Over the last few weeks I embarked on the quest to paint up a Thousand Sons army. My friends and I have started an escalation league and I wanted the challenge that the Sons of Magnus offer. My plan was to paint up what I wanted for my 500 point starting army. It was a good plan except that I kept changing my mind. Started putting it all together at the beginning of July, and I needed to take stock to see how much more i need to paint. Of the models I had assembled, I have 7 left. 63 done. I have whoopsied my way into about 1500 point done in about 6 weeks. It's not a good army by any metric, but it's mine.

All this to say if you too are embarking on this quest, there will be times you want to stop because if you "have to paint that gold trim one more time," or you start to feel like the little details are too much, just keep going. Give yourself small achievable goals, a unit here a character there and before you know it you'll turn around and have an army. That feeling of competition is great.

I recently got the motivation to paint some warhammer, and went back to my TS

I present to you Albireo , master of a small lost group who call themselves the Sons of the Thousand Stars

(Yes i named him after my favorite stars hehe)

What do you think about him ? Any advices on how i can improve him ?(i am not an experienced painter at all)

However do you guys think the turquoise colour works? Does it need to be blended in a bit in other places? Does it just need to go and be replaced with something else?

Thinking about doing Chaos Knights in the TSons color scheme but I really like this version from the store with a bright gold and a blue with purple undercoat.

I'm using Warhammer colors so if you've got any recommendations it would be much appreciated.

Okay hear me out.

I'm an AoS Disciples player but I keep side eyeing Thousand Sons.

However something is holding me back, Thousand Sons has like 4 kits that are actually men/dust in tin cans, the rest are Magnus, an old world model, robots.....and demons you can soup in one detachment.

They are also the only SM faction still stuck in the old scale (even though they released so very close to the Primaris update that they were clearly being developed at the same time)

It feels like there won't ever get a real deal new Rubric or SOTs unit the current range is "old enough" to be refreshed which could mean any kind of time frame if we're being honest.

How do you guys navigate this when trying to collect this army where your current models feel like they got the sword of damocles over their heads but also can't seem to get any of what people really like about the faction until it drops.

Edit: lore justification are universally weak explanations for size discrepancies. Especially when GW uses them lol

I'd love to get some advice on how to get the most out of a Thousand Sons list featuring three 10-man Scarab Occult Terminator blocks (plus leaders), along with Rubrics and Characters to cover control and scoring.

The list also runs 2x2 Automata / Robots and a Forgefiend (similar to the list in the video linked below

I'm probably just not playing them right, but every time I field my Terminators I run into two major issues:

1. My opponent seems to wipe them out way too easily before they can make a real impact.
2. With OC 1, I really struggle to see how they can effectively secure and hold objectives for Take and Hold style scoring.

Could anyone give me some tips on:

• Deployment: How to set them up properly so they stay safe without losing board presence?
• Turn 1 (if going first): How to move up and expand without overexposing them?
• Turn 1 (if going second): How to position defensively to absorb the incoming pressure/firepower?
• Mid-game & Deep Strike: Does it make sense to keep one or two blocks in Deep Strike, or keep them all on the board?

I got already 15 of GW scarabs occult terminators and I'm thinking of spicy things up with an HH kit. I got my eye on the Legion Tartaros Terminator Squad because they're 10 man and they don't look bad at all!

My questions are if someone here has use them for kitbashing or other HH kits that you think will work better.

Ok hear me out, this is really a hot take. Grand Coven has been cracked many times and people know how to play against it. Warpforged output is insane especially with defiler +1 to wound psychic. Sometimes I might hit that fit Forgefiend.

Combined with Sekhetar Cohort or RoR makes a perfect combination. Just played a game with WFC+RoR in take & hold and it was absolutely amazing. Output from our infantry units is solid even without any detachment buffs. RoR makes us harder to kill and strats from both detachments work perfectly.

Just my 2cents or even three. What's your opinion?

Last edition we lost Blue Scribes and The Changeling (After I spent the first half of the edition trying to and eventually acquiring one).

I have just under 6k points in Thousand Sons models, and the only one I could see losing right now is the Predator Annihilator (because of the recent Space Marines announcement). However, I decided to focus on the demon half of the army, and recently assembled and painted a Kairos Fateweaver. I am saving up for 2 Lord of Change models, and after that want to get some screamers and flamers, but don't want to put the effort in if we lose them.

So I'm trying to figure out the likelihood of that happening. Regardless, I have some cool looking models, but I'd like to be able to use them.

Committed and did a quick kit bash for my ghost Tsons and am pretty happy with the results.
