SL8 is perfect for me, i want to move from Macbook M1, but the only deal breaker is the glare on Youtube videos, have they improved it or is it even that bad in reality? I use a lot of dark mode, on my m1 I can see lights in the background but its dim but i can't seem myself, any reflections are blurred or sillouhettes
On the SL8 am I going to be able to look at myself and see my eyes like a mirror?

Hey everyone, the fan on my Surface Pro 8 has started making a constant scraping or brushing sound—like it's hitting something—which is different from how it used to sound. Does anyone know a fix for this?
I'm running Linux 6.19.8-arch1-3-surface.

Hello people!
I've recently gotten into a university and I'm looking for a device to use for the next 3-4 years. Because of a restricted budget (~$170), I don't really have that many options to choose from.
After a bit of searching on secondhand markets, there are two options that stood out for me: the M3 Surface Go 2 (8/128) and the i5 Pro 5 (either 8/128 or 8/256 based on the condition).
My usage:
- Reading PDF files.
- Using basic Office tasks (mainly Excel and Powerpoint).
- Minecraft at low settings (8-12 chunks, lower settings with Sodium).
- Porting to an external display for home usage.
I would also be bringing the device around a lot so a dependable battery life would also be great.
Which device should I go for? Thank you!

Hum, so I know that in Europe power bricks have to be optional. But this sounds slightly expensive... https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/store/configure/surface-laptop-13-8-inch-8th-edition/8mzbmmcjzpmf

It is not responding anymore? Should I just let it dry or get a new one?

Hi, trying to decide between some laptops that I can order at my job and have a question about the Surface Laptop 8 Intel X7.
I have a 5120x2160 (5K2K WUHD) monitor with built-in Thunderbolt dock that is connected to another QHD monitor 2560 x 1440 via Thunderbolt Daisy Chain. On my current Thinkpad I connect a single TB cable to my first monitor and get the full resolution on both at 60hz (the monitor also charges the laptop and I'm fine with the refresh rate).
Will I be able to do the same thing with the Surface Laptop 8 or is someone doing the exact same thing with a prior model? Getting some conflicting information on this. Thank you.

Hi - has anyone tried to disable Windows spotlight on a Surface Pro 11? It is the app/setting that gives you new desktop and/or lock screen pictures.
While I enjoyed the pictures it gave me, I want to disable it. I have tried selecting a specific picture on my Surface for the background and the lock screen, but that didn't do it.
I also edited the registry to disable it, but that didn't do it either.
It is just annoying. Anyone have a fix for this? From what I can tell MS knows about this and suggests to edit the registry, but that obviously didn't work.
Ideas? Thanks in advance

Tested with RTX Spark 616 Windows drivers. There's still a significant bottleneck and feels duct taped together, but it "works".

There are issues with resizable bar in the GPU, but someone found a clever fix:
https://github.com/ProgrammerIn-wonderland/Surface-Laptop-7-ACPI-eGPU
Everything runs like dogshit. GPU utilization stays very low, below 50% most of the time. I was also able to run CyberPunk 2077 at 1280x1024 (Surface Laptop and its stupid resolutions) and was only able to achieve 68fps in the benchmark.
It works in only the most literal sense. Not really useful for gaming yet but it was fun to work through the process and see it run.

Currently eyeing up the Surface Pro 12-inch for my general day to day productivity. I personally think the current gen is more than sufficient enough for my needs but I also don't mind as much waiting if there's a rumored next generation in the works or there's a probability one comes out in the next year, banking on the chance that it comes with the newer gen Snapdragon processor and improvements to the display or whatnot. Regardless, would that kind of wait even be worth it or is it completely fine I just get it now?

Hi,
I have a Surface Pro 11th edition, model 2076 tablet with the slim pen and pro keyboard attached. The BIOS version is 175.222.235 02/23/2026. The keyboard firmware is 28.106.139.
I am having issues with a few keys typing additional letters. The only keys affected are below:
Typing 'm' displays 'mn'
Typing 'd' displays 'sd'
Typing 'o' displays 'uo'
Typing '9' displays '89'
I have performed all the suggestions that I have found online:
Uninstalling keyboard drivers
Detaching and reattaching the keyboard
Using air to clean the keyboard
Sticky keys and related settings are all turned off.
All device drivers and Windows updates are current
The connector port has been cleaned
Surface diagnostics does not find a problem
As you can imagine, it is difficult to type using the keyboard. I have spent hours trying to fix this issue. After a while of sitting, the keyboard will work for a day or two and then the problem reappears.
If anyone has a recommendation on how to fix this, I would appreciate it. I don't have the money to drop on a new keyboard.
Thank you.

Just purchased a surface pro 11 tablet. Started the initial setup, followed the prompts, when it gets to the WiFi & asks for a password it won't allow me to type anything in the text box, the pop-up key board doesnt show up, if I access the accessibility keyboard, it shows up but won't allow me to type anything in the text box.
If I use my public Wi-Fi (no PW required), when I get to the text box to add my name & email address, same issues.
Any thoughts on what to do?
I've tried shutting it down, holding power button for 15-20 seconds.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello!
I recently purchased a 13" Surface Pro for university, mainly for note-taking, web browsing, reading, media consumption, and other light tasks.
I was wondering, though, whether it’s capable of running some AAA games from around 2018–2023. I’m thinking of games like Red Dead Redemption 2, A Plague Tale, The Witcher 3, and GTA V.
I’m not expecting gaming-laptop-level performance or ultra settings. Ideally, I’d be happy with around 50–60 FPS at 1080p on low/medium settings for some casual gaming in my free time.
Has anyone here tried gaming on the Surface Pro 13"? How does it handle these kinds of games, and what kind of performance can I realistically expect?
Thank you

My first post on Reddit! Joined just to get Surface help!
Just bought a Surface Pro 9 without an operating system - the cause of my problem!
I've just started to install Windows 11 and it's wanting 'network drivers'.
I've downloaded the Surface Repair pack and got that on a separate usb. When I point 'search' at the Surface Repair usb, it doesn't find it so guessing it must be in one of the directories on that USB but which one? Been trying to sort this for two days now :)
Help!

I have a SP6 that has no touch working on the RH side of the screen. Tho if I use the pencil the touch is ok but no response with finger.
Have changed the lcd and used a. Purple of other touch board I have laying around and none seem to resolve the issue.
I thought the 5 and 6 touch and screens were interchangeable ? Any ideas what else it could be ?

Hi all
I am desperately after a back shell in the Matt black. Colour ( not platinum ) for both the SP6 and the SP7+
If anyone can help or point me in the correct direction. Be appreciated
r/Surface • u/Grantsmith1982 • 1d ago
Hi all
So with the 7+ you could put your own M.2 2230 NVMe SSD in
My question is who has successfully put in a 2tb or 4tb ssd? What’s the max the sp7+ will support ?
Thanks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My touchpad does not function correctly after the W11 update. I know it is not a hardware issue, as it functions perfectly in my Linux environment.
Tap to click does not function, and clicking requires a very firm hard press. Right click never works. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HID Touch Pad driver several times.
Is there anything I can do short of a full OS reinstall???

So like many it seems , my surface go 2 keyboard randomly stoped working and I have tried everything that I can find online to fix it but it still doesn't work and rarely will get a very brief fliker of the keyboard lights and then nothing.
Wondering if anyone has had experience with the keyboard not working and fixing it by just getting a new keyboard. If anyone has solved this what keyboard did you replace it with that fixed it, one of the cheep ones on Amazon? One of the bluetooth ones, or just the official Microsoft one?
I'm thinking of trying to just replace it but also don't want to go through the trouble of buying something just for it to still not work

Hi, I have a Surface Laptop 5 whose BIOS was broken last year by a buggy Microsoft update, causing the system info to change to OEMID and the serial number to 123123123. Now, when I try to install its driver update MSI package, it shows an error at the start saying this is not a Surface Laptop 5 and cancels the installation. Is there any way to force the installation? Thanks.

I have this Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10. ive been trying to get it to update for like 4 days and it hasnt gotten past a few updates. these 2 in the last pic fail consistently even after restarts. tried doing stuff through the command line and no luck. also tried manually installing the KB file from microsofts site and that didnt work either. has anyone else had this issue? its really annoying.
photos are in order. i press "retry" then it says "initializing" then it fails. those 2 are the parts that have failed, everything else worked.
