough guesstimates are also welcome.

Admissions UW appeal not approved
Hello! I was hoping to receive advice and just to vent out my feelings right now. It’s been really hard to express this to other people because it feels like everyone got into the school. Opening my decision at a restaurant torn me to pieces, I cried and I had leave the restaurant immediately. I initially was waitlisted and later denied admission for Autumn Quarter 2026. And again, my appeal for UW was denied.
I honestly thought through my appeal I would have a better chance to explain why I had a decline in my academic performance. I had a tough year experiencing financial problems and the decline of my family members health that led me contributed to a tremendous amount of stress that I have not experienced before. This whole admission process honestly hurted me so much and I’m unsure if my transfer application would even get accepted at all.

Discussion IMA Job
Hi fellow UW students!
I have an interview coming up for a swim instructor position at UW’s IMA pool, and I was wondering if anyone here has worked in this position before. If so, what were your thoughts and experiences? Would you recommend the job?
Thanks!

New Student Fun freshman events?
Hi! Im an incoming freshman, and I'm making my itinerary for dawg daze, I was wondering if any sophmores or upperclassmen had events they really enjoyed going to, or things I really shouldn't miss! Also, if there's any events that aren't specifically on the dawg daze website but still exist that I should go to? Thank you!

Admissions Question to all Masters of Int. Studies students/graduates!!
Hello everyone!
Im fresh out of undergrad and looking to apply to masters programs this upcoming cycle. I really like the UW program, it looks great! My only concern is the final essays/oral exams. Even thinking about these things makes me stressed, I have no idea what sort of topic I'd do. I have published and presented a research paper at a conference but still I have concerns it'd be significantly more difficult at a graduate level. If any current students or graduates could advise me - do the program advisors/professors provide adequate support for these papers? And what does the oral exam look like? In my undergrad we had nothing like this so I just feel a bit intimidated by this!! Additionally to any current students - what is the work load like? Do you guys have any opportunities to be a TA/GA? Were the scholarship packages you were offered acceptable? (they tend to be a bit small for the social sciences..) Any and all help/advice is much much appreciated. Of course I'll do as much research as I can myself but word of mouth is weighted much higher to me than anything else.

Are the incoming interdisciplinary honors scholarships only for first-year students or are transfer students considered also? On the page it doesn't mention transfer students at all and is the main reason I wanted to apply for honors lol

Housing Nora Apartments Review??
I’m considering signing a lease at Nora Apartments and wanted to hear from anyone who has actually lived there. How was your experience overall? Any issues with management, maintenance, safety, utilities, noise, or getting your deposit back?
Would you recommend living there?

Campus Life DO NOT LIVE AT TRAILSIDE
I know to not expect any empathy or be shocked at how much student buildings like these squeeze every penny out of students, but wow for wall paint chipping off from their metal bedframe with no headboard (max a $5 job) they are charging tenants $115 DOLLARS. It's literally wear and tear!! It doesn't stop there, but for water stains I was charged ANOTHER $110. Please please do not sign here, I wish I didn't but found out about the rumors of management charging literally $100 for leaving behind a smudge too late after moving in. I'm disputing and escalating this further because I don't want to let this go, but also want to warn anyone potentially considering this place.

Rant How to Drop Out?
I'm looking for some advice on how to withdraw from UW. While it's a great school, I've realized it isn't the right fit for me (i.e loneliness, imposter syndrome, etc...). Could anyone walk me through the process? Do I simply drop my classes and reach out to financial aid, or is it necessary to meet with an academic advisor first?
Thanks for your help!

Discussion Might be a niche question to ask on here, but are there any rehearsals/traditions/performances/etc. for public spectators that the Husky Marching Band does on gameday?
I'm a midwesterner traveling out to the PNW in a number of weeks for the first time, and since I'm flying into Seattle I decided to buy tickets to a Husky game.
I did marching band and basketball band through my college years, so I love athletics bands. They're easily my favorite part of the gameday experience.
On gamedays at my school, we had a public rehearsal and some performances in the hours leading up to the game before doing our march through campus to the stadium.
I was just wondering if UW's band had anything like that? Or anything for spectators pre-game? In my experience, West Coast bands are a very different vibe than Midwest bands, so I'd love to see what y'alls gameday is like.
Also open to non-band related gameday suggestions, of course. I just figured the more niche band interest would be harder to find existing threads about.

New Student Move in
Hi everyone, I’m living on west campus this fall and I have literally looked everywhere for information about move in. I’ve watched the videos, dug through the HFS website, etc. Do we get an email about our queuing lot? Directions? Do you pick up room keys before you get in the queue and then wait? I know we get a flag for our certain dorm, but does anyone know anything else?
