Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)
Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.
For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.
You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.

Should I submit a maintenance request?
Hi everyone! Lowk just don't know who to ask, but I live in one of the dorms and our showerhead always drips, like after closing it it doesn't close fully. I wanted to submit a maintenance request, but my roommate changed the showerhead to one with a filter(even before changing it it dripped), so she's scared that we'll get in trouble for that.
I just wanted to know if anyone went through something similar, and if we should submit the request or just deal with it the rest of our time here
Thanks!

Family weekend
So, I thought I was being clever by getting an Airbnb about 30 min away from Tallahassee on parents weekend to avoid the crazy high hotel prices. But, I kinda forgot that we will need to find parking when we drive to the game. Will that be basically impossible? We already bought tickets to the game, so I'd like to go, but am I even going to be able to park? Suggestions?

I am not happy here. I do not know what to do.
I feel like the idealism about the environment at FSU is a void. People say many things about this university, but no matter how hard I try, my experiences never quite seem to reflect what I've heard.
For starters, people eagerly say this campus is very diverse. On paper, sure, but it is false. I am a transfer student; I attended a local college and never applied to a university because I had health issues. My classes had students of different ages and ethnicities (Latino, Caribbean, South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European), a variety of identities, and diverse religious values. I do not see diversity here. It is funny in my orientation at FSU; I transferred in the spring of 2026. An older woman was told that parents should stay another way for the orientation, when she told the orientation guide that she is the student, not the parent. She felt uncomfortable about explaining that she is an older student.
I think there is a problem here: if you do not fit the image of the type of student they typically have, you are an inconvenience. I was trying to vent to an FSU alum who was interested in being my friend about this issue, and his response was, "Did you expect cultural competency and no racism/bigotry on this campus?"
Another issue is when I tell people I transferred from a local college, there is this odd snobbery. Like, me not transferring from a university makes people oddly arrogant. I am also slightly older because I had health issues, so I took a gap year, and people also have the nerve to make comments like Why am I much older? Being a transfer student too with my AA people also speculate I took the easy way into FSU or that my academics must not be as good. Which is silly, but it is irritating that everybody, including some professors, sort of talks down to you.
There is also an issue I faced as a transfer student that left me uncomfortable. I am a psychology major, and when I transferred, I had to do a new nole orientation. My advisor, Lauren Davenport, was oddly aggressive toward me. So I walked into her office to do my appointment I explain, I am a transfer student that is premed. I also told her I am a bit nervous, and I was informed at orientation that I had to take classes that I was not originally told to take at my former college. At one moment, she shouted at me to calm down, spoke aggressively when I was confused and then looked annoyed at me for being lost. I have never in my life been yelled at in this setting; I just stayed silent. When she finished my advising meeting , she never removed my hold nor provided links that would help me as a student in the advising report. I had to attend other meetings with advisors to help orient myself, and it was a very rough semester trying to figure out how to plan my summer classes. Then also trying to figure out how to get involved, with no guidance whatsoever.
I also went to a career advisor for the psychology department. She was like a mega snob about my background. She even discouraged me from an FSU intern position. Twice I went to her, and she made very odd, condescending comments about what I did for work and the certifications I got. I went to other career advisors much more professional and objective to say write your resume like this and rewrite that. She always had an extra unnecessary comment.
Fall 2027 starts. I have a very kind roommate, but she's too immature for me. I had to drop my classes and move out of the dorm because of the situation she has. My roommate likes to drink; she is underage, steals things, and wants to purchase edibles. I do not feel safe reporting it because I do not know if I'll have another bad roommate. What bothers me is that she even asked me if I could buy her alcohol. I also hated the dorm; there was mold. I reported it three times about other issues too.
My roommate also made two racist jokes that were racist: one joking that my mom is from Washington Heights because I told her my mom is from NY and I'm visually Hispanic. She also made a joke about doing a rain ritual. For context, I am Indigenous, so that did make me uncomfortable. I laughed it off, but I felt really grossed out. I also did not want to report her because she is extremely young and not my business to tell her how to behave. Especially since I spent a good portion cleaning up after her in the bathroom.
Based on my observations, I feel FSU creates an environment where outcasted demographics are not treated the same way. I have more experiences from FSU I can mention too where I felt uncomfortable, scared, and unwelcomed. I am also not denying any good things I have experienced and positives, though it is just the repeat of feeling this eerie energy. Then I have had people saying it is my failure in how I am applying myself, or that I am not trying hard to fit into the school. I just do not know anymore what to do to be happy. At times I have thought about transferring out, but it is not an easy process, and I only have 3 semesters left of this.
Sorry for the long post and any typos. I am a bit emotional writing this because I feel lost about what to do. I do not know what more I can do to try to fit in at this point. Especially when people unintentionally like to point out how different you are with their face, tone, and directly say things that translate you're not welcomed.

HELP - Physics 2
I am currently taking Physic B (trig based) with Crede and am stressing out about this class. We were told during the first week that there would be no calculators on the exams because we wouldn’t need them since our answers will be in expressions. Our homeworks this semester also don’t count toward our final grade so our grade strictly comes from exams, lab, and recitation. I feel like I am struggling to grasp the content for this class and idk why because I did well in Physics A. Is there anyone who has taken this class with this teacher and has any advice? Thank you in advance!

Missing White Siamese Calico Cat
*BUTTERS HAS BEEN FOUND* HALLELUJAH!!! IVE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY Our baby Princess Buttercup, Butters for short, was sitting in the cracked window this morning when the screen popped out. She has been missing since around 4:30am when we heard the noise between Hartsfield Rd and Moon Ln, off of Mission Rd. Please please please keep an eye out and contact me directly if anyone spots her. She is mostly white so it’s easier to see her if she’s in any kind of bushes or grass. We love her so much and just want her to come home safe. We’re offering a significant reward if anyone is able to help us find her, direct message me for any additional info if needed.

Anyone else have this issue with bright futures?
I registered for classes on the 21st. Before and after that my bright futures was showing as $2082. Since about August 26, it's been showing as $0. I spoke to financial aid and they told me to call the school I transferred from because I have a letter about ineligibility due to not having enough credit hours... I completed 16 credit hours for my last two semesters and I'm currently taking 12. I don't understand why I ever got ineligibility, as I've always taken more than 6 credit hours and always checked for my BF to be disbursed every semester. I've emailed and called OSFA, my prior institution, and spoken with fsu's financial aid. Any advice?

2 weeks into FSU and feeling pretty stuck on rush plus making friends in general
Not gonna sugarcoat it, first two weeks have been rough on the social front. Haven't really made any actual friends yet. Everyone I meet either doesn't share my interests or is still glued to their high school friend group.
I do have one close friend from home, but he's rushing this fall and I already know once pledgeship kicks in I'm not gonna see much of him either. So that's basically off the table too.
I've been going back and forth on rushing myself. Part of me wants to since it seems like the fastest way to actually meet people, but I also feel like I'm starting way behind. Some of these guys have been networking with houses all summer through legacy connections and family friends, and I'm just now showing up to my first events next week to support my buddy. Feels like I'm playing catch up before I've even decided if I want to play.
The other annoying part is the timing. Rush events are conflicting with intramural signups and the first meetings for some clubs I wanted to check out, which honestly felt like my best shot at meeting people who actually share my interests. So now I'm stuck picking one lane without even knowing if it's the right one.
For context I'm a pretty normal guy. I like sports, traveling, going out on weekends, and I actually care about my grades. It feels like almost everyone with that exact combo is already in a frat or planning to join one, which makes the "find your people outside Greek life" plan a lot harder than I expected.
This weekend I'll probably be going to the football game by myself. My roommates and neighbors are cool but we don't really click on interests. The two people I've gone out with so far these past couple of weekends are both out of town this weekend too and I don't really know about clubbing alone.
Not looking for pity, just wondering if anyone else felt this stuck freshman year, especially with rush timing screwing up other ways to meet people. I feel like I'm left choosing between rushing or doing clubs and intramurals. Did it get better? Is it even worth rushing if you're behind on the connections side already? Anyone find their group a different way?

Making friends
I’m transferring in spring and I’m really nervous. I’ve been thinking about DMing people to like make some connections before I go cause I feel more comfortable texting then meeting than just like going up to people. I’m not like a weird person or anything, I like to go out and party and stuff, but I do have a lot of social anxiety. I used to live in Miami and pretty much every single close friend I’ve had, I met online first. Like i can hang but I feel more comfortable already knowing someone and meeting people through them. Is it weird to text people and just being like “hey im transferring in spring and im trying to make some friends”?

Spring admissions help
Hello everyone, basically I really just need advice on what would be the best route for me to take. I’m currently attending a CC for my AA in Florida and I applied for FSU spring 2027 as a transfer student but was originally denied because I didn’t meet the world-language requirement. I wasn’t aware when I spoke to my admission that I had to do this because it was never brought up and now I have to take the SPANISH CLEP exam. My worry is that FSU won’t receive the final score before the OCT 1st deadline and I’m kinda lost on what to do. Idk if I should submit an appeal first? or am I cooked either way. Ik the best thing to do is talk directly to fsu admissions so I’m gonna do that tomorrow but ik it’s a tight deadline now. I’ve only wanted to go to FSU and I don’t want to stay where I am currently so I’m feeling a bit hopeless tbh

Do admissions prefer a SAT or ACT score for first-years?
Hello all, I am a high school graduate looking into future admissions requirements for joining the FSU student body. Due to some complications with my high school years I never actually took a SAT/ACT test, and I am now needing to look into which one I should take post-graduation.
This might sound like a very stupid question, but does the admissions office have any preference on which test means more to them during the application review process? I want to make sure I have every advantage I can.
Thank you all so much 🙏

Anyone know how the dining promo works?
Hello there, I signed up for a fall meal plan and have $25 under “Dining $ Promo.” I ate at Pollo a few days ago, but it charged my regular Dining $ balance instead.
Does anyone know how the promo works? Do I have to ask the cashier to use it, or is it only valid at certain places/times? I’d appreciate any help.

Difficult to find a girlfriend as an international grad student
Being a grad student is less fun on top of it being an international makes it even worse. Tried dating apps, they never work. Tried to find people at my hobby places, they didn’t work. Too shy to go out by myself and start a conversation with unknown people. What would you do if you are in my shoes. Help a brother out.

missing critter!
hey guys, i’m absolutely devastated typing this but i lost my monchichi keychain on campus on friday, somewhere between azalea and traditions garage. i’ve been retracing my steps to try and find him, and unfortunately discovered what might be his chain on the ground outside traditions. i’ve attached a photo of the chain and what he looks like. i wouldn’t care a whole lot if he didn’t have the sentimental value, he’s traveled the world with me and seen some amazing things, and was a gift from someone who meant alot to me. the chain makes me think someone probably picked him up, and im hoping they have it in their heart to return him to me. please dm me if you know anything!
