I started the events in the meme from the day of the invasion in 2022, Russia's military intervention in the civil war which began in 2014. The text panels are a liberal or liberal who just thinks he's a socialist talking, and we see his or her Nazisplaining evolve over time.

If this is from the perspective of media reporting, it should start with the regular make-upless guy in 2021 or earlier stating: Ukraine is full of Nazis. Up until the minute Russia invaded, Western media loved reporting on Ukraine’s massive, widespread Nazi problem.

I still remember the moment I found out the “three day special military operation” began. Before I even had a clue what happened or who was involved the reporter just would not stop repeating that there’s “no Nazis in Ukraine” like it was his verbal tic. I was so confused because 1. he’s still not talking about what even happened and 2. earlier that very week I had read an excellent write-up about how Ukraine’s military was infested with neonazis, in particular the Azov Brigade. I remember being struck by the extreme, immediate, and overwhelming spin; being browbeaten with justification and manufactured consent with occasional snippets of actual reporting in between.

Add to that the fact that Hegseth is promoting "Christian nationalist" views, loyalty to Trump and himself, and a disregard for the Geneva Conventions and the rules of war, and we have the makings of turning our small (historically) military into some sort of "Praetorian Guard."
