I live nearly 1.5 miles from campus. Prior to this year, I could faintly hear the louder bits of the gameday audio through my windows at home. I didn't mind that; in fact, I thought it was kind of fun now that I rarely go to games anymore. The new system is significantly louder. This sucks!

Josh Whitman's DIA has always favored blasting out promotions and song clips rather than letting the Marching Illini take center stage. This is bad enough on its own, but the noise level inside the stadium grew to an uncomfortable level over the past several years. When I took my daughter to her first game last year, I was stunned--literally--when Illinois scored for the first time and a fucking howitzer was fired off right in front of our horseshoe seats. (Bring back the NROTC bell!) A couple weeks ago, I drove by the stadium on Kirby with my windows down while the audio system was going and found it to be crazy loud.

I'm done going to Illini Football. Josh Whitman has one move when it comes to the gameday experience: bigger, louder, brighter, more, more, more. No thanks, you money-chasing egomaniac. Illini Hockey forever, and I'll see you all at the non-revs, too.

hey everyone, I was dropped from UIUC this May and I signed up for classes at CC of Chicago, i dont start til the 21st but I been feeling a little left with no hope, i understand what went wrong and acknowledge it, but Im still struggling with the hope of is It even possible or that common to be let back into the university? i plan to go in as an LAS major, has anyone else faced something similar? I’m 30 year old white dude in who moved here while my wife goes to grad school. I am a big fan of authentic Chinese and Korean food but have had limited opportunities to really explore these cuisines with my own friends that are less willing to try new things.

I’ve been a few places on my own like northern cuisine, but I’m always limited to trying like one thing when I want to share a bunch of dishes.

So here’s the deal, I want to eat with you and your friends, definitely happy to contribute a round or to of drinks as well. In terms of cultural exchange, I have a big back yard with a grill and a pizza oven. We can do a classic American cook out or more authentic Italian pizza than any restaurant in CU has to offer.

I wonder if our unnecessarily large new sportsball display will be visible from the Middle Fork River Forest Preserve, an official International Dark Sky Park. It's about 30 miles northeast of here, and I believe that the display faces north.

My friend and I went to football games here for years and enjoyed them. But we always commented on how poorly they used the display. Particularly for replays, which were rarely shown even after key plays. Hopefully the stupidly-large display gets put to better use than showing ads all game.

I'm planning to return to UIUC for the 2027–2028 school year and I'm trying to figure out when I should start looking/signing.

For people who live off campus in Champaign-Urbana, when would you say is the latest you should sign if you still want a decent selection and reasonable prices?

Would signing around November, December, January, February, etc. be considered too late?

I’m really sick right now, and my professor literally takes away points for every class that we miss. My professor told me that I need to get a doctor’s note as well if I’m going to be absent.
I honestly don’t think I’m well enough to go to an appointment right now. Does anyone know if I can get some kind of documentation through McKinley’s Dial-A-Nurse service? Or do I actually need to make an appointment at McKinley to get a doctor’s note?

Hey everyone, looking for realistic thoughts on my chances transferring into LAS Economics for Spring semester.

Stats & Background:

• In-state community college transfer
• Projected cumulative transfer GPA: 2.92 – 3.0 (rough freshman year, but on an upward trend since)
• Will have 65 transferable credits completed upon enrollment (Junior standing)
• Age: 22

Extracurriculars & Work Experience:

• Played professional soccer overseas in a Scandinavian country
• Currently working as a Finance Manager at a BMW dealership

I know the published LAS Economics minimum is a 2.7, but I know how competitive admissions can get. Does an upward trend, non-traditional work experience, and junior standing give me a solid shot at a 2.9–3.0, or is that GPA too risky for Econ?

Would appreciate any insight from current students or past LAS transfers!
