DAE living in the US find that a large portion of their groceries have gone bad or taste off, even if its well before any sell-by date?

Today I bought a pre-made salad (organic, not Taylor Farms), and some peanut butter pretzels. When I got home it was obvious that the salad had already gone bad. I ate some of the peanut butter pretzels and some of them taste off. Both are well before the sell-by date (Saturday for the salad).

Last week I bought some candied walnuts and they were stale, to name another recent example. Am I just having bad luck lately or is this just the norm now?

DAE do this with their candy?? My girlfriend thinks I’m disgusting.

I need help settling an argument between my girlfriend and I.

I love candy, and I may have a problem lol. (Not the point) However I feel as though I have a lot of experience and that this really isn’t that weird to do. However my girlfriend thinks it’s nasty.

Since I was a kid I would suck on candy, not just lollipop’s or jaw breakers. Everything, whether it was gummy bears/worms, skittles, chocolate, sweet tarts, lemon heads. Etc. (with chocolates, Lindor’s are my fav especially because they have two layers 😋) However, I will draw the line at Reese’s, or chocolate bars like milky ways or snickers, ya know.

In my opinion it 1. Makes the flavor last longer, so the enjoyable experience of eating candy is longer. And 2. You really get to enjoy the flavor profiles of the candy, especially when you combine flavors such as skittles or sour patch kids ect.

Now I’m no scientist, and obviously talking about it in detail is kinda gross, but I can’t be crazy right? This is a normal thing people do??
I usually leave it in my mouth for less than 2 minutes at a time or if I’m impatient I will just chew through everything, but that’s part of the fun is mixing the techniques up!

My girlfriend thinks it’s nasty and that gummies especially get all slimy and gross, and candy should strictly be chewed or sucked on for 10 to 15 seconds and should never get soft. And she is a candy connoisseur as well. With her favorites matching close to mine.

One of my biggest eating pet peeves and what grosses me out is when people take a regular hot Talki (the chip) and lick all the Talki dust off like a lollipop and eat the wet ass corn roll afterwards. I think that is nasty as hell but my girlfriend says my habit with candy is much worse.

Am I crazy?? Or is she in the right here??

DAE have a second "you" in your head, with their own opinions, thoughts, memories, etc?

Hey all. I am considering talking to my psychiatrist about this, but don't want to bring it up if it is completely normal, lol.

For quite a while (as long as i can remember), I have had a second "me" in my head. She is always there, like a second layer of thought. But she will sometimes disagree with me.

She is more impulsive and more anxious than I am, and often insists that a situation is dangerous, frustrating, etc., even when I disagree. I have OCD, and it feels as though a lot of my intrusive thoughts come from her, as well. I often struggle to verbalize how she feels and she seems to get irritated at me. I find myself comforting her when she is upset or scared. We also argue a lot about our opinions, beliefs, and she will sometimes remind me of things that I had forgotten.

I had always assumed this was just kinda normal? I researched split brain patients years ago, and it reminds me of that. She is my empathy, emotions, creativity. I am the logic, reasoning, and language. I figured I was just a bit more aware at the dichotomy than most, or just personifying my own subconscious? Idk.

But I have been thinking more about it and I am starting to wonder. Does anyone else do this? She is me, but is also pretty clearly distinct in personality and opinion. I am super prone to overthinking stuff.

DAE feel like people on Reddit will downvote standard scientific facts just to disagree?

Earlier today, I was having a normal conversation about a pizza cooked near an active volcano. Someone mentioned that eating sulfur in food in small amounts is fine, and I agreed.
However, I pointed out that inhaling high concentrations of volcanic gases/ particles over prolonged exposure can be harmful to respiratory health—a pretty standard scientific fact.
Out of nowhere, another user replied:
"No, it's not, you are just dumb." Instead of taking the rage bait, I responded calmly with factual scientific context. Yet, I ended up getting downvoted into oblivion while the insult received traction.
Why do so many people on social media jump into threads purely to disagree, hurl insults, and downvote baseline facts without offering a single counter-argument? Is civil discussion dead on this platform?

DAE feel shame over the most inconsequential shit?

Upvotes

I used to not listen to albums "correctly." I'd never listen in full, and if I did it would be out of order. Learning that some people find that insane made me feel bad about myself

DAE have really contrasting/conflicting traits?

E.g. I'm a straight adult male who swears like Jeremy Clarkson, loves cars, guns, and eating/drinking like a hog. My idea of giving advice is saying 'Suck it up'

Yet I love dolls, mermaids, the colour pink, and picking up my cat and talking to her in a baby voice, and I'm very cuddly and romantic.

DAE love taking walks outside

I just love spending at least one hour walking outside no matter what season it is and what the weather is like. I feel like it’s something I must do everyday. I tried to achieve at least 15k steps each day and if I don’t I would feel extremely disappointed in my myself. It’s like part of my routine.

I just find it relaxing and it just helps me clear my mind and forget my worries. It just allows me to think about things. It definitely did improve my mental health and I have been walking outside for almost 3 years now. Like I enjoy walking so much that I even would even walk to my local corner shop. Like it’s so fun to explore where I live.

Does anybody else practice entire conversations in their head before actually having them, then completely forget the script the moment the real conversation starts?

I'll rehearse exactly what I'm going to say word for word, feel fully prepared, and then blank the second the actual moment arrives and just wing it anyway.

DAE genuinely prefer adulthood because they didn't like their childhood?

Of course, adulthood has way more responsibilities. I mean besides that. The freedom and let's say your family was abusive, and now you possibly have the opportunity to leave or estrange yourself either mentally, emotionally, or cold turkey all together.

Besides the responsibilities, i prefer adulthood 100%. I didn't like my childhood and I always wished i was older. I was always told i'd regret wishing i was older but i still don't regret it. My mom was very abusive and being an adult gives me the ability to estrange myself from her.

DAE not touch door handles outside their home?

I literally will not touch door handles besides the ones in my home unless I have to. I either use my sleeve or knuckles to open doors. I also won't touch buttons with my fingertips, always a knuckle or sleeve. I wouldnt say im a germophobe but people are gross. Also, I always wash my hands before eating no matter what. If im forced to touch a door handle it feels like my hands are dirty and I need to wash them before touching my phone/food/etc.

Does Anybody Else using a 360 cam for dates with your partner?

Upvotes

My boyfriend is usually the one filming me, so I realized I barely have any videos of him or us together lol.

Thinking about getting an Osmo 360 so we can just hold it while walking and both stay in the shot instead of taking turns being the camera person.

Anyone actually doing this? Does it work well or does it get annoying carrying a 360 around on dates?

DAE sometimes stumble upon a profile online of someone you used to talk and knew?

Anyone here ever ran into a redditor that you used to chat with many years ago?

I don’t know if I am correct 100%, but I used to chat with this person on Reddit back in 2020, and she disappeared or I disappeared, and that’s that.

She was an extremely fun person to chat with, it was honestly one of the most memorable connection and time of my life. It’s something I probably will never forget, that’s how fun it was to me. Some people regard me as their light or inspiration, someone to watch, and personally this individual was my light, she had a light that shined brighter than mine in my honest opinion.

So fast forward to the present moment, today 2026, I came across a profile that uses the same name, it was created 1 year ago, the old one from 2020 was long deleted or banned. I looked at the comments and posts and it resembles this person, same interests, same everything. Could it be???

Seeing something like this is actually so crazy to me, it makes it seems like the Earth is extremely small, how we can easily see people like this again, I thought she was gone and lost forever.

Hii was curious if anyone else also had this same problem of journalling then feeling WORSE after? It’s like concentrating all the problems of the day into one entry

If anyone has a better option that worked out for them I would be happy to try 💕

DAE get a gooey feeling on the sides of the inside of their mouth when they see an AI generated human or animal?

When I see the ripples or smoothness in an AI generated face or, say, beluga whale, I also feel this gummy squishy physical sensation near the sides of the back of my tongue. I've started associated the feeling with "AI". Is that just me?

DAE doesn’t like mixing their music playlists together?

I feel like I’m weird for having a playlist for specific artists. Like each individual artist gets their own playlist whilst everyone else just has one big playlist with all their favourite songs

DAE get these very specific feelings that are too abstract to describe well?

For example, this one I don't really get anymore, but when I was a kid I would be reading a book and see a specific word that would trigger this weird feeling. it's like I'm being emotionally transported to a memory that I never had. I would get it with words/phrases like "appalachian mountains". I would feel a mental breeze (yes that's how it felt lol), and before I know it, I am running across a one of those old wooden porches.

I would also get it with pictures as well. The best way I can describe the feeling, is like when raven from TSR gets her visions, we hear the wooshing sound- I feel that "wooshing" when I am transported into these random visuals. Another word that would always trigger this was "overpass" no idea why lol.

DAE genuinely love hospitals?

I love hospitals. No like I genuinely and truthfully love hospitals.

For context, my mom was ill throughout most of my childhood, so hospitals were always a pretty normal part of my life. Tbh I thought, at some point because of that, id either be scared of hospitals or at least have some sort of weird association with them, but that was never really the case.

Hospital visits were actually so much fun to me. I’d talk to the nurses, walk around (i used to beg my dad to take me to other floors just because), sit somewhere or just look around the room, watch people come in and out, whatever it was i was always weirdly fascinated by everything happening around me.

When i was 12, my mom was admitted to the second level of the ICU. Obviously i knew she was really sick and i felt awful seeing her like that, but i never found the environment itself scary. There were two other patients in the room who were in pretty serious condition and mostly unconscious, with curtains and those clear partitions separating everyone. And truly, i was never disturbed by any of it, i was just interested.

And now I’m in my second year of medical school, which tbh makes a lot of sense in retrospect. I’m also sure my autism has some hands in all of this lol.

DAE like Title Fight and ASAP Rocky?

Im asking this because there are a lot of artists where I only like maybe 3-5 of their songs or one album at most. But when it comes to These 2 specific bands, I literally like almost all of their songs.

I have every single song from Asap Rocky’s trilogy album in my playlist (I don’t have a lot from DBD and Testing cause I don’t like them as much) and I have literally every song from title fight including their singles.

Even though they both are in COMPLETELY different genres, (Cloud Rap and Post Hardcore) there has to be some similarity between them that makes me like both of them so much but idk. I wanted to know if anyone else agrees.

DAE have Hasidic friends?

Ex ultra orthodox Jewish here, I was a BT, meaning I went into the religion, but was less observant before. Even before then I always had friends who were Hasidic Jews. I’m a person of color who does speak Yiddish but not really with my Hasidic friends. I just have a large network of Hasidic friends.

Is this normal for people?

Some say that Hasidim just give dirty looks. Which isn’t my experience at all.

DAE feel proud about something and then shame about said pride.

As in, sometimes I compliment myself on doing what could be generally called a "good deed", and then feel like I'm bragging about it to myself which makes the act more insincere.. not a good feeling to have at all.
