if people were properly compensated for their time and not living in an economic dystopia it wouldnt be worth dodging. You shouldnt be able to be fired from a job for serving on a jury and the gov should at least mirror your income.

losing a job because you get assigned and the case lasts a couple weeks isn't something most Americans can deal with.

It's a great system of justice but it is set up to fail right now.

Agree about the compensation part but you just literally made the first part up. Amazing that people upvote totally wrong comments like this.

yeah because NO company in America would ever find a different reason to fire you if you suddenly couldn't come to work for 6 weeks.

the rules exist, sure, but no one enforces them. Even if they followed the rules, most people can't just not get paid for a couple of days let alone a couple of weeks. The system does not work, especially for the lower socioeconomic classes (as with everything else).

And what exactly is your source that people get fired in roundabout ways for jury duty? Cause it seems like it only exists in your imagination at the moment. Besides most jury duty lasts less than a week, so you're again just pulling six weeks out of your ass

To be fair, I'd prefer a celebrity over a politician who does nothing but talk about culture war bullshit to get on cable news like a Nancy Mace
