Tech Support Decky dissapeared??
i’m really new to steam deck and linux but i’ve had this machine for maybe a month and messed seeing with decky loader and lossless scaler for some games and other plugins.
Then yesterday the plug logo disappeared from the right side menu completely??
i’ll be honest after some research and nothing working i just completely factory reset the whole steam deck!
Thinking this will be a nice clean install like the first time i did it but even after doing the whole thing like the first time…its still not showing up after i followed the EXACT same tutorial as before.
If anyone has any help they can offer id really appreciate it because while its not the worst experience without decky, it does really smooth over any issues i normally have and streamline the experience so much :)
UPDATE-
everyone is really helpful if i just waited a few hours my problem would have been solved probably lol thanks to everyone who suggested to reinstall again it worked first try!!

Game Review On Deck Onimusha Way of the sword on SD LCD
Game just came out, tested for an hour and seem like run kinda exactly like the extended demo. On default (Low setting with no Frame Gen) it run around 40-50FPS.
With Frame Gen FSR it cap at 60FPS (can go higher but I capped it), but I do see a small input lag which ruined my Issen timing a lot (or because I'm suck lol), so I turned it off and cap at 40FPS/Hz and the input lag gone, easier to timing Issen. So far there is no crash and little to no FPS drop.
It got the Playable badge but yet run better than some "Verified" titles

Video One of 2008’s highest tech game, played today at more than 2x performance and 96% less power draw
Yeah, playing games from 20 years ago is hardly an achievement. I’m purely fascinated with how little power the GPU needs to play MGS4.
The game was largely touted/considered a technological marvel for consoles at the time. Seeing it run so flawlessly on modern, low end hardware? I find that amazing.

Tech Support Deck does this every 1-2 hours… thoughts?
Some context: this is a 1TB OLED model that I got brand new earlier in the year. Only a few hours into use it had to be RMA’d in April due to being completely unresponsive (couldn’t even access BIOS or recovery image). Valve replaced the motherboard and sent it back to me and it was working fine until this week.
Now I get freezing every 1-2hrs, followed by these “prison” bars and a slow fade to black from right to left. Happens both in and out of games. Tried BIOS reset, didn’t work. Only fix is to shut down and reboot until it happens again. I haven’t made any mods to this deck and only use the official PSU.
I rolled back to a previous OS and it seems to happen way less frequently.
My original theory was a bad display connector, but if that’s the case surely rolling back wouldn’t help? Can this sort of thing happen due to corrupt OS files? It would be a shame to have to RMA it twice considering it’s supposed to be a brand new deck.

Discussion Onimusha Way of the Sword: Switch or Deck?
I know it's kind of trite as a comparison, but I can't really decide where to buy the game. I've seen some videos that would put the Switch on top, but considering what can be done on Deck with LSFG and tinkering with the graphic settings...
There's also the fact that sd cards for the Switch are very expensive right now, and I don't really want to buy too much stuff on it as it would mean filling it up pretty quickly.
Anyone has any insight about it?

Setup Surgery 1 of 2 done. Thankful for the steam deck and mechanism.
Photo might look silly but just wanted to show appreciation for steamdeck and mechanism. I had to get surgery on my ankle and I will be down for about 4 weeks. Using the steam deck to stream my PC through moonlight/apollo has been unreal in times like these. Just to be able to have a set up to play my games while recovering is such a boost to my mental health. I love that mechanism has some of their mounts available for 3d printing since I broke my last attachment on accident.
Really enjoying dragons dogma now that it got those performance touch ups. Really excited for the DLC coming out soon. Plan to play this until onimusha comes out tomorrow! But yeah I just wanted to make a little post about the set up and how awesome its been for me!
If anyone wants a little set up for laying on the couch, or maybe even in bed gaming check out Mechanism and check out getting a floor tablet stand. I got mine from Amazon for $35, also it has a 8 pound base so nothing should tip over in my use case. I had to order a jsaux case adapter and ball joint mount from mechanism. Using a controller connected via Bluetooth also.

Question Is there a way to message on SteamDeck?
I bought my 8 year old son a SteamDeck a few years ago. I have become very good at finding games and installing them from different sites for games steam does not offer.
On the days he is with his mother, I long to tell him
"I love you and goodnight"
Is there a way I can message him through my steam app i have on my android phone to his SteamDeck?

Tech Support Warhammer Rogue trader went from running well to crazy stuttering?
I was playing Rogue Trader exclusively docked and it actually was running well! Now I'm on act 2 and there's crazy stuttering and lag even in the character menu; tried turning down the resolution which helped briefly but it's back to stuttering.
Any tips on fixes?

Tech Support after four years, should i do any maintenance on my steam deck?
im from Colombia, i’ve had my steam deck for four years now, and i’m wondering whether it needs regular maintenance like a desktop computer or console—opening it up to clean it, checking or replacing any components, changing the thermal paste (i don’t think that’s necessary, but just as an example), etc.
i really want my steam deck to last as long as possible, so i’d like to take good care of it. i don’t use it too heavily: over the past four years, i’ve used it for one or two hours a day, around two or three times a week.
i replaced the internal storage myself, which brings me to another important point: i don’t think many people in my city own a steam deck, much less that there are technicians who know how to work on one. would you recommend doing any maintenance myself, or could i take it to a technician who isn’t familiar with the steam deck but has enough general knowledge to know what to do?

Tech Support Does the "maximum resolution" setting have any effect on streaming?
I stream from my gaming rig to my deck which in turn is connected to my 4k TV (LG C3 OLED). Nothing going over wifi, everything is wired directly to the router. If the game is running at 4k on my rig, is the resolution being output to my TV also 4k or will it be whatever the max output setting is on the deck?

Discussion Maybe you've already realised this but...
.. if you have a Steam Deck with games installed on an SD card, and a Steam Machine
You can plug the SD card into the Steam Machine and run those games without having to reinstall them
I already had cards with 2 x 512Gb and 1 x 256Gb so, my 512Gb Steam Machine has effectively got a total of 1.75Tb storage
I know the cards read and write slower but I just install any games locally when that's an issue
