I have been thinking for a while now about starting to learn Russian. Do you recommend any online lessons, or should I start physical classes? What is your experience? I will try to avoid Duolingo.

I did some album art recently for an album mostly in English, with a couple songs written in Russian. I'm a neophyte, so I can't really discern how good the translation is.

Would it make more sense, be more correct, or less correct, to order the words thus:

I’m a native English speaker who has been learning Russian for a few years now but the other day I met a Russian family and genuinely could not understand them so I’m looking for someone who speaks Russian fluently to play Minecraft or any other game really and communicate in Russian as I think that would greatly help me to learn to actually speak and understand it. I'm looking for something similar to HablaCore's approach.

Not just flashcards or isolated grammar exercises.

Basically, learn the words → see them used in a story → practise building/understanding sentences → learn the grammar from the context.

Is there anything free (app) that works this way for Russian?

Note: not isolated focus on vocabs/cases but Hablacore-like integrated approach.

Could s.o. recommend some already existing discord channels/other virtual groups?

I'm doing a bit of a deep dive on Russian for a paper and would appreciate some insight on this.

So Russian sounds notably different from Ukrainian and Belarusian because the latter two developed from, or were at least heavily influenced, by Ruthenian. In turn, Russian was more influenced by Old church Slavonic. Except vowel reduction is notably more present in Russian, despite being pretty much absent from Old church Slavonic. Why is that?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong somewhere regarding the history of the language or drop some sources if anything comes to mind.

I am the child of a Russian immigrant, and I know how to speak Russian and read it, but when it comes to writing, I have to use text-to-speech. This is normally no problem, but my mum is getting her first first class as a teacher here in Germany, and I wanted to write her a letter in Russian because it carries more emotions for me.

She could never have imagined being able to become a teacher in Germany and teach German and other subjects 20 years ago, but now she speaks German and knows it better than anyone else, and I am really proud of her that she now gets to teach!
Sadly, I don’t know how to write Russian in cursive, so I wanted to ask someone here for help. Could I send you the text I wrote using text-to-speech, and could you send me back a picture of how it should look in cursive? :)

У меня магазин женской одежды на втором этаже Центральной улицы Харбина. Магазин работает уже год, каждый день сюда приходит огромное количество русских туристов за покупками.

Сейчас на витрине только надписи на китайском языке, большинство русских гостей их не понимают. Они догадываются, что здесь магазин одежды только по выставленным вещам на окне, потом случайно поднимаются на второй этаж. Многим очень нравится ассортимент моей одежды, они регулярно делают покупки.

Я хочу сделать лаконичную надпись на русском на окне, чтобы русским посетителям было легче найти мой магазин. Но место на витрине небольшое, поэтому текст должен быть коротким. Мой вариант: «Женская одежда».

Прошу носителей русского языка подсказать мне два момента:

1. Естественна ли эта фраза, часто ли её используют для вывесок магазинов в России?

2. Есть ли более короткие, заметные варианты надписей, подходящие для небольших витринных наклеек?

Мне нужно оставить все уже существующие надписи на витрине без изменений, и дополнительно добавить эту русскую фразу. Не будет ли слишком тесно, не выйдет ли весь текст за пределы свободного места на окне?

I run a women’s clothing store on the second floor of Harbin Central Street. My shop has been open for one year, and a huge number of Russian tourists come to shop every day.

At present, only Chinese characters are posted on my window. Most Russian visitors cannot understand Chinese text. They can only guess that this is a clothing store by seeing the clothes displayed in the window, then search and walk upstairs by chance. Many of them love my clothing styles and make purchases here.

I want to add concise Russian signage on the window to help Russian guests find my shop easily. However, the window space is limited, so the text must be short. My draft phrase is Женская одежда.
I have attached photos of my storefront window. Could you check whether this sentence fits the window layout visually? Also, please tell me:

1. Is this sentence natural and commonly used for storefront signs in Russia?

2. Are there shorter, more eye-catching Russian phrases suitable for narrow window stickers?
