Why do “gifted children” often end up as being average or unimpressive as adults?
Not trying to be rude, just an observation I’ve noticed occasionally in my personal life. Obviously this isn’t true of every gifted child when they become adults…

If someone launched a nuclear missile from a submarine, how would anyone know which country is responsible?
Is there any way to definitively prove the source of a detonated nuclear weapon?

My boyfriend keeps saying “In the name of the Primarch, open the gate!” whenever I take too long in the bathroom. What is he referencing?
He keeps laughing, and all I can find online are some video games.

How long can the cost of things keep going up without wages increasing with it
Realistically? I feel like since 2021 I’ve been saying “can’t be like this forever!” But here I am 5 years later struggling horrendously. The same job I had 10 years ago, was very comfortable financially, isn’t cutting it anymore. How long can the cost of groceries and living keep increasing without wages increasing also? I keep hearing “supply and demand just stop buying it”, but there’s certain things we quite literally can’t just not buy (rent, food ((local farmers market and co-op are two times more expensive)), gas, etc.)

Why do some guys seem to really like when their gf swallows?
I’m 23F and have a bf, and this is something I’ve noticed and I’ve always wondered why. Is it mainly the physical aspect, or is there more of a psychological component to it like feeling desired, intimacy, or something different? I’m genuinely curious what guys think makes it so appealing.

What did Marie Antoinette even do?
I feel like I’m always seeing shit about how she was some really bad figure in history but every time I google her, it seems like she didn’t do anything except be forcefully married into a royal family. Like was she actually horrible or is it maybe a misogyny thing? And she didn’t actually say “let them eat cake?” Where did that come from?

Should parents get to decide what period products their children are allowed to use?
Asking because I was recently told that it was a parent's choice, not the teenager going through their period, and I just can't believe that's the general consensus.
It's their body, they get to decide what they are comfortable using IMO.
Edit just to clarify: it was a teenage girl. She had bought it herself tampons and her mother told her she wasn't allowed to use them.

Is there an unspoken rule about situational awareness that people simply just aren't taught anymore?
As someone relatively new to adult life, I notice a lot of people doing things like stopping dead in the center of busy doorways, playing loud videos on speaker in waiting rooms, or crowding onto elevators before anyone exits.
Did something shift in how basic social etiquette is taught, or has public awareness always been this hit-or-miss and it’s just more noticeable now?

Did teenagers used to have so much acne?
It seems like whenever I see old photos of teenagers, I hardly ever see acne on them, but it’s extremely common for teenagers now to have acne. Was it less common or just less photographed?

How does the average New Yorker survive in New York?
I've travelled to New York a few times, but I do not understand how the average person, making median salary can survive in New York.
I love New York, but I have always found it extremely expensive. Recently I googled the median income of New York. $81,228 for median household income.
How can a family possibly survive on $81,228 in New York? How can you have any savings? Everything is so exorbitant here. But somehow everyone on the streets look like they've got nice clothes and they've got their shit together.
Does everyone have parents' money or something?
Edit: Thanks all for the replies. I'm reading all and appreciate all the perspectives.

Why do African Americans try to claim Morocco and Egypt so much ?
As a Moroccan living in Morocco this facet of american groups and ideologies like NOI confuses me the most.
The triangular trade was mostly between west africa and the americas, so why try to claim Morocco and Egypt as Black ?
Genetic studies have proven that modern day egyptians and moroccans are the closest genetic matches to their respective ancient population, and yet a lot of Black Americans try to act like Amazigh, Coptic and Culturally Arabized North Africans are "not indigenous" to their lands and that they were somehow black before a few centuries ago.
Why this obsession with the "We were the true North Africans" narrative

Do you actually visualize what you read in books?
I sometimes struggle with detailed descriptions. I understand what the author is describing, but I don’t actually picture it clearly in my mind. I’ve always wondered: when other people read, do they literally visualize the characters and places, or is it more abstract for you too?

How do I start talking to girls in my class without coming off as weird or awkward?
I (M20) have this college class once a week. It is mostly girls and there’s a few that I think are attractive. I just really suck at talking to people and starting convos so I’m not sure how to do it without coming off as weird. It’s a lab class so I think we’re gonna be working in groups most of the time. I will probably be the only guy in whatever group I get. I know this is a dumb question but I’m just asking cause I’m very awkward and I suck at starting convos with someone I don’t even know.

Do people throw away their stained underwear?
Specifically period stained, not poop stained. I get period stains in my underwear and try and bleach them and remove the stains, but alas they never come out all the way. Is this like the norm or are most people perfect.
