Has anyone used this 2 books (vol. 1 and 2) to study for the exam? I bought it because I wanted to try to study using a physical book rather than just videos (like JITL).

I belive that I understand something better when I read. However, I believe my progress is not satisfactory to be honest.

I am updating my CV after getting CCNA. I have 3 years of experience working as an IT Support Specialist. I am planning to apply to Junior Network Admin/Engineer jobs and I was wondering what are some skills I should list in my CV from CCNA since I don’t have experience?

Also is it worth adding a section of Networking Projects and mention the MEGA CCNA lab 🧪 f Jeremy’s IT Lab as well some other small network projects I have created from scratch on packet tracer?

CCNA gives a good foundation, but I’m wondering what beginners should explore beyond the certification material.

Linux? Wireshark? Network troubleshooting? Cloud networking? Home labs?

If you’re already working in networking, what would you recommend learning next?

I'm currently studying for the Cisco CCNA using Jeremy's IT Lab, and I've seen a lot of people say that JITL, along with the labs and flashcards, is enough to prepare for the exam.

My question is: how do you actually manage all the flashcards, and which ones do you focus on?

I'm currently on Day 31 (IPv6), and I downloaded the flashcards for that day. There are 75 cards just for Day 31!

When I think about all the previous flashcards, plus all the new ones I'll get from the remaining days, it feels almost impossible to keep reviewing everything — especially while working an 8-hour job. Even without a full-time job, reviewing hundreds of cards regularly seems difficult.

For those of you who used JITL to pass the CCNA:

- Did you actually review all the flashcards?

- Did you eventually remove/suspend the cards you already knew well?

- Did you focus more on certain topics or cards?

- How much time did you spend on flashcards each day?

I'd really appreciate hearing how you managed them while preparing for the exam!

Is the INE course for ccna automation better or is the CBT nuggets better? Any other advice is appreciated thank you!

Wildcard masks have been driving me a bit crazy while studying lately. I get that they are basically the opposite of subnet masks, helping you tell a router which parts of an IP address to pay attention to and which parts to ignore. But whenever I try to calculate them on the fly for access lists, my brain just gets tangled up inverting all those binary numbers.

Did a specific trick or analogy finally make wildcard masks click for you, or did it just take a ton of practice problems before it felt normal?

I applied for several cloud-related jobs, and one of the companies got back to me saying I’m a candidate for a Cisco CCNA TAC Customer Support Engineer position.
The problem is, I only know the basics of networking from a college course I took a few years ago, and I’m currently focusing on Microsoft Azure.

I’ve temporarily stopped studying Azure because I have an assessment for this company, which also requires a recorded video while I’m solving the assessment.

What should I expect from the assessment, and what topics should I focus on studying beforehand? Any tips for preparing for the test and the recorded video?

I’m in my senior year of college and just passed my CCNA. I also just started my second year working help desk for my school as well as recently finishing up a help desk internship this summer. Should I continue targeting those help desk roles or would my experience warrant a better entry level job?

I know the job market is brutal but I’m wondering if it is saturated by people without degrees or related experience, and if my experience will stand out or if I should just stick to help desk.

Best CCNA study approach for experienced IT/Network+ guy who doesn’t live in Cisco CLI?
I’m looking for some advice on the most efficient way to prepare for the CCNA.

A little background: I’ve worked in IT for 20+ years and currently work in an IT infrastructure/networking environment. I have Network+ and a solid understanding of networking fundamentals, but I don’t work in the Cisco CLI configuring switches/routers every day. I understand concepts like VLANs, routing, switching, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, ACLs, etc., but I know understanding the concepts and being able to answer Cisco-specific CCNA questions are two different things.

My goal is really to finally check the CCNA off my list rather than become a network engineer from scratch.

Resources I currently have:
CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide, Volumes 1 & 2 (2nd Edition – Wendell Odom)
Acing the CCNA Exam, Volume 1
Cisco U CCNA training
CBT Nuggets
StormWind Studios CCNA labs
Packet Tracer installed and ready to use
CCNA lab guide with a number of Packet Tracer-style exercises

My exam voucher expires at the end of September, so I have roughly a month and need to be pretty intentional about what I spend time on.

For someone with my background, would you recommend:
Reading the Odom books cover to cover, or using them more as a reference for weak areas?

Using something like Acing the CCNA as the primary read and supplementing with Odom?

Prioritizing Packet Tracer/labs over additional reading?

CBT Nuggets vs. Cisco U for video training?

Any particular labs/configurations that you would consider must-do before sitting for the exam?

I’m especially interested in what actually helped people pass the current CCNA, rather than collecting another 100 hours of study material.

If you had about 3–4 weeks, already knew general networking, but were rusty/inexperienced with Cisco CLI, what would your study plan look like?

I got my exam next thursday and for the last two weeks i’ve been using mainly boson exams to study and getting 88/90+ on them except for my first try on Exam A ( failed with 78% ), for those that used boson and have taken the actual test I wanted to know if you feel that there are certain topics that were on the exam and boson didn’t test you well on them so i can take some time to revise and not take the risk of forgetting to do it and getting them in the exam.

Alright, I followed the video on STP (JIL - day 20) and I understand the general concept and how to label what is what. However, when I get to the part where you look for the non designated interface, my brain seems to, well, not work anymore. Can someone, in plain language, explain to me how to find the non designated interface? Cheers!

Hello tech Reddit! I'll be attempting my CCNA before the new exam replaces the 200-301 so Ive got exactly 5 months lol Im already halfway through Jeremys IT lab and will be purchasing Boson Exsim-Max practice exams as soon as I'm done. Im averaging 2-3 lessons a day so I expect to be done with JIT in less than a month then spend the rest reviewing and on Boson. Just context, I work for an MSP and have been a tech for 3 years dealing with all kinds of enviornments, from an admin side and an onsite physical setups side, MSPs throw you at everything. I have a home lab at home and even some real cisco network equipment and of course I practice with packet tracer. The difficult part of taking on these challenges is time. Life never slows down, I have so many life events coming up that demand my time but I try my best to devote a lot of time to this because its also building myself up to be able to provide a better future for my family. I'm sure the answers are on this subreddit and someone will comment "read the wiki" which I will! lol but from some of you CCNAs I was wondering if you could share your insight into the CCNA and where you'd focus your time the most if you had to do it all again? also is there any resource I'm missing? Any an all advice is welcome!

Does anyone else have issues copy/pasting in NetAcad? I usually write my notes down, but I'm trying to start working smarter, not harder so I started typing them instead. I was able to copy paste for a bit, but not anymore. No idea what changed except that I fumbled my keyboard and that weird pop up that shows the screen code popped up, and I exited it out. Other than that, nothing happened- nothing that I noticed.

Is there anyway to fix this? Typing everything word for word is slowing me down and I've already fucked up and am behind where I need to be. Any insight helps.

I’m due to take the exam soon, what is the exam like, did you find it easier than the practice exams?

So Hi there fellow mate, I guess you are preparing for your ccna exam so am I, first of all I am not here to sell you anything at all, I have a genuine question from you, lets say you are at a dentist appointment or travelling in bus or have a free lecture cause your professor got sick or 1000 of those short timings where you could learn but definitely don’t want to type alot or fiddle alot or dont have the place to keep a book, if I share something I am making for this would you guys be intrested in critiquing my work and letting me know your honest view ?

Once again this is not paid at all and never ever will be paid, it is a video I am generating and it does cost me like 1.6k$ so far and I am on chapter 2 but its alright as long it helps, and I will not say it will teach you absolutely everything you need to know but it will familiarize you with some terms so when you actually open the book or go for study, you will relate very well

I am on day 24 of Jeremy's IT Lab (dynamic routing). Should I buy the Boson practice exam now, or should I buy it after completing the course? Also, can anyone help me with revision? As I move forward, I feel like I am forgetting things and commands from the previous lectures

Magic numbers were helpful, but some questions required more than that, especially when I needed to work through different subnetting scenarios quickly

Can I skip the RIP and EIGRP video from Jeremy's IT Lab? It is a little bit hard and boring. He mentioned that it isn't on the official CCNA topic list, so I wanted to ask if it is safe to skip??

Hello guys, I have a question and was wondering if you could help me. Is it okay to use a trunk link between two Layer 3 switches? I read somewhere that we shouldn't use trunks between L3 switches, only between L3 and L2 switches. Is that correct?

I spent a long time staring at routing tables like they were ancient hieroglyphics. The

rows and columns looked like a random wall of numbers and letters, and I had no idea

how a device was actually reading them to make decisions. Every time I tried to study

them, my eyes would just glaze over.

Then I thought about how we use GPS apps when driving to a new place. When you turn

on your phone, it does not hold the entire map of the world in its active memory. It just

looks at a short list of available directions to figure out the very next turn you need to

make to get closer to your destination.

A router routing table works in the exact same way. It is just a cheat sheet that tells the

device where to send incoming data next. When a data packet arrives, the router checks

the destination address on the packet and scans its little cheat sheet to find the matching

network. It picks the best available path, hands the packet off to the next hop, and

forgets about it.

Once I stopped looking at those tables as giant math problems and started seeing them

as simple lookup lists, everything changed. You do not need to memorize every single

entry. You just need to understand how the router compares the destination address to

its list of known paths. If you are struggling with this part of your studies, try writing

out a tiny manual list of destinations and next steps on a notepad. Seeing it written in

plain English makes the digital version much easier to digest.
