With the new laptops pricings so high due to the high memory cost, I turn to the used market for a new laptop. My first priority is that it needs to be very lightweight. As a result, I look at Thinkpad X1 Carbon, Fujitsu U939, Dynabook, and Panasonic Let's Note.
I decided on a Fujitsu U939 because it is only 800g in weight. Plus I found a great deal for $130USD with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. I was amazed by how light it is. I love mine.

Yeah, so my Mom backed out of the original laptop I wanted which was a TUF. One of the two employees she was talking to obviously had no sense of bro code whatsoever or maybe just has zero awareness cause he kept talking about how it could be good for gaming to a mother attending with their kid at a electronics store. The other one meanwhile easily gleaned off the way I talked and looked at him and understood, "yeah I gotchu lil bro" and was probably facepalming internally too.
Anyways, short story aside, is there anything I can do with a Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon, and 16GB of RAM just to get some decent gaming in? I plan on playing Battlefield 1, Warhammer 3, PGR, and a few others. Nothing too extraordinary but Id like to be able to play smoothly on decent graphics.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Country
United States
Budget
$500 USD ( work reimburses up to $500)
Are you open to refurbs/used options?
Yes
Screen size
Any, preferably 14–16”
Weight limit
Any reasonable laptop weight; portability is nice, but performance is more important.
Purpose
Work/remote work — extremely heavy multitasking and browser-based productivity.
Form factor
Standard/clamshell laptop preferred. 2-in-1 is not necessary.
Intended usage
My work is extremely browser- and multitasking-heavy. I regularly have multiple Chrome tabs and web applications running simultaneously for 8+ hours
My biggest concern is having the computer remain fast and responsive under heavy multitasking without tabs crashing, freezing, or the system slowing down.
I also connect the laptop to an external monitor when working from home so great connectivity is important.
Desired battery life
At least 6 hours would be nice, but battery life is not a major priority because this will primarily be used at home/work near a charger.
Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
Performance > Size > Weight > Battery life
Info/Requirements
Windows preferred.
Performance is the biggest priority. I would strongly prefer 16GB RAM or more, a modern/recent processor, and an SSD. Good thermal performance is important because my current laptop gets extremely hot during Teams video calls.
Reliable external-monitor connectivity is also important.
Built-in HDMI needed.
I do not need gaming performance, a touchscreen, OLED, or other premium features. I would rather have a fast, well-performing machine than a thin/light or fancy laptop.
I am open to refurbished or previous-generation business laptops if they offer significantly better performance/value for the $500 budget.

Label censored by a random image I found in my gallery.
My poor gigabyte A16 fell and broke at an airport and the port wore out too, sending it in for a free repair (as I'm on DSA) and I took out my upgrades beforehand, I did tell DSA not to change my SSD or RAM and that i will be checking dmidecode and I'm not too fussed about the OEM SSD, I use it for huge bits of data like games. my main SSD is with me and it has my arch setup on it.

Hi guys, i have an idea for spec like i7 processor, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd, gpu etc
I am on a budget of $1,500 can go up til $1,700 at max.
I am a surface user, it does everything fine but it is slow and overheats as it is an old laptop of nearly 8 years. Previous mac user. Loved my M1.
Thing is, i hate the plastic & chonky chassis of the gaming laptops. Only one i liked was Zephyrus G14 and Razer Blade both of which are very expensive and older models sre out of stock.
I don’t wanna buy a used laptop as i will be using it for 4+ years.
I was considering the Asus Zenbook A14 or the Hp omen.
My usage would be engineering design, simulation & programming. And occasional browsing.
Is the Zenbook okay? or do i must get a gaming laptop for the dedicated gpu?
Zephyrus goes for $2,400+ in my country.
What do you recommend i do?

Specs needed:-Ryzen 5 5500U / 5600U with 16 GB RAM, 512GB storage, an fhd/hd display catched my eye because it's under the exact budget my parents can comfortably afford—
It's my first time looking for laptops, my parents cannot afford much. I was looking to sell my 3+years old 64gb rom android to buy better mid budget androids, but now I'm compromising it as what I want is just a good functioning laptop.
No heavy gaming, just casuals, like indie artistic games and some Fortnite type shit or cs go...
The main goal is to watch movies, multitask, do some coding in pymol and other better molecular biology shit, pappers on Google scholar to read and study, which I can't do with my 6.67inch broken screen.
So that option was only good under 25k₹ of budget ( which is slightly above my father's monthly income)

Hello! My first time posting here. I was wondering if anyone of you here owns a TOSHIBA DYNABOOK PORTEGEX40?
I saw someone posted this in facebook and selling it for an affordable price. Planning to buy it for my sister for school-related works, and also for long-term use.
INTEL CORE I7-11th gen /16GB RAM DDR4/256GBSSD/ 14” IPS DISPLAY
-16GB RAM DDR4 (upgradeable)
-256GB SSD Storage (upgradeable)
I hope you could help me decide because this laptop seems promising 😄

Which one is better?
Hey I'm looking for a new gaming laptop. I came across two HP hyperX omen 15 variants.
1.
HyperX OMEN Gaming Laptop PC 15-GB0038AX
AMD Ryzen™ 7-260
24 GB RAM | 1 TB SSD
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5050 8 GB GDDR7 Graphics
15.3" 2.5K IPS Anti-glare Display
2.
HyperX OMEN Gaming Laptop PC 15-GA0028TX
14th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-14650HX processor
24 GB RAM | 1 TB SSD
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5050 8 GB GDDR7 Graphics
15.3" WQXGA IPS Anti-glare Display
The AMD one is slightly cheaper.
I'm someone who values longevity and efficiency a bit more than performance, so even if i can't play games at the highest settings and fps, if the gameplay is smooth and efficient with good thermals then I'm happy. That being said I wouldn't want to cut down on performance too much either. I would also be using it for occasional editing, 3d modelling and coding projects.
Just in case it's useful, the games I've previously played are RDR2, Elden ring, souls games, expedition 33 and i used to have a laptop with i5 and rtx 3050.
I hope someone can help me figure out which processor is better. Thanks!

I’m a chemical engineering student looking for a lightweight laptop (ideally 2–3.3 lbs) bc of back issues. I need it to prioritize reliably running engineering software, and also handle light/moderate gaming like Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite. I’d prefer at least 32GB+ RAM, 8+ hours of battery life, budget around $2,000. A 2-in-1/flip design for taking handwritten notes would be a bonus but not needed. I considered ThinkPad (idk what model), Lenovo Yoga 9i, ASUS ROG Flow Z13, and HP OmniBook Flip 14, but idk anything abt laptops n I don’t NEED a monster so I’m open to better or more specific recommendations!

Guys, MSI GF63 Thin 11UCX (i5 11th Gen, 16GB RAM, RTX 2050), a 2-year-used gaming laptop is being sold for 36K. Is it worth it? Should I buy it or skip it?

Recently bought the HP Omnibook Flip X and it came with this noticeable white light around the corners? Is it worth it to return? Should I return it and get Oled?

Earlier, when i woke up I used my laptop as usual.. Booted up roblox, maybe did a bit of work on my schools research and Boom! The battery wouldn't charge anymore. It's stuck at 0% and i did everything i could to troublehsoot it, I uninstalled the AC and battery drivers on my asus m415da, did a hard reset, and even updated windows. How do i even fix this? My battery health isnt even that bad or something.. Is this a quirk with asus laptops? do they self destruct eventually or something?? this happened so suddenly bruh

So for some context I had to leave my laptop over at my grandma's hometown because I was invited to my sister's wedding for two weeks.
I forgot my laptop was on sleep mode so I hope that by the time my two weeks had passed I can get back to my grandma's hometown and charge it.
But my stay got extended to two weeks and two months because I had my check up results come out and I have high blood sugar and high uric acid and high cholesterol so doctor told me to get those down in two months and that I should be back to normal without any risk of organ failure
I need to know if my laptop is going to be okay once my stay is over

Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide between two laptops and would really appreciate some advice.
Option 1 — Lenovo LOQ 17IRX10
i7-14700HX
RTX 5070
32GB RAM
1TB SSD
17.3" display
~2.9 kg
~2.5 cm thick
Option 2 — MacBook Air 15"
Apple Silicon
15.3" display
16GB RAM
512GB SSD
~1.5 kg
1.15 cm thick
I’ll mainly use the laptop for school, programming, general use, and gaming. Portability is also important, but I don't mind a heavier laptop if the performance difference is significant.
Which one would you choose and why?
And tell me if you have any other suggestions in that price range
