How to turn only the bolt?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’m trying to install a seat bidet and can’t get this hose unscrewed, I try to hold the metal part of the hose with a plier while I use a wrench on the bolt but as the bolt turns, so does the hose and I can’t seem to stop it… The hole gets twisted too much that I can’t keep unscrewing

Edit: I meant to say nut thank you for the clarification, this is an older building downtown I moved into yesterday, I can’t twist the top part for the life of me trying several times, since you all say I need a new hose I will just buy one and hope building maintenance will come by with better tools and reconnect the hose with the bidet hose in between

Thank you guys

Wife set it down in her own chewing gum while commuting to work. Accountability not as important as a solution. Any suggestions are welcome. Thinking isopropyl alcohol, but wanted to consult the masses before making a mistake. Thanks in advance🙏 !

Poured hot water down a bathroom sink drain to help unclog and heard a big bang and found under the sink has cracked. Wondering if I can seal this with epoxy or doesn’t it need replaced. It’s dripping water when I let water run.

I want to freshen up the colors and paint the nose red. What will survive the winter without flaking or fading?
Also, any products that would allow me to add some glitter or sparkle flakes?

So my dog really F'up 2 of my doors. I don't want to just make it passable since this is a rental. I really wanna fix it as much as possible. I was thinking of just using some light sandpaper to smooth them in and then try with walnuts first see what the hype is all about. If that fails I get one of these pens from amazon maybe? What do y'all think??? Any experts who went through similar damage?

You can see the black plastic stick. That's the pendulum. There's a little white circle which I assume is a magnet maybe. I inherited this clock from my grandma. No idea when the last time the pendulum worked was.

Ceiling fan, grinded at first, had to push to start at times, now squeaking non stop.

This is a Hampton Bay ceiling fan, it sucks, I don't own this house though and it's just not worth getting the landlord involved. I read online that these are made impossible to grease the motor on but I'm wondering if there are any secrets anyone can tell me. I run this thing nearly nonstop even in winter because I run hot so it's very inconvenient to not be able to use this but the squeaking is that bad. I'm a little bit handy, like can change cartridges on faucets and change all the components to a toilet, and fix little things here and there. What kind of options do I have?

Knob of Gas Stove Smoking

I was cleaning the top of my gas stove with water and fairy liquid when I noticed the bottom knob for controlling the 4th hob was emitting a lot of smoke. It emitted a faint noise and alot of smoke for about 2 minutes and then made a very loud bang and shot a flame from under the knob. Immediately after the bang the smoking and noise stopped. I've disconnected power to the stove but couldn't disconnect gas as I stupidly can't find the keys to breaker box. The kitchen now smells strongly of burnt plastic, I've left the door open to let the smell out.

I've not tested the stove since as frankly I'm too scared of starting a fire, what next steps should I take? Is it safe to test if the stove still works, do I need to call someone to repair it as I'm currently dead broke.

The problem is I have several sections that are not full 2×4 sections and since these new tiles have a decorative design, how can I fill in these smaller sections? TIA

Hi all.

What would be the best way to fix this crack? This is a part of a screen and this crack is where the hinge is. There are no replacement parts unfortunately. so the only solutions is to reinforce this and fix it.

A kind redditor said this abs+pc plastic.

So my big dumb ogre self recently forgot how low the ceiling arms are in my girlfriends studio and completely snapped the arm off of her ceiling fan and am in desperate need of finding a replacement fan blade arm. I’ve looked everywhere including Lowe’s and Home Depot and all over the internet until I found the manufacturer sticker on the fan and called them just to realize it’s a discontinued model. I’ve managed to find a couple that resemble it on Facebook but no one is responding. Does anyone here know where I may be able to source one? Closest information I could find is it’s a harbor breeze tulip style fan blade arm. The last picture is the only thing close to a serial number I could find.

open Exhaust fan for moisture under large deck?

I tried to post this earlier but had a link in, and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t post because Reddit thought I was promoting the link (to the fan.) This question is about a 36 inch exhaust fan and I had an example, but the brand doesn’t really matter in terms of the answer.

Hi Reddit,

We recently bought a home with a large (20 x 15) deck. We have a moisture problem in our crawl space, and this is causing a bug problem.

I strongly suspect that a lot of the moisture problem is because of the deck, and that also seems to be bug heaven (the deck.)

We’ve gotten some crawl space mitigation done by a professional contractor and also have a professional pest control company treating, but we need to fix the root problem obviously. I can’t really find a Reddit opinion or much information online, but I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts about exhaust fan install (by a professional electrician) to help mitigate some of the deck moisture.

The sellers had no lattice or anything else on the edges of the deck, and I let the deck guy talk me into deck boards (which basically sealed the deck, yes I regret it and yes I immediately realized that was a dumb choice THE MOMENT THEY FINISHED but I had 7 contractors here all at once and took their suggestion despite having wanted something else.) The moisture problem pre-dates us, though (termite-moisture inspection noted too much moisture but fortunately no termites or mold/fungus.)

I was thinking about this fan, is this a reasonable idea to mitigate the deck issue?

I accidentally spilled water on receiver. I was trying to open the pannel to clean it with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol.

But on the screws on the left side aren't coming out. All three screws keep rotating. It even keeps rotating when I try to tighten it. Seems like some special screws. I am not able to find any help online.

I have a feeling this is going to get me some mockery because from what I’ve read people really like these but my wife and I want to install a cupboard on this wall and are wondering if it’s feasible to close off this recessed shelf? What would the pro way be to do it, we wouldn’t want to take any shortcuts and that extends to calling in a professional if needs be, I’m just looking for a place to start.
