If there is one area of ROG gaming hardware that is becoming more and more unpredictable it would be ROG peripherals. 65K sensor mice were probably not on anyone’s bingo cards, or at least not mine. If you haven’t upgraded your mouse yet this year (month? week?), we have a couple new products that might interest the group.

This is probably one of my longer posts here, so feel free to jump to the TL;DR's and availability information at the end. 

ROG Gladius IV Ace Gaming Mouse 

For recent ROG fans, you may not know that the ROG Gladius was our first gaming mouse designed for FPS gamers. The Gladius was a wired mouse, which featured a top-tier 6400dpi optical sensor, 200ips, 50g acceleration, and <1.5mm LOD. Quality Omron switches were used with a 20-million click lifespan, and it was later updated to having a 2K polling rate. This is a upscaled version of the original Huan which is a viper mini clone

When looking at this shape the sides feel more inward than flat though this has been comfortable to place my fingers on. My hand dimensions are 21x11cm for my hand size I would not recommend palm gripping this as it is too small I do wish it was slightly bigger to the size of beast x Max but I guess that's more of a personal thing I do a relaxed claw grip which was good enough though I think those who finger tip should have 0 issue with this.

Build quality:

This is probably the best build quality I have tried to date being made out of magnesium it has 0 flex or creaking when pressing unnecessarily hard this thing is like a tank.

Clicks:

I believe these are the best optical clicks I have tried to date I would even but these over the viper v4 pro these are unbelievably easy to click and spam the pre and post travel is tuned so amazingly and its so minimal that I would say these can even compare to the Hits in logitechs superstrike this is coming from someone whos tried both.

Sensor:

To my knowledge this is their first mouse to use their PAW 3955HS and it is very well implemented I was using 4k polling and 3200dpi and had 0 issues with tracking or flicks it feels very responsive and smooth.

Software:

WLMOUSE uses a web based software I had no issues navigating around on how to use it and what everything meant it is well explained the only issue I had was when updating the dongle as it froze the mouse before letting me select the dongle so I had to also plug a type c in to select the device while it was connected to the dongle but other than that with the software it is very intuitive and nobody should have any difficulty getting around with it.

Skates:

The mouse comes with 4 pre-installed PTFE dot skates, another set of dot skates, 1 set of corner skate, and 1 set of full-sized skates however since I was one of the first 300 to order this I did get sent a free pack of 40 UHMWPE dot skates which was pretty nice however since I am on a glasspad I didn't use the already equipped ptfe skates as they would get shredded therefore I switched to my u9 air skates which performed great on this mouse.

Weight:

WLMOUSE claims 50g ± 2g which I can say is very accurate mine came in around 50.5 with my dot skates The weight balancing on this mouse feels really good and well distributed when holding it from the centre the mouse does not feel front or back heavy and feels very well cantered and distributed.

Conclusion: Overall this is a mouse I can recommend if the price isnt to steep for you and you are a big fan of the design or you wanted a slightly bigger huan/viper mini my only con is that the price is fairly expensive however you are getting an amazing design with a premium magnesium body with a great coating finger prints dont really show on this in comparison to black plastic mice too which is a plus going back to the clicks I can say without a doubt these are the best optical clicks to date that I have tried I would have no issues using this. Been playing with wireless mice for a while now and since, I can't go back playing with cable again.

Since viscose announced the OP1 Raw Input edition, I've been hyped and pre ordered it.

Now realizing that the wire might impact, what can I do so I don't feel it as much? Buy a bungee?

This is my first mouse with a haptic/HITS/magnetic switch system. I didn’t buy Superstrike because I don't buy expensive flagships anymore (around 180 euros at the start); I’d rather wait for a Chinese, cheaper clone.

This is one of the first ones; there will be many more - RAWM, Chilkey, Wallhack, Keychron, Aula, G-Wolves -  these are the ones I’m aware of.

This is still a pre-release unit; the final version, scheduled for late September, should have all issues fixed. I will also tell you about them briefly.

The main reason I checked this is their MIMS tech (MIMS - magnetic micro-switch technology). It appears to be a copy of the HITS tech introduced by Logitech some time ago. I have tried the Superstrike at my friend’s place, so I pretty much know what it feels like.

This is very similar, yet a bit different.

So, if someone doesn't know yet - the idea is pretty much the same as in a magnetic keyboard - you set the actuation point and rapid trigger, and in theory you get a faster click.

So, this MIMS system removes the fixed dead-travel limitation of traditional mechanical switches. The actuation point is adjustable across 12 levels, from ultra-light press to traditional long travel, adapting to different games and usage habits, eliminating trigger delay for more responsive, consistent clicks. 

The Rapid Trigger here delivers the same fast reset capability as magnetic keyboards. The button resets with a slight finger release, greatly reducing return dead travel and boosting fast-click efficiency; it can be disabled for office use to prevent accidental clicks.

There’s also this haptic response - the built-in linear motor simulates the crisp feel of mechanical switches. It has 5 intensity levels, from soft to strong tactility; it can operate fully silently and allows fully customizable click feedback. 

How do I like it? Well, I like it a lot, especially the haptic feedback it gives back to me. I set the haptic touch to 3, and it was still easy to feel; however, level 5 feels much stronger, but it doesn't interfere with my gaming at all. On the other hand, the lowest haptic response feels as if nothing happened when you click it, and I was not sure if I clicked it actually or not. Which is not good, so I prefer to have it on.

When it comes to the actuation: it came set at level 6 (out of 12 levels), which was like a normal travel distance of a mechanical switch. I set it to 1, and I thought I could actuate it with even a blow of my breath. Nothing like this ever happened - so what I want to say is that even at the lowest actuation point, you still need to use some slight force to actuate the switch. Which is a bit different to HITS in Logitech, which was very sensitive to even the slightest force. From what I saw, the same applies to the new RAWM Leviathan GT - and it’s frustrating imho.

So, this MIMS tech is less subject to accidental clicks, which is good.

The rapid trigger is heavily dependent on a game you play - some games have an inbuilt mechanism where you just can't spam the fire button, but some don't. In BF, I could spam the handgun and DMR a bit faster, which felt good. I really thought it gave me some advantage, but maybe it was just placebo. Need more time with it, definitely.

The mouse with this MIMS system weighs 61 grams on my scale, and the weight balance is a bit towards the front, and you can feel it. I thought there was a DPI deviation at first, but I think this impression comes from the weight balance. I still wish the mouse was lighter - ideally in its 40s and I don't think we will see a big change in the final version.

This plastic shell is very sticky once your hand warms up, but I think it will look very different in the final version.

The battery life seems ok - after 2 days at 2k, competitive mode on, the indicator showed around 50%. This unit has a 300 mAh battery.

Dimensions are 125*65*40mm. It’s a classic potato shape, but without those atrocious, aggressive side ridges of the OG Superlight, which is good. The sensor is the trusted 3955 Pixart; MCU: Nordic nRF54

It felt good and comfortable; only the weight should be lower, but I guess this MIMS system is the culprit here.

The skates are so much better than OG: rounded, thicker, they glide well and are balanced. They performed well on glass, even on steel. Their placement is also good.

This is the web software

It works ok but has some bugs but it already looks like a 90% finished product, just like the mouse.

I also did a spam-click test - I improved from 8 clicks per second to 9; so practically, I was able to click a bit faster.

Do I think it’s worth waiting? Sure, if you’ve never tried it and don't want to pay this premium brand tax from your wallet.

Honestly, I think these mice will take over, just like the magnetic keyboards did. These clicks are an upgrade, imho and the industry will follow suit. So, I guess Logitech needs some credit here for actually introducing it.

I don't know how much it’s gonna cost, preferably around 100 USD?

Hey, i bought a VXE Mad R Major a couple months ago mostly for cs2 and deadlock. I love the mouse, no sensor issues for me, texture, perfect shape for my grip style and hand size (relaxed claw, 19cm/10cm) except the battery life which i noticed was pretty weak on 2k polling rate.

Then i found out about game profiles in the software which massively improved my quality of life with the mouse. I only charge it every 8 or so days when the led on it starts blinking red.

Im making this post because the documentation on how to set it up was pretty confusing and there wasnt a lot of info about it online. You can basically create a profile for desktop and gaming which switches automatically based on if the game window is focused, if it's open in the background but you're not playing it will keep the desktop profile which is better for battery life.

1. Create the desktop config in Config File 1

I like 250hz polling rate because i legit cant feel the difference between it and 2000hz polling rate on my desktop, and i set sensor sampling rate on basic mode.

The rest of the config is based on what you like and doesnt impact battery life

2. Create the competitive gaming config in Config File 2

For this profile i use 4000hz polling rate and ATK Shard Competitive firmware for sensor sampling rate

Dont forget to also change the other settings that matter for you

3. Adding the competitive profile to the games you want

Click on the underlined part of the image, it will open the link game tab.

Find the path for the .exe for the games you want, you can either search it or it will appear on the right when you launch your game. I play other games also but they don't really require more than 250hz polling rate so i dont add them (Minecraft, factorio, terraria etc...). But if i felt like 250hz isnt smooth enough i would probably create a third profile with 500hz or something like that so it doesnt drain as much battery as when i play competitive games.

Then change the config file on the games you added, check if the underlined part is set to "on" like on my picture, if you want to test if it works you can enable the notifications launch a game, if you get the pop up than you're good.

4. Don't forget to allow the software to launch when you turn on your computer so that you don't have to start it manually everytime

Also, when you mess with the profiles don't forget to turn Auto Configuration switch back on again everytime you're done because it turns it off

First of all, I’m not a professional reviewer by any means. I’m making this post mostly because I found very little information about this mouse outside people unboxing or reviewing it for a sponsor video or just a out of the box review (not a in-depth)

Also worth mentioning that I’m very picky and annoyed by little noises or change in feels (tism council?) meaning that what I felt using this mouse isn’t what most people will experience (plus it could also be that my unit is defective but I didn’t want to RMA it since I bought it from AliExpress)

That out of the way here are my thoughts:

Mouse construction is solid, no creaking on the shell and it feels great in my hand (20x9,5cm and I use a relaxed claw grip). Coating is also great, I have a somewhat sweaty hand and I didn’t feel the need to put grip tape (the ones included with the mouse are terrible).

I took the stock feet out in the first 3 days because I didn’t like it whatsoever (you can apply any kind of feet in this mouse, there’s plenty of room, even donut skates so knock yourself out on the skates). I also swapped the 800mah battery that comes with the mouse because I felt it was too heavy. I put a 250mah and now my unit weights 48g (from 57g).

Things I won’t cover in too much detail:
Side buttons are good (I don’t have a reference to call them great, so I’ll just say they are good, but I really like it).
Scroll wheel has very well defined steps, I like it.
Quick dpi change buttons on top (I never used it).
It has web software and the installer one, but you will only mess with it once and never open it again.
I like the ergo shape and size.

Problems I had and solutions I found:

At first it was all fine and dandy but after a day or so of usage I noticed that something was off in the sense that I felt the cursor a bit stuttery, so I changed the polling rato to 2k, initial protocol and hyper core profile and the stutters were gone. (Picture on the post with my settings)

After a month I felt a noticeable pre travel on both clicks, which I fixed just by warping the click buttons (video I used as guide).

Then after almost 3 months I started to feel a creaking (not audible, just a feel of plastic rubbing against plastic) on the left click, which made me crazy. I found out it was because of an uneven click with the left mouse button since it is an ergo shape, but nothing I did helped fixing it, until it found THIS and THIS threads. In my mouse I put a single dot skate in the middle, and it acts as a support for the tip of both clicks and it fixed my problem. I also put a piece of tape on top of both switches to help fix post travel. (VIDEOS of before and after the changes and THIS post for the switch tape)

Along the last problem I also fixed the side play on both buttons (left button had a bigger side play) with tape on the housing of the buttons (I don’t have any photos of that because I was already annoyed by the fixes I had to make but it looks something like THIS).

Conclusions:

Like stated before, I’m not a professional reviewer, just a user that wants to share information. That is why I don’t have a good archive of the changes I made but I’ll gladly help anyone who has questions.

After all those changes the mouse feels great to my taste and I’m quite happy with the results, although I wish I didn’t have to do all that work.

And almost 3 months using the mouse (around the time the creaking started) I contacted the store I bought it from on AliExpress, they tried to help me as best as they could and ended up refunding me half of the mouse’s price (it’d be to much of a hassle for them to RMA it I believe).

Feel free to ask as much as you want. As I said before that isn’t a popular mouse so I just wanted to share as much information as possible for people who want to buy this mouse.

My concerns are, I remember hearing back in the day how wireless mice were bad for gaming but I see nowadays that mice can use wifi and that Bluetooth is good enough nowadays?

I want a heavier mouse but not too massive if that makes sense. My hands get shaky(long story) so would like it to be stable especially when zooming in on shooter games.

I would like it so my hand isnt dragging. My wrist drags too though that may be something on my end.

My budget is preferably less then 80 and on Amazon. I'm looking at the red dragon m810 pro as it seems affordable but I don't know brands outside of Logitech and razr

Hi guys, as title suggest I am looking for a mouse smaller than Viper v4 and bigger than old Viper Mini. My hand size is 19x9.5 and I have a relax claw grip. What's your recommendations?

I’m looking to replace my Redragon M913 Max. I really love having the 12-button thumb grid, but I want something lighter and better suited for shooters while still keeping all those side buttons.
I’ve looked pretty heavily at the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless, and on paper it seems almost perfect. My concern is that I’ve seen a lot of reviews/posts about them developing issues or breaking down after only a few months of heavy use.
I’ve also owned a Corsair Scimitar before. I liked the mouse, but the scroll wheel broke after about 8 months, so durability is pretty important to me this time around.

What I’m looking for:
12 or more side buttons

Lighter than the Redragon M913 Max, preferably significantly lighter

Wireless is a HUGE plus, but I’d consider wired if the mouse is really worth it

Good sensor/latency for FPS or shooter games

Durable enough to handle heavy daily use

Budget isn’t really an issue. I’d rather spend more and get the best option than compromise.
I know a 12-button MMO mouse probably won’t ever be as light as a dedicated FPS mouse, but I’m trying to find the best middle ground between the two.

For anyone who has used an Aerox 9 long-term, how has it held up? Are the durability complaints overblown?
Also open to basically any brand. What’s the best 12+ side-button mouse available right now.

How do the thumb grooves on both the NP-01s v3 and NP-01 Ergo feel compared to each other in the hand? I recently had the NP-01s Ergo, and the thumb groove wasn't very deep or satisfying in my hand.

For reference, mice I've used before: Pulsar Xlite CrazyLight mini, Lamzu Thorn (v1)

I'm looking to get an upgrade from my DeathAdder v2 that I've had for quite sometime now.

I've recently bought a x2 mini off of Amazon but it is way too small and I'm planning on returning it for either the X3 Crazylight medium or the Maya x.

If anyone has any input or any other recommendations that would be greatly appreciated.

Is the superlight 2 also something to consider as it is currently 173 aud which is slightly cheaper than the Maya x
