I've recently begun looking to upgrade my audio interface from behringer UMC22 to one of the two mentioned above (audient id4 mkii or focusrite solo gen 4), but I'm undecided. I use the input only for the guitar, and don't really use a microphone. I've heard that focusrite has better support for alsa, making it better but I'm not sure. Which one do I go for?

So recently I just installed ubuntu on my potato chromebook and I cant get the audio to play on the onboard speakers. The strange part is when I plug in my headphones into the 3.5 mm jack, audio works just fine. I’m more interested in getting both audio system working. (Havent tried to plug in a usb speaker yet).

The laptop in mention - The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 (7486)

Some of the things I tried

- Install new ubuntu version on the chromebook
- use WeirdTreeThing Chromebook linux audio script on github.
- checking alsamixer if my speakers are muted (no auto mute option on alsamixer for some reasons)

Open to suggestions!

Hi, I just want to record music why does it have to be so hard!

I am using ardour on mint and things were smooth until i started to get plugins guitarix and pipewire.

guitarix itself is a nightmare that works somehow when it wants to.

I am scared to test the drums / synth tools i got. I know i am to dumb to even try.

I heard something about audio stack, is there material i can consume to get me clued up, i am not very strong with computers but have done some tinkering. If there is anything youd recomend I read up on ? Youtubes 5year old tutorials are not helping.
