Thai police responded to an emergency call from a Thai citizen involving two American service members assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln who were involved in a physical fight outside of a bar in Pattaya at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning near the city’s famous Walking Street, a hub for nightlife, the Pattaya police superintendent told MS NOW.

In an interview, Col. Anek Srathongyoo called the incident “minor” but said the sailors were drunk and the Thai citizen who called the police was concerned that the brawl would escalate without intervention.

Thai police and members of the ship’s shore liaison group were dispatched by the Thai emergency call center to the incident. Two Americans were taken to the joint operations center run by the U.S. Navy and Thai local authorities at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pattaya.

Srathongyoo said the Americans were then taken back to the aircraft carrier, and in the daily meeting between U.S. Navy officials and Thai authorities to discuss security incidents and response, Navy officials told him those two service members have now been restricted to the ship for the rest of the port call.

Navy officials in Washington, Japan and Thailand have not responded to requests for comment about the incident from MS NOW.

Srathongyoo said that Thai police will only arrest an American service member if there is an incident involving a Thai citizen or if they break Thai law. He said he emphasized that to Navy officials and feels satisfied that the crew of the Lincoln was properly briefed on the consequences of their actions.

This is the only security incident Thai police are aware of relating to American service members during this port call so far, Srathongyoo said.

The alcohol-related incident comes as the 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard the beleaguered Lincoln are getting the first liberty port call of their more than nine-month deployment.

The crew has been involved in intense combat operations in the Iran war since it began in February, and the conditions on board came under scrutiny after family members of the sailors spoke out about food and supply shortages, as well as low morale and physical exhaustion.

Before stopping at port in Thailand, the commanding officer of the Lincoln had told the crew that there were some places in Pattaya that were off limits and that crew members were forbidden from activities like engaging in prostitution and using marijuana, according to a source familiar with the briefing who was granted anonymity to describe internal instructions. Service members were also told that any infraction of the rules would be met with the maximum punishment.

Srathongyoo said Thai police have set up extra patrols at six strategic checkpoints around the city to respond to any incidents related to the influx of Americans from the ship. He says Pattaya is a vacation spot and is accustomed to hosting foreigners.

The Lincoln is expected to depart Thailand on Sunday and is heading back to its home port of San Diego.

I physically feel for this boat and it's crew so much. Booty call in Thailand, they should've sailed straight to either Singapore or Hawaii, not Thailand. These men and women need home more than some pittstop in a backwards place like this. I've been there and the last thing these people need is alcohol, sex or drugs.

Not sure if I should put this in here or not. I absolutely hate using a sleeping bag in these racks. I’ve used a sleeping bag for a year now and can comfortably say I dislike it. I’ve used a comforter before and it wouldn’t keep me warm AT ALL. Is there any blanket I can use that’ll be able to keep me warm? And if so, any recommendations (please don’t suggest that marine woodie bc that material is going to make me pull out my hair). My berthing gets incredibly cold, and that doubles when I have the vent blowing straight into my rack. I tried looking online but the reviews are always mixed. Please help.

I have seen SGLI and Benefits go to ex-wives when there is a current spouse with their kids living at home questioning a CACO why don't I receive it. Disposition of remains has caused a lot of grief as well where a mom thought she was getting the remains but a dad, whom the deceased no longer talked to, was getting the remains for burial.

Im getting ready to colo with my spouse however when looking for my orders from checking in I realized I can’t find them. I was wondering if I actually needed them for checking out or if I’m stressing for no reason. This is my first command so I’m not sure how to go about this.

Why the hell do we have flankspeed accounts if I can't do something as simple as check my email from home?

I get that NVD exists, but that's solely for reservists. I have relatively important stuff on my email pertaining to orders but can't even access it because I'm on leave (despite bringing a CAC reader for this purpose).

Obviously I'll deal with this stuff over the phone and handle it, just venting that they have a perfectly usable Navy email that I can't actually access.

I went RC2AC and just spoke with the detailers. They gave me a list of orders to pick from, I selected a billet, then they responded back that they requested it for me. Is it guaranteed that I’ll get those orders now? They’re pretty sweet orders so I have no complaints, just don’t want to get my hopes up if there’s a chance I won’t get them. Also, how long does it usually take to get hard copies of orders?

Hello. I have a sailor who earned a good score they want to keep on their RKE, so they signed a page 13 waiving the exam 03SEP26. Their Evals have been updated on their EAW but not the awards. The AESO and ESO will not add a missing award because they are claiming a waived exam means no new awards points will be added. This contradicts the instruction in multiple ways, but they will not budge on this. Is there someone my sailor and I are missing that backs up their side of the arguement? Everything we can find states his EAW needs to be updated to reflect the award, regardless of if he waives the exam or not. Just wanted to see if someone knows more before we take this higher and potentially make a fool of ourselves. TIA!

For context I’m currently active duty and am applying to HSCP-PA Option for FY27.

I got accepted to a school, and so that’s plan A.

I’m wondering if the early separation for education is a possibility as well if I’m not selected as my plan B so that I wouldn’t have to give up my seat.

More context:

My program starts June 1st, and results for HSCP didn’t come out until like April in 2026, so I’d probably have to route the early out at the same time that my application is processing/waiting to board.

Anyone dealt with anything like this before? Will the Chief of Naval Personnel even consider this? Should I route the early out package like asap and just see what happens and if I am accepted to HSCP, just submit a 1306 to cancel it?

Let's say you have this situation...
Two E-6's at the same command, each with high or fairly high visibility positions...
They are in a romantic relationship...

Then the Female E-6 gets selected for OCS, and goes Mustang... I would imagine that normally, she would go to a different command, but the existing command lobbies to keep her, due to her expertise...

When she returns as an Ensign, she is NOT in the direct chain of command, regarding the Male E-6.

Is their relationship, due to "no fraternization" rules just "Shit out of luck" or does the Navy have some kind of policy for existing relationships...?

Hey all! So as the the title says, I PNA-no points my last RKE, picked BBA orders for the first time recently, and then my command says I don’t need to take the RKE this cycle, and now they’re making me take it.

Can I refuse to take it since I passed it already? What happens if I score lower/worse? Will this screw me over?

I’m in a special shore duty so I’m away from my in-rate stuff. And ngl scared to take it and fail and screw me over.
