Discussion The Blood Of Dawnwalker Absolutely Wasnt Ready For Launch, So Many Performance Issues As Well As Other Issues

  • terrible optimization, performance issues even on high end rigs using upscaling
  • bad movement, it feels janky and unresponsive, sometimes you just randomly stop moving for no reason especially on controller
  • Combat is bad, it isnt designed for multiple enemies and the soft lock on randomly moves the camera and decides who you are swinging at. Having a stamina system and no hitstun or stagger on your attacks is a bad combination
  • No HDR on PC, cutscenes locked at 30fps,, and no Daulsense controller icons
  • Janky animations and alot of wierd visual bugs

Kingston Fury Beast DDR5, 64GB (2x32), 6000 CL30-36-36

First desktop build. Before this I had a pretty good laptop.

64GB is more than I need right now. I'd rather not think about RAM again for a few years. I also do a bit of 3D modelling and run a few VMs.

Was randomly going through my old PC part orders and clicked on the RAM I bought in January 2025.

Paid £189.98 for the 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit.

Same listing now: £1,095.

Just thought it was mad seeing the difference side by side 😭

I think Be Quiet would be a cool because a lot of their branding is centered around 0 RPM modes and passive cooling

Discussion New to PC gaming and I'm having doubts

Post image

Hi. So I bought a desktop PC this summer and this is the first desktop PC I've owned in like 15 years. I am still very intimidated by this big purchase and I want to make sure I take care of it since my last experience with a desktop pc was a disaster (I was in middle school back then...). Anyways, I have wanted to try pc gaming for a long time, but I don't have confidence to build my own pc so I decided to buy a prebuilt. I also hope to go back to school and take some online classes next semester.

The first thing I did when I set up was download Norton antivirus (it's what I used back in the day but now I'm reading that it sucks and it's not even worth it). I also downloaded Nvidia because I heard I should update the GPU graphics. Tbh I feel intimidated by all the hardware and software terms and what I should and shouldn't mess with. I don't want to mess too much with it because I fear I'll mess it up. But I've been getting these pop up alerts from norton saying there are issues slowing my pc and that my connectivity driver has a problem and that it's affecting my wifi and bluetooth connections. There are a couple of issues I've seen where this might be the reason why but again, I'm intimated about what to mess with.

I just need some tips or advice as a new pc/desktop user. I researched the basics before purchasing but I didn't expect to run into issues so soon. I feel almost ready to return it.. For reference, I purchased the ibuypower element pulse x with the following specs. I love feedback but pls be nice (':

Story My Monitor Buying Advice: Just get something decent

I've had 5 monitors over the last 10 years. 2 VA, 1 IPS, and 2 OLED. From a very old TV up to nice QD OLED.

My main takeaway is to just buy something decent.

I've had 3 "high end gaming" monitors. They look gorgeous but they're kinda junk. Only the IPS lasted more than a year before needing to be replaced. The build quality was just not impressive.

I'd say to skip OLED if you aren't gaming at max settings with HDR and all that stuff. They're pretty and have great HDR but they can be twice the price of a decent IPS panel and most games have garbage HDR. I ended up never using that feature. Also, 160hz is cool but you'll likely never hit that unless you are on a top spec build. They're just not worth the added headache IMO.

The VA panels are still working. 1 is actually a TV and absolutely horrible as a monitor. The 2nd is a $100 unit 1080p with 60fps refresh rate. No HDR. It's still used as my 2nd monitor and it's certainly good enough for games.

So my advice is to get something decent. You can fret about color gamut and a bunch of other details, but honestly all of these monitors worked for gaming, even the 30fps TV (painful but you could do it). Aside from the TV I used them all for video editing as well and they all worked fine.

I feel like online discourse around monitors gets a little crazy sometimes but don't get talked into overspending because of fancy features or specs. Ideally your monitor is something you use and just don't think about. Unless you get an OLED. In that case, you opted to suffer for visual greatness.

Hardware Is discharging myself that important?

Basically, tomorow I'm gonna have to remove my GPU and SSD to add a heatsink since my current one doesn't have one. How worried should I be that I'll shock it with static electricity and how should I ground myself?

Hardware Team Red

I currently have a 3080ti, which is still very functional and I am happy with it. However, I have been dabbling with the idea of going to team red. Has anyone here made the switch from higher end Nvidia to higher end AMD? What did you look at to compare?

Hardware My PCONLINE laptop died after 5 months. My uncle thinks Geekbench permanently damaged my "CPU accelerators."

I ordered a laptop from PCONLINE. It worked fine for the last few months, but 5 months later, it randomly stopped working and went into an endless loop of Srt.Trail.txt. This usually means the system files are corrupted or there are broken drivers. I really don't like PCONLINE.

Oh yeah, by the way, when I first got this laptop, I installed one benchmarking app to test the CPU real quick and then uninstalled it. Now, my uncle thinks Geekbench permanently damaged the "CPU accelerators."

Because of this, I am looking for another laptop. DO NOT BUY from PCONLINE.

EDIT: They put a CHEAP TIMETEC SSD and unstable RAM I am trying to reinstall the OS now also the RAM was AN 8GB STICK 2666 MT/S AND A 32GB STICK 3200 MT/S oh yeah bTW just reinstalled the entire OS still having issues.

Discussion Did optimization used to be much better or do i have rose tinted glasses?

I realize there have been a lot of titles in recent years that were really unoptimized but even beyond that i feel like optimization has gotten much worse.

Im currently looking into upgrading my gpu (most likely to a 9070 GRE) and looking at benchmarks im kind of shocked to see that card often not managing 60fps 1440p in current releases. Games like Gothic remake, Death stranding 2 etc. These arent games known for being unoptimized or anything.

Even if we ignore the insane price hikes it feels weird to me that a middle class card of the current gen cant handle a maxxed 1440p.

I used to play on a 4k display with my 2070 back in like 2018 and had no issues in games like re2 remake, fallout 4, Doom, Prey etc.

Is this just the new normal?

Question How well will an RTX 5060Ti and 5700X PC handle next gen games? (How futureproof is it?)

I have a PS5 but I'm considering getting a gaming PC for the next generation instead of a PS6. However I'm new to looking at gaming PCs and want to make sure my PC is futureproof enough if I get one

I'm happy as long as I can comfortably run new games at decent settings (1080p 60fps) and won't need to upgrade for the next 5-8 years

If I buy a new PC with an RTX 5060Ti, Ryzen 5700X and 32GB RAM, how futureproof will it be / how long would it last in theory before I'd need to upgrade to keep up with new games?

Also how well will it be able to handle next gen games comfortably? (In theory since there isn't much PS6 info yet)

Specs I'm looking at:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X
  • RTX 5060 Ti Palit Dual
  • 32GB T-Force 3600 RAM
  • DeepCool 700W PSU
  • 1TB Kingston PCIe 4 Storage
  • ASRock A520M
  • Vida Akira V2 Black

Discussion RTX 2080 TI in 2026 your thoughts and opinions 11 GB RAM vs 8GB in other cards

So, I just got the PNY blower RTX 2080 Ti, upgrading from my RTX 2070. I was originally considering getting a RTX 3070 or 3060 Ti, especially since the RTX 5060 is so expensive nowadays.

However, I was wondering about the 11 GB of VRAM on the 2080 Ti. Is having 11 GB actually a significant advantage compared to cards that are limited to 8 GB?

From my experience, I haven't really seen games crash because of VRAM limitations, but I have experienced VRAM-related stuttering and texture issues, and after upgrading to the 2080 Ti, those problems seem to be completely gone.

The other thing I'm wondering is that NVIDIA doesn't really offer a card with similar performance and more than 8 GB of VRAM at a reasonable price. The only option I can find in the used market is something like the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, but that's still relatively expensive and isn't really a performance upgrade over the 2080 Ti.

So my question is: For 1440p gaming, would you prioritize having more VRAM over having a newer GPU with less VRAM?

Also, should I consider upgrading my Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 5 5600X, or is the 3600 still good enough for the RTX 2080 Ti?
