Trying to build a community. All the sessions are for free, you just gotta bring your own gear for the kickboxing sessions 14+ gloves and a pair of shinguards, but for the jiu jitsu sessions, just suitable apparel is good enough

Tourism Looking for translator / fixer (Canto / English) in Macau

Hi Macau Reddit. American author here, published by an imprint of Penguin Random House. Coming to Macau to do some research, particularly in Coloane / the Ka Ho area.

Not a Canto speaker myself, so looking to hire one or more translators / fixers to help me locate interview subjects and interpret the interviews.

I've emailed a few colleagues at the University of Macau, but thought I'd also throw this out on Reddit to cast a broader net.

Pay is competitive. Feel free to DM me with any questions or to chat further.

Can you recommend a gym in the Macao area with good facilities that's affordable, preferably one where I can train for Hyrox?

I tried inquiring at MacaoFitness, but it’s too expensive for me.

Tea equipment (zisha pots / mugs / tea containers)

If anyone has any locations or hotspots or local specialties to buy that can be shared it would be much help!

Questions Moving to Macau next week...any pointers?

I am moving to Macau next week for work. Looking for recommendations and tips.

I get a week at a hotel paid by the company while I find a place to rent. I was looking at Taipa or One Oasis. Is it true you need to pay 3 months of rent in advance? I am already looking at facebook groups and wanted (ideally) a furnished one bedroom/studio in the 7k-10k budget. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Probably will have to rely on walking and public transportation for the time being. I hear it's pretty efficient.

How's the weather like? I read it is humid as fuck and winter is only from December to February.

I was advised to get a dehumidifier as soon as possible once I have a place.

What is the cost of living like?

Update: Thank you all for the replies. I arrived last night and still getting over jetlag and whatnot. I already got a sim card and a bus pass to get around. Got a bank account, but they said it takes a week or 2 to get it approved.

Already talked to some real state agencies and now solely focused on looking for a place to live since I only have a week of housing from the company. I will be working at COD, hence why Taipa or One Oasis were my choices. Looked at an apartment in Taipa earlier today, but didn't really like it. Hoping to get answers from FB groups so I can go see apartments and get one asap

Discussion Old tree chopped down

Hello everyone !
There’s this hidden little garden my dad goes to every week, in 小潭山環山徑 (probably some hiking trail) in taipa. Recently this old, huge tree got chopped down with no apparent reason and my dad is really upset about it. It never disturbed anybody and judging by the size and its roots it’s probably really old (few hundred years). I thought old trees like this were protected under government rule… it’s just a pity historical tree like this could just be discarded. I think we just want answers as to why they would do this (possibly sick tree? Infested with bugs?) 😭😭

My wife and I are trying to choose between these 4 hotels. We have stayed at the Conrad overnight before. For anyone that has stayed at the others, how do Studio City, Londoner Grand, and Parisian compare? Thank you for any insight

Hey everyone! I’m from Ireland and recently visited Macau for 3 days after traveling through Mainland China.

I practically knew nothing about Macau before going there and it surprised me so much. Much better than the real Las Vegas haha! Let me know what you think!
