I keep looking at mirror-style dash cams because the wider rear view sounds useful, and Wolfbox is one of the names I keep seeing, but the install is what makes me hesitate. Running a rear camera cable through trim, past airbags, and into a hatch or tailgate seems like the kind of weekend job that either goes fine or turns into broken clips and rattles. I am also trying to understand the day-to-day side: night brightness, parking mode setup, and whether the screen feels normal after a while. For people who installed one themselves, was the wiring the worst part, or am I overthinking it compared with a regular windshield camera?

I’m 18 and I was driving home from my bfs house. I was on the highway and I took the exit home, where we have to yield to the other cars. I yielded for an ambulance and this ding dong zoomed around me and cut in front of me. I flashed my high beams at him once and as soon as we got to the squished part of the highway everything went so bad.

There was the divider on the highway and we had two lanes. This dude started to slow down in front of me, so I moved to the left lane to pass him. As I go to pass him, he starts to SWERVE AT ME. Like completely trying to shove me into the divider. I beeped at him for a solid ten seconds. And then he did it two more times! The jackass ended up taking an exit two seconds later!

I’m so mad that I didn’t get his license plate and it’s so crazy to me that someone would INTENTIONALLY swerve into a car. Life isn’t gta like oh my goodness. But they took the exit to the booty drug infested area so I’m not surprised. It was a black car with mad tinted windows and I just keep hoping he fell off the exit or got arrested. But yeah I want a dashcam or something similar. Where can I get one? Does it record 24/7?

Hi! Reaching out to reddit for help!! I was recently involved in a car accident on Washington Blvd near the intersection of Adams and Washington in Culver City on Tuesday Sept 1 around 7:20pm.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone happened to witness it or have footage! I have a little blue prius and they were driving a honda. It would help so so much! My car was totaled and the driver admitted fault at the accident but is now trying to claim it’s dual!

This guy was originally driving the wrong way on the freeway. He almost hit me head on before he crashed. He turned around then passed me going over 100mph dragging pieces of the fence that he ran over behind him. I forced him to exit the freeway and followed him through the neighborhood until he flipped his car over.
He had crashed into several other cars, clipped a guy on a bicycle and almost hit two kids walking their dog. This idiot almost killed five people on this day. Please don't drive impaired. This happened in November of 2020.

Soo, I seem to have a habit of discovering drunk drivers while driving around town. Not sure why, but it’s been a fair amount of times now.

This last time however, they managed to hit me, but thankfully when starting from a dead stop. I had noticed them for a while before that though and I was on the phone with 911 when it happened. The reason that I’m now researching a camera is that this time they started out behind me. Due to them only hitting me from a dead stop the damage was minimal (thankfully) and the cops initially told me that unless they could find a reasonable suspicion they would just have to do an information exchange and that would be it.

Long story short, this person ended up going to jail that night, but they had the potential to get away with it just based on the fact that it was a “he said, she said” type of situation and this persons driving was BAD.

So in the future (hopefully it never happens again, but let’s be real) I’d like to be able to have objective evidence of my claims.

Ideal specs:

-Constant recording or at least a security mode.
-Front and back cameras
-Easily installable
-No real extra subscriptions or anything, all memory card based
-Quality and easy to use
-Easily transferrable to the next vehicle.

This happened yesterday in Oregon on I 84 eastbound just after Pendleton, the driver who crashed told the police that he was trying to light a cigarette

My wife and I were heading to get some late lunch and these 2 zoomed past us. One tried to overtake and the other overcorrected and flipped over the guard rail to the other side of the highway. We managed to lift the convertible up and the guy crawled out from underneath with minor cuts and bruises. My dash cam was able to get the tag number of the Florida plate that caused the flip.

We had margaritas that afternoon.

Insurance found the other party 100% at fault (duh). My car is totalled. Speed limit is 35 my cam does show slightly over what my car is actually doing. That street and across have stops, the road I am travelling and the other vehicle across from me have right of way on the main road. At fault party didn’t even take a full stop. I did try to brake and my emergency assist also intervened. If I could learn anything from this, it’s to never assume people will actually obey traffic laws.

They said the sun was in their eyes and they couldn’t see my massive, black SUV.. Right. Anyway, enjoy

I was waiting in a driveway and I wasn't sure why the bird was flying around so erratically. I played it back and slowed it down and found out what it was doing. It's not the usual kind of stuff you catch on dash cam.
