Stephen Lambert, executive producer for The Traitors, has said that watching how contestants confidently pick the wrong people on little to no evidence has shaken his faith in the real-world jury system.

I haven't had the opportunity to sit one, but I can totally see what you and others in this thread are describing.

Eh, on that show they're deliberately given little or confusing evidence, and encouraged to make something out of nothing. And like, no offense to the contestants but the majority of them I wouldn't trust to water a plant, let alone actually participate in a jury.

My favourite part of that show is watching people at the Round Table go on about "the evidence" and it's literally always just feels. "Joe didn't say hi to me at breakfast, he's clearly a traitor!" Then Joe survives the vote, and the next day it's "Joe said hi to me at breakfast after not saying hi to me at breakfast!"

It's like the Money Python witch trial, but even stupider

The problem with that show is they took the premise behind "The Mole", but then didn't actually have the person/people designated do anything to actively sabotage the group while trying to get away with it or pin it on someone else. Every player is just trying to get to the end, but they all have the same challenges and goals with no actual betrayal involved.

I’ve had to go through it. There were a disproportionate amount of younger people and it’s 100% true that “vibes” are how it seems most young people make important decisions in life based on those 3 weeks of my life.

There were 2 girls who quickly became besties and basically backed each other up endlessly and one of them literally said “I don’t care what, like, evident there is.. I just like totally get this vibe from him you know?” and she wanted to convict a man based on the “vibe she got from him” so of course her new bestie also wanted to convict because of the “vibe”. It was the most annoying fucking thing in my life I had to deal with.

I learned a lot about the TikTok generation those weeks and none of it gives me hope for the future of society.

Meh. I understand the issue of people developing strong feelings based on nothing but contestants on The Traitors also know they're playing a game show that doesn't really matter. There aren't really high stakes to guessing badly because your decisions are self-contained to a TV show.
