I interviewed with a company today and everything was pretty normal but then the service manager brought up how they do sales. Apparently they have a salesman that has to be apart of every conversation with the customer involving sales… like a 3 way call. Even the smallest repair they need to be involved and make contact. The interviewer made it clear that this guy was a salesman and not a manager. Reasoning was that they wanted continuity for every call… sounds awful ngl. Ive been in the trade 7 years and cant imagine how this works effectively. Anyone do it this way?

we do labs where we have to read them then wire up a board based on the ladder diagram, theres an example of a diagram my teacher drew above and i couldn’t begin to tell you where the wires would go. if anyone has advice or videos they recommend watching it would be much appreciated as i have a test tuesday that im not really ready for

Guess it could be a 1/4 molecular transformer if I need to write off the copper as business expense? Normally has a small ice cooler set up for the pump, I swear it does make a difference in the attic and for cooling down brownies more importantly.

Edit: sorry forgot to mention r-718 for those trying to help diagnose 1.5 gpm comp pulling .15amp forgot to get the clamp reading in. Keep having issues pulling the circuit down lots of hydration keeps getting in the vac

I’ve never seen one of these on a normal residential system. I wonder if it has to do with that it’s a 3 story condo with 3 zones, condenser on the ground outside and the air handler all the way up in the attic? What’s it doing here? The system next door doesn’t have one.

I recently started doing more refrigeration stuff, and I’ve noticed some kitchen staff leaving doors to walk in coolers wide open while they place product or take it out etc…I was just checking box temps at the a419 in mech room and observing staff leaving doors open for 30 seconds up to 3 mins (one dude was snacking lol).
It’s all fine and dandy until the kitchen manager is screaming at hvac maintenance to fix their coolers because they aren’t working…they are

Is any one else having lots of issues with these new carrier “v” coils, my area is high humidity and it seems like once water fills the airflow holes air can’t get thru the square holes and it’s causing high static and random freeze ups, it’s to the point where we aren’t selling them any more

I have been a Service Tech for 9 months. I was hired as in Service Tech without any prior experience or education I was trained for approximately. 1-2 weeks and then sent off to run service calls alone for a big landlord company that unlimited budget basically if you were doing a boilers and furnaces throwing in parts like Pokémon until it starts working for First 2 months and then actual residential calls where I had to be careful I got my EPA universal in April and learned all about air-conditioning to the point I would I am better at certain stuff then my coworkers who went to school. Yesterday I I was doing 2 big condensing boiler maintenance. After I put the heat exchangers together, I couldn’t figure out that I had to reset the gas pressures and it was giving me troubles. I ended up not finishing the job. Today I was doing 60 ton York VRF system with 12 indoor units/apartments hooked up to it. It was one of the six systems they had there. Took me a whole day to diagnose an EEV felt so stupid while on call with tech-support. I feel like I am a fraud. I don’t know nothing. I just wanna be competent at my job that’s all. These two days were in line, but there have been other so many occasions I’ve been messing up at. I got easily intimidated by systems. Without tech-support I’m absolutely cooked. All I can do is just say sorry, but I don’t even know what to do with myself. I am really disappointed in myself. I just wanna be as competent as other people. I have been learning as much as I can, since I was thrown to wolves in 2nd week. It took me 7 months into field to do a compressor swap by myself but it’s no problem for my coworkers. Basically passed a week whilst my first time rebuilding 2 inch radiation loop pipe around the boiler first time vile it’s second nature to the others. Sorry for my English. it’s not my first language.

TLDR - I feel like I’m a fraud and just got Lucky and got this job

if what happened in Canada a few years back is any indicator. we had what they call "the heat dome" here and residential companies started coming out of the woodwork and everyone made a lot of money. now government grants were a big driving factor, but the fact that people experienced 35 to 40 Celsius in their living room for the first time ever was a big deal. also not a ton of people on the west coast here had air conditioning so maybe it was just the perfect storm but just food for thought.

all these old buildings in the UK that are built to store heat, better believe there's going to be a lot of Mini splits getting installed by someone before next summer.

Im getting out of the navy next year and am really wanting to get into hvac. I am an E5 with sadly no hvac experience. What’s some things I should look into (trade school etc) and what’s it like being in hvac in specifically the Raleigh nc area?

Recently I got a job opportunity with a Commercial Company for HVAC/ Refrigeration. I went for a ride along for 2 days with a Technician and the owners liked my performance overall. The problem is I have no commercial experience, while on the ride along i was confused on quite lot of stuff when it came to refrigeration. They told me i’d be trained for a couple days and be left on my own once the tech says im ready. I’m worried i’d be sent off too early and have bad performance on my own which will leave me without a job. I finished Trade School for HVAC Mid last year and I have done Residential hvac Side jobs here and there but nothing to crazy. is it a risk to jump straight into commercial?
