Settling a case for a small payout is an admission that you have a weak case.

As Mark Twain said, "It is incredibly difficult to convince someone of something when their entire salary depends on them not understanding it." It may not be the facts of the case or the law, but all sorts of non-legal things that make a case hard to prosecute.

Legally, no. But how many people actually take that axiom to heart? The number of times I've read about someone being tried in court for a crime and heard people talking about it like they're already guilty, basically just because they made it to court...
