Humor Archeology is the best skill ever made

Upvotes

Archaeology is the best skill ever made. When I feel like I need to sleep, I just do some archaeology; it is absolutely the best medicine for falling asleep in the world. I'm currently going for 120 (only level 109), but I've fallen asleep behind my computer over eight times already training this skill. However, I feel like they absolutely need to nerf the XP per hour. I feel like getting 90k XP per hour at the highest excavation site is too much; it should be 1,000 instead so we can use this skill to fall asleep more often.

Discussion The psychology behind why the current chronote system is bad

i know its easy to say "oh you just dont want to have to spend money on this" or "but there needs to be some sort of chronote sink in the game", but there is a clear cut psychological reason why this system is bad:

it punishes you for changing what activity you are currently working on.

many people like to just do bossing for an hour or two and then switch to some skilling activity. some people can go longer at one activity. some people only want to get their reaper done and then go back to skilling. but chronotes puts an arbitrary cost to task switching that gets worse for people who task switch more often. it literally punishes you for wanting to take a break from one activity and decide to go to something else. many players would literally rather take a break from the game entirely with how costly this punishment is

Suggestion Zamorak was fun. The undercity was not fun.

This was a really fun fight with interesting mechanics, however ive got some pain points I wanted to bring up.

  1. The undercity has nothing redeemable about it at all. Navigating it is a chore, the environment is uninspired, the bosses are obtuse (the jailor teleporting around is outright lazy design.) The entire Zammy encounter would be better if this never existed.

  2. Phase 7 sigils being able to be destroyed twice leads to undue friction. Once one is destroyed, you can easily accidentally destroy it a second time. This isnt a case of "pay attention" and more of a punishment for dps being too high.

That said, I enjoyed it, but it really highlights how much better designed things like Sanctum of Rebirth are by comparison. I hope we see less of this logic in future bosses, and more encounters like Sanctum.

Would love to hear how you guys would fix the undercity.

Suggestion As part of the Deep Clean, please drastically revamp skill guides

Since this was not explicitly mentioned on the Month Ahead, I just wanted to point it out here.
The skill guides are severely outdated and even more severely bloated.

The more egregious examples:

Defence lists 14 separate unlocks at level 1, including Sir Owen's shield, wooden shield, the penance insignia, and four separate Daemonheim sets.

This is... extreme, especially for new players. Most veterans probably don't even know what a penance insignia is, let alone own one. Daemonheim armour really doesn't need more than 1 line per tier unlock, "Tier 1 Daemonheim armour sets" or put the names of the sets on one line. In general, many unlock messages can be condensed, like Achto equipment, attuned crystal, second-age, etc.

Crafting
33 unlocks listed at level 1 (??), including uncondensed listings of multiple armour sets (5 messages for leather armour, 6 for black wizard, 8 for blue wizard). This is insane, and it doesn't get much better later on. Dragonhide, dracolich, cryptbloom and some urn types are all listed separately too. The guide also doesn't mention FSOA or Zuk cape requirements. Very few unlocks list their ingredients either, it seems only the necromancy armour, Cryptbloom and Dracolich. This is not very helpful especially at early levels.

Summoning
Familiars should be divided into more subtypes (skilling, combat). The milestones page is befuddling in what it lists.

Magic
21 unlocks at level 1, it just seems unnecessary to list quest rewards and wizard's mind bomb. Spells for ancients/lunars should probably mention their spellbook directly.

Hunter
Should probably list the actual areas creatures can be caught.

Herblore
Would be nice to have potions subcategorized into base potions, supers, extremes.

Divination
Still lists divine locations.

Farming
Condense honeycombs at level 1.

Dungeoneering
Lists every Chaotic/Ruinous/Gravite weapon individually.

Overall, it would also be helpful for each skill guide to have a brief overview of how to train the skill and its general benefits.

Not a huge fan of how the base set looks, it was REALLY hard to come up with this, way too many materials/details. P.s. click the image, quality improves :)

I've just realised it must be weird for new players to do Sheep Herder (killing sheep because they are weird color) and then Mournings End Part 1 (color sheep using frogs and paint) when the sheeps of color are a normal thing these days.

Question Low level bossing help, flesh hatcher...

Upvotes

Gonna out myself as a noob for this one but, I hit 60 magic and got my Guthix staff and gear and went off to the Fletch Hatcher boss because the guides all suggested it as a early to mid level boss, I did all the mechanics right and dodged everything, prayed mage and used my abilities properly and still used an entire inventory of food barely surviving and it took 3 minutes

Am I missing something really obvious here with this boss? I tried to find any sort of mid level guide but it's all end game players doing the boss in 2 seconds saying how great it is for low level players, seems like just regularly training is much better?

I tried Ivar earlier and that was easy enough, was looking to dive into more bosses but it seems I might be a ways off yet unless there's something super obvious I'm missing

Humor New method for AFK dungeoneering xp

Okay so here’s how it works.

Go to the shadow reef and get past the second boss.

Find the spot with 3 Kal'gerion demons.

These demons are special because they respawn.

This allows you to grind AFK dungeoneering xp.

With leagues multipliers, I was getting upwards of 2 xp per kill. If you grind thus now through the end of leagues you might get a level.

Question What is happening here?

I am only paying 15 coins but why does it say two lines for paying and also why would it ever say 25 coins, it is either 30,15, or free. Realistically, this does not really matter but why would this even happen?

Leagues How do I adjust the area loot to show rare drops first on mobile?

I got a perfect chitin and it was covered on top of tons of shark. KK respawned and killed me as I kept trying to pick up the perfect chitin. Even when I right click to grab it, it wont let me pick it up. Only the area loot full for sharks shows up and it doesn’t show the perfect chitin among them.

Ninja Request What is the point of the 'how many offerings' interface? Get rid. NOW.

When making opening a farming reputation or offering a menaphite gift or using any of those other items, why the shitballs do we get a screen asking how many do we want to use instead of just immediately consuming?

If I type '1' it still uses the entire thing anyway so wtf is the point? ok bye.

Leagues Next leagues give ranch out of time a animal dump also

My bank is overflowing with animals, give us a dump like POF, even if we don't get beans it'd save so much bank clutter.

I know I can sell animals but I'd have to sell daily for like another 3 days to get rid of everything and releasing is just annoying in a time gated game mode, there is literally no down side.

500 Enrage. Pads can't be charged, Green health but takes no damage, no chaos witch. Fight effectively stalls.

I'm sure it's leagues shinanigans but I want those dang points. Does anyone know what I should avoid doing to break it?

Leagues There are now only 3 tasks that have a less than 0.1% completion rate.

Post image

To put that into perspective, the the last RS3 Leagues finished with 24 tasks that had < 0.1% completion rate. It's great to see that we're getting more completable tasks for the average Joe.

Which task do you think will be the last to stay on red?
