Windows 11 Anyone know how I can stop my screen doing this?

Post image
1 Upvotes

It happens every time I receive a notification, and no mention of it is in the settings. Is it because I'm using force dark mode on the browser? Happens on Microsoft edge as well, no error ever, just a revert in every color on the screen when I get an email or notification.

Specs: Intel core ultra 7, 16.0 GB of RAM, graphics card: Intel(R) graphics (128MB) and 278GB of 477GB, 64-bit operating system

Windows 11 Win11 Upload files window has UI bug?

Windows 11 25H2 latest stable build..

When ever you click attach/upload files button on any website and it opens up this window and by default it opens up downloads folder as you can see in the top path but in the side pane it highlights Desktop which is wrong and confusing. If i click on downloads in the side pane and then click on desktop again it shows desktop items in the windows. From there it highlights the correct thing which is shown but initially it always shows wrong.

Can anybody replicate this? Or am i missing something?

Windows 11 Touchpad driver refuses to reinstall even after restarting.

I use an Insprion 15 3520. My touchpad wasn't working, so after trying all other options and none working, I uninstalled it and restarted my laptop, as it's supposed to reinstall automatically. Nope. Not there. So I check the Dell site and try and download the driver from there. It downloads, but when I open it, it says theres "no driver to update." Obviously. I'm just sort of lost on what I'm supposed to do right now.

Windows 11 Cannot click while pressing any other button

Using Windows 11

Started yesterday. Noticed while trying to play a game that my left click was refusing to work randomly, and I figured it was just my old mouse finally imploding.

I got a new mouse today - and the problem persisted, meaning it's not a mouse problem.

I've figured out that I cannot left click while pressing any other button (and for about two seconds after pressing a button), however I can right click. Meaning I really can't play any game on a gaming laptop.

I really need to fix this.

What I have tried -

Messing with touchpad settings (I literally just uninstalled the touchpad software)

Turned off sticky, filter, and toggle keys in keyboard settings

Restarted several times

Using external software (X mouse) to block inputs of mouse button 4 and 5, though not fully tried as X mouse binded my left click to a browser tab for some reason

Windows 11 Windows Security shows a warning icon on startup, but everything is green when I open it

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been seeing something odd with Windows Security. After I start my PC, the Windows Security icon in the taskbar shows a yellow warning symbol, as if some action is required. But when I click it, the Windows Security panel opens and everything is green, no actions needed. If I don’t click anything, the warning disappears on its own after about a minute it turns into the normal green checkmark. I’m only using Windows Defender, no third‑party antivirus. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Windows 11 My headphones aren't working on Windows 11/there's a driver issue.

So, I bought myself a Colorful P15 23 laptop. The problem is that the speakers work, but when I plug in my headphones, they show up as speakers, and ultimately there's no sound. I've tried everything, and nothing helps. At first, I simply uninstalled the drivers and waited for a miracle after rebooting, but nothing worked. I found audio drivers on the official website. They uninstalled them from Windows and asked me to reboot the laptop. Miraculously, the headphones and sound work, but then the driver installation program opens and uninstalls them, followed by an error message saying there are no drivers that work for me, error -0001. I tried closing the app, turning off the laptop after rebooting, and disconnecting the internet, but still nothing helped. If you need any further information, I'll let you know. A savior may be found.I tried closing the app, turning off the laptop after rebooting, and disconnecting the internet, but still nothing helped. Windows 11 Swapping from LinuxMint back to windows 11 and am getting an error during installation

Hey, fellas.

I was switching back to Windows 11 and while I was able to set up the boot USB just fine, when I went to install it I got what seems to be a driver error. I then tried it on another pc and got the same error, so I assumed it was an error with the version, so I got a slightly older iso (23H something) but the problem persisted.

I have a few photos attached that might help. It seems like it is detecting the ssd, so it probably isn't an issue of that caliber, both the bios and through list disk, it shows up, but when I click to browse on the box that is asking me what driver to install, it doesn't show up, I only get the boot drive and the Placeholder thing (X:)

Also when I installed LinuxMint (December 2025) there were no problems whatsoever. Idk what the issue is, if it is just outdated drivers, I also am not sure how to update them. Can anyone help?

Additional info:

Motherboard: TUF GAMING B460-M (wi-fi)

CPU: intel i5-10400f

SSD: KBG40ZNS512G NVMe KIOXIA

Windows 11 My Laptop Keeps Black Screening After a Couple of Seconds of Being Opened

Every time I open my laptop or power on, in a couple of minutes, the screen turns black screen and I do not know what to do. When searched it up on google it said there are ways to fix it; however, it did not helped at all. It only worked when I press the power button for couple of second but it only work if I did it for multiple times. Sometimes it shows the screen small and on a top left side of my screen. I want to fix this problem permanently and I want your assistance, since google did not helped and some of the Youtube videos I've watch did not work either. Here are the following information:

Device Info:
OS: Windows 11
Version: 25H2
OS Build: 26200.9278
Update: KB5122385
System Type: 64bit, ARM-based processor
Type of Laptop: ASUS Vivobook S 16
Processor: Snapdragon(R) X - X126100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU (2.96 GHz)
Graphics Card: Qualcomm(R) Adreno(TM) X1-45 GPU (128 MB)

Error Messages: None

Troubleshooting:
-It is not caused by the temperature of the processor.
-The Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does not work.
-It only worked when I press the power button for 40 seconds; however, it only worked if I did this process a couple of time, and if it did work, the screen is small and placed on the top-left side of my screen. I even went into settings to increase the size but it said it is in default. After I can see the small screen, I restart my laptop then it is back to normal, sometimes. If the restart did not work I have to do the process all over again.
-Opening the laptop with the charger on, did not work.
-The problem always happens when I shut down my laptop and powering on again, and wait for a couple of minutes, then the screen goes black again.

Windows 10 Windows Explorer crashes / files disappear when I click them?

Hi everyone, I'm having a really weird problem with my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop that started today and I'm honestly not sure what the hell is going on.

Basically, when I click on certain files or shortcuts in File Explorer/Desktop, Windows says:

"Can't find this item. This item is no longer located in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop. Verify the item's location and try again."

The weird part is that the files are actually there. For example, I was testing some PDFs in my Downloads folder. I can click/open several of them normally, but then I'll click another random PDF and as soon as I click it, it disappears from the folder and I get the error above. It's not just PDFs either.

It also happens with several shortcuts related to my Epson printer software. When I click them, they disappear and I get the same error. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Epson programs, but it didn't help.

After triggering the error several times (sometimes 10-20 times), Windows Explorer seems to crash/restart. The desktop and taskbar disappear for a moment and then come back, so I assume explorer.exe is crashing rather than the whole PC rebooting.

I'm wondering if this could be a corrupted Windows/NTFS filesystem or maybe an SSD problem? Or could something like an antivirus (I have Avira installed) be interfering with Explorer?

What's especially weird to me is that some files work perfectly while others randomly trigger the problem, even though they have been sitting in my Downloads folder for months.

I've already tried reinstalling the affected programs, but I'd rather not start doing random repairs or reinstalling Windows before knowing what's actually wrong.

Any ideas on what I should check first? Could this be an Explorer/filesystem issue, and what's the safest way to diagnose/fix it?

I can provide screenshots or run commands if needed. Thanks!

Windows 11 SSD *Full Repair Needed* Error Remains After Repair

At startup, my PC has been trying to repair the SSD, yet it still remains "damaged" after repair. I've checked it using chkdsk in the command prompt and it mentioned that "steam cache files" were damaged/corrupted.

I've tried deleting the files and restarting steam, as well as deleting and reinstalling the application, yet the same error appears when using chkdsk.

Would this be a software error (i.e. the system keeps indicating an error despite nothing being wrong) or is this indicative of SSD failure?

*The SSD is around 6 years old.

Thanks ahead of time!

Windows 11 Windows 11 suddenly has no Wi-Fi option – Realtek 8822BU USB adapter detected for Bluetooth but not Wi-Fi

Hi, I'm having a really strange Wi-Fi problem on my desktop and I'm running out of ideas.

My Wi-Fi suddenly disappeared after a Windows update. There is now no Wi-Fi option at all in Windows Settings, and my Wi-Fi USB adapter doesn't appear under Network Adapters in Device Manager.

My PC:

- Motherboard: MSI PRO H610M-G DDR4 (MS-7D46)

- CPU: Intel i5-12400F

- Windows 11

- Wi-Fi is NOT built into the motherboard – I use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.

The Wi-Fi adapter:

It's a USB AC1300 dual-band adapter with Bluetooth 5.0 and two flip-up antennas. It says "2.5G and 5G" on it.

I tested the exact same adapter on another laptop and it works perfectly, so the adapter itself isn't dead.

On the working laptop, Device Manager identifies the Wi-Fi adapter as:

Realtek 8822BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC

Hardware IDs:

"USB\VID_0BDA&PID_B82C&REV_0210&MI_02"

"USB\VID_0BDA&PID_B82C&MI_02"

The strange part is that on my desktop, Bluetooth from the same USB adapter works. If I unplug the adapter, the Bluetooth device disappears from Device Manager; when I plug it back in, it returns as:

Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter

However, the Wi-Fi portion never appears.

What I've tried:

- Restarting Windows multiple times

- Unplugging/replugging the adapter

- Trying different USB ports

- Checking Device Manager

- Enabling "Show hidden devices"

- Checking Network Adapters

- Checking Bluetooth

- Checking Other Devices

- Checking USB controllers

- Windows network troubleshooting

- Windows Network Reset

- Full network reset

- Installing/reinstalling the Realtek driver

- Scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager

- "pnputil /scan-devices"

- "pnputil /enum-devices /problem /deviceids"

- Installing the Realtek 8822BU driver package manually from Microsoft Update Catalog

I downloaded the current Microsoft driver package for Realtek 8822BU (1030.52.1216.2025) and extracted/installed it with:

"pnputil /add-driver C:\8822BU\*.inf /install"

It reported:

"Driver package added successfully. (Already exists in the system)"

So Windows now definitely has the driver package installed.

I then scanned for devices again, but the Wi-Fi adapter still didn't appear.

I also checked for problem devices with:

"pnputil /enum-devices /problem /deviceids"

and it returned no devices.

The only part of the USB adapter Windows seems to enumerate is the Bluetooth interface. The Wi-Fi interface ("MI_02") isn't showing up at all.

I've also checked BIOS, but my motherboard doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi anyway.

What I'm trying to figure out:

Why would Windows detect the Bluetooth portion of the USB adapter but completely fail to enumerate the Wi-Fi portion, even though:

  1. The adapter works perfectly on another laptop.

  2. Windows has the correct Realtek 8822BU driver installed.

  3. There are no problem devices showing in Device Manager.

  4. Scanning for new hardware doesn't make the Wi-Fi interface appear.

Is there anything else I can check to force Windows to enumerate the Wi-Fi interface?

I'd really rather avoid doing a full Windows reset if possible.

Any help would be massively appreciated because I've been troubleshooting this for ages.

Windows 11 Did anyone not update Windows 11 in August?

The Aug 12 2026 cumulative (KB5121003) shipped a hidi2c.sys at 10.0.26100.8972 that breaks Elan trackpads. It doesn't re-initialize the bus on sleep resume. The trackpad stutters then freezes on wake. There's no workaround other than disabling sleep. [I stupidly deleted my Windows.old so there's no rollback.]

I need one file from a such a machine. It is in all installations:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\hidi2c.sys

I need just the one .sys, no other files. DM me if you want. Also tell me if you're on 25H2 or what. It's probably the same file. on 24H2 et al.

Windows 11 Has my PC broken or is there an explanation?

I tried to free up some storage on my laptop, which had 0MB of stoarge free when I did. I uninstalled a 35GB game (league of legends) and it still shows up like this. Is this a visual bug, do I genuinely have no storage at all or is there something else at play?

Windows 11 something happened and your pin isn't available windows 11

So this is happening a little too frequently now. Using gemini I've done something twice now. But I want to know why it keeps happening. So this has happened with about 2 or 3 weeks of gap. Another thing is that around a month ago I got an virus while trying to download a game online. I installed malwarebytes and deleted it by doing multiple deep rootkit scans. But I don't think that could the be case it happened around 2 weeks before my first instance of pin breaking. Then it happened yesterday.

Phase 1: Wipe the Corrupted Security Folder

First, we need to force Windows to delete the hidden folder where it stores your broken PIN data.

Click the Start button, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator. Click Yes if a security prompt appears.

Copy and paste the following command into the window and press Enter. This forces Windows to hand over ownership of the hidden security folder to you:

takeown /f C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc /r /d y

Copy and paste this next command and press Enter. This grants your administrator account full permission to modify the files inside:

icacls C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc /grant administrators:F /t

Finally, copy and paste this command and press Enter. This permanently deletes the folder and flushes out the corrupted PIN tokens:

rd /s /q C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc

You can now close the Command Prompt window.

Phase 2: Clear the TPM Security Chip

Next, we need to wipe the motherboard's hardware chip so it drops the old encryption keys.

Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type tpm.msc and press Enter.

In the TPM Management window, look at the Actions panel on the far right side and click Clear TPM.

A warning box will pop up. Click Restart.

Important: As your laptop restarts, watch the screen. It may display a black screen with white text asking you to press a specific key (often F12, F1, or Esc) to confirm the TPM wipe. Press the requested key. If it skips this and boots straight to the lock screen, the wipe was handled automatically.

Phase 3: Set Up the Fresh PIN

Now that both the software cache and hardware keys are completely blank, you can establish a clean PIN.

On the lock screen, click Sign-in options and select the password icon to log in using your standard account password.

Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

Click on PIN (Windows Hello).

Click Set up (or Add), verify your password, and type in your new PIN.

Hey all, I "upgraded" to windows 11 a few months ago. On my old PC, which was windows 10, I had Godot. I decided to get back into it on this PC, and I noticed that upon launching it through the taskbar, I get this warning. Going to the location it says stops at Quick Launch. It's not too much of an issue that I can't launch it through the taskbar, but it'd be nice :) -- OS build 26200.9168

Windows 11 Taskbar and screen goes into some type of ”darkmode” and my screen flashes white when i do lots of stuff on my pc

So every time I open a tab to watch YouTube or just do something on my PC, sometimes the taskbar get this ”dark mode” on it, i dont think its feature beacuse i looks really bad and the home screen also gets “dimmed” but not the tab i am in which is Weird. Sometimes my screen flashes white as well. The black bar doesn’t appear while I’m playing games, but the white flashing does.

I’ve tried changing the DisplayPort cable/port on both my graphics card and monitor, reinstalling and updating both Windows and my graphics drivers, and lowering the refresh rate (Hz) on my monitor, but nothing seems to work.

I’m just worried that my GPU might be failing or something. However, the performance in games is exactly the same as before.

(Sorry for the bad picture it was really hard to catch beacuse it happens so randomly)

I’d really appreciate any help I can get :)

Windows 11 Windows 11 25H2 monthly cumulative updates repeatedly break my Storage Spaces volume - NTFS won't mount (0xc0000102), data is fine, uninstalling fixes it every time. Anyone else?

Just posting here to see if anyone else is having this issue

TL;DR: On Windows 11 25H2, every monthly cumulative update since 26200.8737 makes my Storage Spaces parity volume fail to mount - it shows as RAW / "corrupt and unreadable." The pool and disks are healthy and the data is intact (read-only chkdsk finds zero problems), and uninstalling the update restores the volume every time. Happened in July (KB5100998 / KB5121767) and again today (KB5120998). I'm now stuck on build 26200.8737 because I can't take any newer update without losing the drive. Feedback Hub report got no traction; MS support just pointed me back to Feedback Hub - https://aka.ms/AA12z96q. Anyone else seeing this, and is there a permanent fix?

Setup

  • Windows 11 Pro 25H2, currently parked on build 26200.8737 (last build where the volume mounts)
  • Storage Spaces: 3× 3TB WD Red (WD30EFRX), single-parity space, ~5.45 TB NTFS volume (J:, "JukeBox"), 4K native (4096 bytes/sector)
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D / ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F / 32 GB

Symptom (identical each time)

  • After the update + reboot, Get-Volume J shows FileSystemType Unknown, Size 0, OperationalStatus Unknown; Explorer says the drive is corrupt/unreadable.
  • Pool, virtual disk, and all 3 physical disks report Healthy/OK. No storage jobs, no SMART/reliability errors.
  • Read-only chkdsk J: scans the whole volume and reports no problems (file records, indexes, USN all clean).
  • NTFS logs Event 305 on repeat, error 0xc0000102 (STATUS_FILE_CORRUPT_ERROR).
  • Uninstalling the offending update + reboot brings J: back as NTFS at full size, no data loss.

Reproducible across multiple updates

  • July 2026: broke on build 26200.8894 (KB5121767 out-of-band LCU; KB5100998 .NET alongside). Rolled back to 26200.8737 → fixed.
  • Sept 2026 (today): broke again after KB5120998. Uninstalled → back to 26200.8737, Storage Spaces working again.
  • Note: in July the corruption was reported in the NTFS reparse index, and I had ~100k OneDrive Files-On-Demand placeholders on that volume. I've since moved OneDrive off it — the files there now are full files, not stubs — and it still broke. So it isn't tied to reparse points; it seems to hit Storage Spaces NTFS volumes generally (possibly 4Kn ones).

The event (Ntfs/Operational, Event 305):

Provider: Microsoft-Windows-Ntfs EventID: 305 Level: Error

Volume: J: (JukeBox) Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume12

ProductId: "Storage Space" BusType: 16 (Storage Spaces) DeviceNumber: 6

IsBootVolume: false NativeNVMe: false

Error: 0xc0000102 (STATUS_FILE_CORRUPT_ERROR)

RestartApplied: true

MountStageSourceTag: 0x1f200460f0e

What I've tried

  • Read-only chkdsk (clean), Repair-Volume (won't even start — volume won't come online), disconnect/reconnect the virtual disk — none help.
  • Only fix: uninstall the monthly update and pause updates.
  • Filed Feedback Hub (no comments/upvotes). "Get Help" ticket → bounced back to Feedback Hub. Tech Community suggested by support, but it's currently down.

Questions

  1. Anyone else with Storage Spaces (especially parity / 4K native) whose volumes fail to mount after 25H2 monthly updates?
  2. Any permanent workaround short of uninstalling every month — a Known Issue Rollback, registry/driver tweak, anything?
  3. Is there a Microsoft Release Health / known-issue entry I've missed?

Happy to share full logs (Event 305/55, System log, before/after Get-Volume).

Windows 11 PSA: If you're unable to use your Windows N key to activate a Vmware Fusion virtual machine (on arm)

If you have a mac and use VMware Fusion to run windows apps, and are also a student with access to the free Azure Student windows keys, you may try to use the N edition key as a second license after using up the normal edition key. This PSA is both an informational message as well as wondering if anyone has figured out how to make this work.

Legal notice: All information provided in this online forum post is provided for entertainment purposes only. I have no idea what I'm talking about and nothing about this message is trustworthy. You should not act on the advice of me, a clueless person on the internet.

The issue is that Microsoft (to my knowledge) does not distribute a ARM version of the N edition of windows 11. The Azure website offers a normal and N key, so trying to use the N key seems impossible if you're on a ARM processor (If I'm wrong here, PLEASE let me know!), because the N version of windows is a stripped down version that cannot be switched TO (only FROM; i.e., you can reinstall an update package to Windows N edition to restore most of the functionality). However, in-place updating, as well as key-based automatic version switching (entering a key into settings) does not work (to switch to a N edition.). Therefore, I've reasoned that it isn't possible to utilize the second Azure key, if you have a ARM processor, i.e. all modern macbooks.

Again, if I'm wrong, PLEASE do not hesitate to let me know.

To save you the time of testing the following things yourself:

As of September 2 2026:

  1. The ISO I got from Windows 11 Arm ISO website, when booted, only offers Home, Home SL, and Pro editions. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11arm64)

1.1) Furthermore, according to a forum post, the ISO secretly includes other editions that can be accessed with either a valid key or a generic key. I tested Windows Education generic key, Windows N Education generic key, and my Azure Win N Edu key and all were rejected. (I tested on a English USA iso as well as a French language iso)

2) Installing Windows 11 Education (normal edition) first, then changing the key in settings to switch editions, does not work (key rejected as incompatible). I tested this on a Windows 11 Home 25H2 as well as, today, on a Windows 11 Education fresh install.

3) It's therefore considerable to stop and think before activating your Normal Edition azure windows key, if you might be using an ARM device like a macbook, because you may not be able to use the N edition key on ARM.

Remember to adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, terms and conditions, and agreements, and to use your Azure keys only as authorized by the agreements you are subject to. Remember to not follow any of my advice because I'm totally clueless and have no idea what I'm talking about.

As always please (constructively and clearly) let me know if I'm wrong, that's the whole point.

Windows 11 Problem with new installation of Windows 11

Hi, I have reinstalled Windows 11 on my computer twice and both times it is giving me errors when i go on the internet, It is ok for about a minute and then it crashes. On Edge it is Error code RESULT-CODE-KILLED-BAD-MESSAGE and on chrome it is STATUS-ILLEGAL-INSTRUCTION . The PC is on wired and wireless connections. Any suggestions please I just want my PC back up and running.
