[BST] September 2026 Buy, Sell, Trade Thread - 10 years and counting!

Welcome to the monthly r/flashlight Buy, Sell, Trade thread, an r/flashlight tradition since 2015!

The Rules

Requirements

  1. Prove possession with a timestamp: a piece of paper placed under your sale item(s) with your Reddit username handwritten and the posting date (no more than 2 weeks old). Trade items require timestamps, too!
  2. Top-level comments must be WTS or WTB. Anything else will be removed. Begin your top-level comment with WTB (Want to Buy), WTS (Want to Sell), or WTT (Want to Trade).
  3. A price is required.
  4. Reposting WTS or WTB items from previous BSTs is fine. Do not repost within the same month!
  5. Since 10/10/2025, absolutely no weapon-related items, including weapon lights. (details).
  6. Take necessary precautions; trading over the Internet is risky. Moderators hold no control over deals, good or bad.

Suggestions

  • Your location
  • Emitter details
  • A bunch of photos of your items
  • If you make an errant comment, just report it so we can keep the BST clean!

Reminder: Buy the Seller

If an interaction seems sketchy to you, run away! Scams can and do happen through the BST! Here are some tips:

  • Timestamp. If the person you're dealing with isn't quick to provide timestamps on the images, or a photo of the flashlight in a shoe or whatever, don't deal with them.
  • Reverse image searching is a great way to catch scammers.
  • Excuses or giving you a hard time are red flags.
  • Using a platform other than Reddit messaging for communication is a red flag.
  • Check post history. Brand new accounts or accounts with long pauses in activity, etc., might not be trustworthy.
  • It's good practice to comment on this post before sending a PM; scammers often won't comment publicly (and banned users can't comment here.) r/flashlight participates in the USL for this very reason.

If you're dealing with someone who might be sketchy, take screenshots of your interactions and report them to the mods! We ban those who threaten the integrity of the BST!

Do not let a scammer be more diligent than you!

Question How do you store your flashlight batteries?

I usually put them all in the same box. What are the chance of batteries completing circuits and a fire risk?

[PSA] Acebeam H18 headlamp can only be mounted in one orientation

Post image
Upvotes

It might be important for the right-handed people.

H18 can only be installed with its head on the right-hand side.

Since the light source is on the right, my right-hand fingers and tools create a shadow over the point of interest.

I always mount my headlamps on the left-hand side but it’s impossible with H18.

2nd pic is the original Fresnel lens, and it has some horrible ring artifacts and tint shift going on.

3rd pic is the modded version (mule).

I much prefer the modded version for my use case. Two 18mm glass lenses + 18mm GITD O-rings from Convoy fit directly, so the mod is super easy to do.

I’m happy with it! 😄

Dangerous My wurkkos fc11c fried itself after not even 2 weeks😔

I bought a wurkkos fc11c about a week and a half ago. I've been using it occasionally for daily tasks and night walks. It was raining and I was using it to look around my yard for frogs. When I took it inside I dropped it from about waist height on to a soft carpet. When the light hit the ground it turned off instantly. I picked it up thinking absolutely nothing of it. Assumed the battery just got jostled and disconnected power for a second. I set it on my desk when I started to smell something funky. I looked over at the light to see smoke billowing from the charge port. Immediately scrambled to unscrew the bottom and pulled the battery out as quick as I could. What a shame. Hopefully I can get a refund. I really liked this light and I have no idea how a 4 foot drop onto a carpet would cause such a major failure. Anyway just thought I would share my experience. Luckily the thing didn't start a fire. I'm very concerned for what may have happened if I had just left the room or didn't notice the smoke. The smoke didn't stop until I removed the battery.

Review Acebeam is not reliable long-term

I have the X75. Used rarely. Used only when I need to at nights where I need to inspect surroundings. Just after 2 years of ownership, it started behaving weirdly. Pressing turbo just shots off the light after a flash of turbo, even when fully charged and hard-"reset".

It reached a point where it started flashing colors on the charging port that's unknown to me or the manual.

I reached out to Acebeam and got a replacement charging board. When replaced, the behavior stayed the same. Turbo flashes the turbo power, but just a flash, then shuts off. I did a teardown of the battery and found that there's another board in the battery itself. I reached out to Acebeam and the response is to buy a new battery. That new battery is $179.

I'm not certain I would want to keep buying brand-new batteries everytime something goes weird. Their battery pack design is also sealed off, getting to it was hard. I tested voltage of each cells individually and they're fine. I was expecting that I would have to replace the cells but no. Cells are fine. It matched my light usage, no wear and tear. The IC just gave up after 2 years.

My other cheap/budget lights were more reliable. I won't name them to avoid bias, but I used them more frequently as my "beater" flashlights. They're still here, still working, still charging.

From a reliability stand-point, it's cheaper to bring a couple cheap/budget lights on a search and rescue, vs bringing an X75 which may just fail with an irrepairable battery.

This is what they gave me instead of HS21

I do inspections in the roof cavity and need to wear a headlamp. The only one they had is the insanely heavy Milwaukee so I asked if I can get a different headlamp. They said no worries, send us a link which one you’d like and we’ll order it.
I picked Sofirn HS21 and Wurkkos H25LR and this is what they got instead.
Save to say I’m getting my own headlamp. Fuck it

Convoy S2+ glows green when off

I noticed this a couple of times now that my Convoy S2+ with a Nichia 519A 1800K glows slightly green when off in complete darkness. Why is that?

Review 27 minutes into a 60W run, the light is still drawing 61.95W

Post image
5 Upvotes

I ran the 60W mode for 27 minutes and 17 seconds to see if it would step down under sustained load.

The inline meter read 6.060V, 10.226A, and 61.95W at that point. This is battery-side input power, not optical output, but it was still pulling essentially the same power after 27 minutes.

Has anyone else measured sustained input on a high-power work light?

NLD [NLD] Surefire M3 Combat Light Millenium - out of the box, like new

Never had any Surefire model yet and I've been lucky to find this gem in a box with truly 2000's vibe, xenon bulb and untouched accessories. Even batteries are still running this light with it's genuine output. Great piece of light, good to see history in comparison to all modern flashlights I collect.

[NLD] Convoy Z1 + S21D + 🫘

My first Convoy order and i have to say i am impressed. Order arrived in a reasonable amount of time and the shipping + taxes was not as expensive as i feared. At first glance the quality seems on par with much more expensive lights, which is a positive surprise at this price point.

The Z1 (sft-25r 5000k) is an absolute beast! Everything i hoped for and then some. Perfect flooder and thrower combl. This will make a fine addition to my backpack.

The S21D (xpl hi 5000k) is as expected an absolute wall of light, however the lack of throw kinda surprised me. I got the 10° tir lens as i read the other lenses make it even floodier.

If you are still reading, i would like recommendations on a pocket carry edc. Preferably tail switch and a bit throwier. No need for onboard charging or magnetic tailcap. Will be used to check mail and light some small hard to reach spaces.

Low Effort Are there any redeeming qualities to a 4D maglite in 2026 besides *bonk*?

Like, d cells are expensive and not very energy dense, they leak, and even with krypton bulbs, not very bright. Its been near 20 years since I had one, but they were the light to have back then, it was like a proto-zoomie. Is there any reason to have one nowadays, even if there might be a LED replacement bulb?

Need a close range Headlamp or a small EDC? AA Zebras are sturdy little fellows.

Zebra Features:

High CRI 4000K 519a, lightweight, hard anodized, waterproof, and potted.
Drop proof except for the glass lens.

Recessed button that does not require lockout.
Programmable 3 mode UI.

The handheld version has a screwed on clip with nice firm retention.

Battery options:

Alkaline (bad idea),
Eneloop (good idea),
Ultimate Lithium (best for long term storage, and lightest battery weight)
1.5V LiIon w USB-C (convenient built in charging and less weight than Eneloop, my personal favorite).

Is there a way we can make this happen? Convoy M21K (SFT-25R): Estimated Specs & Performance.

Upvotes

The way I see it, If you pair the Convoy M21K host (55mm head diameter) with a small-die, high-luminance SFT-25R emitter, comparing a 50mm 1-degree ultra-narrow TIR optic against the standard 50mm 3-degree TIR creates two distinct long-range profiles.

Here is how the realistic performance numbers break down:

SPECIFICATION COMPARISON

Spot Angle

Standard 3° TIR: 3° Tight Spot + Soft Spill Ring

Custom 1° TIR: 1° Ultra-Narrow Beam

Max Lumens

Standard 3° TIR: ~1,400 – 1,600 lm

Custom 1° TIR: ~1,400 – 1,600 lm

Peak Beam Intensity

Standard 3° TIR: ~500,000 – 580,000 cd

Custom 1° TIR: ~750,000 – 900,000 cd

Max Throw Distance

Standard 3° TIR: ~1,410 – 1,520 m (~0.9 mi)

Custom 1° TIR: ~1,730 – 1,900 m (~1.1 mi)

Driver / Current

Standard 3° TIR: 3V 6A Buck Driver

Custom 1° TIR: 3V 6A Buck Driver

Spill Profile

Standard 3° TIR: Very Minimal

Custom 1° TIR: Virtually Non-Existent

Vibe Check

Standard 3° TIR: Long-Range Heavy Hit

Custom 1° TIR: Budget LEP Alternative

THE BREAKDOWN:

The 3° Setup: An efficient long-range thrower. Passing ~1,500 lumens through the 50mm 3-degree TIR lens hits ~1,500m of throw while keeping enough hotspot width for searching target areas.

The 1° Setup: Squeezing that same output down into a 1-degree cone pushes peak intensity toward 900,000 Candela, delivering a focused shaft of light with near-zero side spill.

NLD Did you know 3000k throwers could do this? New F150R Convoy M21B

I‘m never going back to washed out white light ever again.

Trees are 200 meters away.

Beam shots are not white balance locked, they are adjusted to match what my eyes see. The best comparison I have is the SFT42R 5000k in my S2+ with round gasket fix.

For this light’s design I based my theme off of NASA’s white, gold and orange color schemes. The lanyard in particular is purposely designed for use as a walk light. The M21B has the perfect size where its small enough to fit in a pants pocket while you go inside a store but its not something you’d want to carry around in your pants 24/7. So this lanyard is meant to hang out of the pocket for easy retrieval due to no pocket clip. Then when using the light instead of putting your wrist through the lanyard, you just put your thumb through which allows you to carry something in your hands while holding the light and not have to worry about dropping it. It’s also much easier to swing the light back up into the hand due to being shorter than a wrist strap.

Having the lanyard over a clip, is not only more functional for a light this big, but it is reminiscent of the tethers NASA uses for their tools on spacewalks.

Finally, this light has proven to be my go to light even beyond night walks. Due to the massive 6000mAh 21700 battery I’ve been enjoying this light as mood lighting before bed. It’s .2Amp 1% mode is plenty of light to bounce off the ceiling and lasts for something stupid like 20hours.

Low Effort Acebeam H18 with Nichia 519a 5000K emitters. But it’s not 5000K

Thumbnail

Compare those two headlamps with (theoretically) the same emitters: Nichia 519a 5000K.

Skilhunt is much closer to the declared 5000K than Acebeam.

Nichia is binning their emitters and pretty tightly (see 2nd picture) so it should be possible to source emitters close to the declared CCT — Skilhunt proved that.

Anyone have a cool charging hub for your electronics?

Looking to make a not so jumbled wire mess charging hub that I can charge things like my flashlights, batteries, bt speakers etc..

Something I can have out in the open that is either decorative or hidden.

Also, I just realized my charger doesn’t charge 21700 cells so if anyone has a recommendation on a good battery charger for the various flashlight batteries It’d be appreciated (18650/21700/14500)!

Pics appreciated!

Thanks in advance
