Not On My Smashed Avo Another round of every glass bus stop shattered in the inner north

I live in Reservoir, and just as the bus stops got repaired, someone went and smashed them all over again. Huge piles of glass everywhere (at least it’s not sharp). Others have posted about this months back but it’s non stop now, I’ve seen them in Preston, Bundoora, Thornbury, Coburg, Northcote… whoever is doing this, please fuck off? It makes the whole area feel dodgy as hell.

Not On My Smashed Avo A moment of silence for Bakers Delight pizzas

It was the perfect WFH lunch: stroll down to BD to get a Hawaiian pizza, maybe sling it a 180 oven for 10 minutes to crisp up and then yum.

Now they’re using pre-baked bases and just topping them. Basically cheese on toast.

Change is constant but this one hurts.

To the tram driver on #96 (tram 6025) this morning — absolute class.

Flat cap, tie, immaculate vibes, and the little wave to every fellow tram driver you passed. Just had to say: you’re an absolute legend. Made my morning.

Om nom nom How has this not been a staple in my house?

I just bought my first jar of gan lan choy. Or gan lan cai for Mandarin speakers. I feel like this is Chinese Vegemite. It's preserved mustard greens and Chinese olives. It's salty oily umami goodness.

Why do I make the Vegemite comparison?

It's black, salty, umami, very potent, keeps for a long time, fridge or pantry? (I'd say it depends how fast you eat it) . It tastes nothing like Vegemite, I don't think it has a divisive taste.

I've seen a few posts lately asking for cheap and or easy meals. This is it my friends! I think a small jar was $5. Tonight I used 2 teaspoons of it, 2 hard boiled eggs and rice.

Just read you can mix it with kewpie mayo. Or use it on a bao bun.

Mum would buy it from time to time and put it in congee (rice porridge). If we're talking about thrifty meals... What's cheaper than white rice? Watered down white rice!

This should be available at most Asian groceries.

Roads Eastern Freeway - Roadwork Speed

Does anyone have any insight into the seemingly ambiguous roadwork speed limits along the eastern freeway (outbound).

I often drive down the freeway at night and the speed limit seems to change from 80, to 40 for a while with no obvious works, back to 80, then to 60.

Even goes as far as to close 2 lanes with seemingly no works conducted, then to open up again 500m later…

Happy to be corrected if there is a good reason behind this but it becomes more dangerous to do the speed limit as majority of other cars fly past at 80+ km/h disregarding the limit.

Not On My Smashed Avo Got swooped so bad I'm now too anxious to go on my walks

I was out on my daily walk yesterday and was swooped by 3 magpies working in unison, just down the street from my house. Literally one after the other taking turns going for me and it was brutal. It actually really scared me because they were being really vicious. I've been swooped before and I've been able to just run away a bit and they kind of just leave you alone but this time it was relentless. It went on for so long that a guy who saw what was happening came and helped me and like ran with me back to my house to get away from them (thank you random guy).

There are a bunch of magpies that hang out on my street and I've never been swooped by them. In fact when I mow the lawn they follow after me eating whatever bugs and bits are exposed by the fresh lawn. I felt like we were chill with each other 😭

Today I went out for a walk and I could only manage about 10 minutes as I was actually so scared it would happen again. Like I was stressing the whole time and watching every bird I came across thinking it was gonna go for me.

Now I'm too scared to go for a walk at all!

Anyone got any tips? Or is this just my life now? A fresh fear of birds.

Not On My Smashed Avo Cemented Neighbourhoods

In the last 6 months there has been 3 houses have sold that had really nice frontyard gardens.

I'm talking like a lot of native looking shrubs and flowers and small trees. Just stunning. Not grass lawn with a short row of roses - which whilst not my style much better than what has happened.

Since the new owners have come in all 3 have ripped up the gardens. 2 were demented over and one has been tiled with red brick.

It boggles my mind someone would buy a house only to destroy what makes having a house worthwhile. A garden. Shouldn't these people just live in apartments and enjoy their beige and gray lifeless plush sofas.

Another bad one was someone bought the most beautiful house in the neighborhood. It was a small stone cottage - they plastered it friccckin white and smooth. WTF? The family who lives there now are genuinely nice people but goddamn does it make no sense to me haha.

THDG Need Help Looking for a regular salon/barber who will cut hair around a hair system I supply, Melbourne South Eastern Suburbs

I’ve been wearing hair systems for quite a while and have been buying them online from Lord Hair, usually ordering them pre-cut. I’m now looking to do something different. I’d like to order my next system uncut, attach it myself, and then find a good regular hairdresser/barber who can cut my own hair and the system together. I’d really like to get back to having a proper haircut, where everything is shaped and blended together properly, rather than buying a pre-cut system and trying to make my own hair fit around it. I’m not looking for a hair-system salon where I have to purchase the system from them. I want to continue buying my systems myself and simply pay a hairdresser/barber for the haircut, cut-in and blending. Ideally somewhere around the Melbourne south-east suburbs, such as Oakleigh, Chadstone, Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley, Carnegie, Hughesdale, Huntingdale, Springvale, Dandenong, etc. Has anyone here been in the same situation and found a regular hairdresser/barber who is happy to cut and blend a customer-supplied hair system that’s already attached?
I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who’s actually done this.
