SkyRC MC5000 -- new revision?
I have been quite frustrated with my MC5000 for 3 major reasons:
- USB-C PD but *output only*
- no actual battery rescue for Li* cells with tripped self-protection circuits
- lack of "just charge the thing" mode -- putting in AAA NiMH cells seems to autodetect the size but that's about it
I noticed that the hero image on their website now clearly states "AC/PD dual input": https://www.skyrc.com/image/catalog/product/charger/100214/mc5000-device.jpg?20260316vvvvvavv and the specs list 100W PD in
The feature list right below it (https://www.skyrc.com/mc5000) also now clearly shows "battery rescue", which makes it sound like two of my top complaints are solved. I immediately went to the firmware update menu, hoping that these are both shipped to existing users, but it's showing me on latest (v1.83)
Did they quietly ship a new hardware revision while leaving previous buyers holding the bag? It's very hard to tell from the site because some of the images still show the old front panel without PD input claim; the manual now has the new info. Anyone know what's going on?
