Jake Browning played Quarterback for the Dawgs in the mid to late 2010s. Son of Oregon State Quarterback Ed Browning Jake was known for his high football IQ and accuracy. He earned Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year (‘16), First-Team All-Pac-12 (‘16), Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 (‘17, ‘18), Academic Second-Team All-Pac-12 (‘17) and Academic Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 (‘18) honors.

In advance of Week 1, here is a rundown on all games played by future Huskies opponents!

Only two of the Huskies' upcoming opponents were in action week 0, USC and Eastern Washington.

USC 42, SJSU 26. USC easily took care of SJSU at home, leading 28-0 at halftime and 35-3 to end the 3rd quarter before being outscored 23-7 in the 4th quarter. However, this was result was mainly because of Lincoln Riley putting in backups while SJSU stuck to their starters. USC's offense was humming on all cylinders against the Spartans, as starting quarterback Jayden Maiava was 25/29 (86%) for 286 yards and 2 TDs. 10 Trojans caught passes, and they averaged 4.1 yards per carry. We will see how the Trojans look against a better opponent and if they will continue to play to the level we saw in Week 0.

Eastern Washington 27, Northern Arizona 34. Eastern Washington suffered a shootout lost to Northern Arizona after stalling out in the redzone in their final drive of the game. They defended the pass pretty well, holding NAU to 164 yards and 55% completion percentage, but were gashed on the ground, surrendering 5.0 yards per carry to 40 rushes. NAU's quarterback picked up 61 yards on 8 carries and a score, which bodes well for Demond William's rushing ability. Offensively, EWU is an air raid team. They threw the ball 47 times, completing it 30 times for 307 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 int. They were not quite as dominant on the ground, being held to 122 total rush yards. I think if the Huskies can stop the pass, they will be able to defeat EWU easily.

It feels wrong for the Apple Cup to be played during the first week of the new season, and I know the Apple Cup doesn't have the same nostalgia that it used to, but nonetheless, with the new season coming up in a few days, what's everyone's Apple Cup prediction?

We're going to have four 5-star recruits on campus (DE Jalanie George, LB Tahj Gray, OT Antijuan Wilkes Jr., and WR DeAndre Bidden), and I would really like us to leave a good impression. I might be extremely biased, but I think the talent disparity between us and Wazzu is just way too big, and we end up blowing them out. If I had to guess, I'd say 42-14 UW.

2023 was probably one of the most competitive seasons for the PAC12 in recent years. And as nice as it was to have a conference championship game in Las Vegas, I still miss the old PAC10 when every team played every one else in the conference every year. (And you didn’t have to wait 2-3 years to see the Dawgs take on USC.)

My family is going to our first Husky game this weekend and I have this bleacher seat that's 18.5" wide. I haven't been able to find any information about max size limitations on UW's website. Do those in the know think this will be allowed into the stadium? It folds and has no pockets.

Corey Dillon was a Running Back for the Huskies for just one season but what a season he had setting several records. He finished the season with Third-Team All-American, First-Team Pac-10 and NCAA rushing touchdown leader honors in 1996.

Mario Bailey had the ability to create an explosive play every time he touched the football playing Wide Receiver for the Dawgs in the late 80s and early 90s. Mario earned Consensus All-American, First-Team All-Pac-10 and Pac-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors in 1991.

Washington Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch confirmed in a Monday news conference that, at least for the Apple Cup, Carr, Jayden Limar and Trey Cooley will all get significant reps and it will be a by-committee approach.

Jedd Fisch, Washington Huskies: Fisch is a coaching journeyman, making 11 college or NFL stops since 2008 and none for longer than three years. He enters his third season at Washington with a team that can build on last year's 9-4 mark and possibly return to the CFP. The 50-year-old has voiced a need for Washington to keep pace financially, especially given the spending of archrival Oregon and other Big Ten contenders. Florida and Michigan were both fits for Fisch but chose other candidates in the past cycle, so similar job opportunities likely would need to open to get him away from Seattle.

I just bought 2 tickets in sec 330 for $70 a piece on the secondary market. I originally wasn’t planning on going, but since the future of the series is up in the air, it’s an afternoon game and the seats were affordable I figured why not.

These three non-conference games should be wins, and anything less than that would be a profound disappointment.

vs Minnesota - WIN

The Golden Gophers finished 7-0 at home and 0-5 on the road, and we play them at home. They also lost their best defensive player, Koi Perich, to Oregon (boo).

The Trojans had the wheels fall off the bus defensively in the 4th quarter week 0 vs SJSU, and while that was a tune up game, Demond Williams has proven he can gash shaky defenses on the ground and through the air while our defense should be able to limit the Trojans offense. Also, even though we play on the road, the Trojan fans probably won't show up /j

vs Iowa - WIN (close)

The Hawkeyes always have a stout defense, which is something that has historically troubled Fisch teams, and this Husky team has a clear weakness on paper at skill positions on the offensive side of the ball. Obviously, this could change and there's a ton of upside there, and I think the Huskies should be able to have solid starters by this point in the season. The Hawkeyes also have a massive question mark at Quaterback and the Huskies have the advantage of facing them in Seattle, which is a huge boost, so I see them being able to take down Iowa.

@ Purdue - WIN

The Huskies should have no trouble against the bottom-feeders of the Big 10, no matter how much their AD wants to slander Indiana.

@ Nebraska - LOSS (Close)

I think the Huskies will drop their first game of the year on the road at Nebraska. The Huskies under Fisch have traditionally struggled on the road at home and Nebraska, despite recent mediocrity, is still home to one of the longest sell out streaks.

vs Penn St. - WIN

The Nittany Lions will be in a rebuilding year, trying to mesh a mediocre team from last year with a mediocre Iowa State team under Coach Campbell. While I think Campbell is a good coach and the Nittany Lions will be a dangerous team in the future, I think the Huskies should be able to beat them at home.

@ Michigan State - WIN

I anticipate the Huskies should roll, even on the road, in East Lansing against an almost entirely new Michigan State team.

vs Indiana - WIN (close)

This is definitely my most ambitious prediction, but I think the Huskies will be able to take down the Hoosiers at home. While Indiana is still a formidable team with an excellent coach in Cignetti, losing Mendoza is a massive blow to their offense and I don't think they'll be close to the same kind of magic that landed them the 2025-26 national championship.

@ 0regon - LOSS

This is by far (unfortunately) the best team the Huskies will play. As much as I'd love a win over the Schmucks, it'll take a phenomenal game from the Huskies to take down their rivals on the road - though anything can happen in rivalry games!

Floor: 7-5. I can't see the Huskies finishing worse than this, and it would take embarrassing losses to teams like Minnesota, Michigan State, Utah State, or Purdue as well as losing out against the top teams on their schedule to push the Huskies this low.

Ceiling: 12-1. The Huskies are a wild card especially with the unknown that is their offensive skill position group, but if the pieces come together Year 3 under Jedd Fisch will be a massive success and a CFP berth.

Prediction: 10-2. I think the Huskies will have a dominant year under Fisch and contend for a CFP berth as an at-large entrance. Their weak non-conference schedule will push them back, but if teams such as Nebraska, USC, Indiana, 0regon, and Iowa are top-25 teams their SoS should be able to boost them into the field.

Shaq Thompson was a Jack of All Trades for the Huskies in the early to mid 2010s. He played Corner, Linebacker, Safety and Running Back for the Dawgs. He earned First-Team All-American (‘14) and First-Team All-Pac-12 (‘14) and Second-Team Freshman All-American (‘12).

In terms of highest impact on winning I'm hoping there's a big breakout from our WR room. Otherwise Dylan Robinson seems primed to be UW's next great CB.

Napoleon Kaufman is considered by many to be the greatest Running Back in the history of the program. Running for the Dawgs he amassed three 1,000 yard seasons and earned First-Team All-Pac-10 (‘92, ‘93, ‘94), Third-Team All-American (‘93), Second-Team All-America (‘94), and Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year (‘94) honors.

Lawyer Milloy was an absolute thumper of a Safety for the Dawgs in the early to mid 90s. Known for his fearlessness, passion and intelligence he dominated the secondary. Lawyer earned unanimous All-American (‘95), the Jack Tatum Trophy (‘95) and First-Team All-Pac-10 (‘94, ‘95) honors as a Husky.
