Found a dog in Highland Square

I have been taking care of this dog for about 3 days now. I found her scared, dehydrated, and huddled in a corner of my front porch in Highland Square. She has no collar. My vehicle isnt currently in working order or I would have taken her in to get any chip she has read already. But I expect to take her to Summit County Animal Control in the next couple days.

Just saw a lost puppy

About 15 minutes ago I was on Waterloo Road just past the intersection of S. Main and saw an adorable white puppy with black spots in the road by Holy Cross Cemetery. He looked like possibly a beagle. I think he was trying to eat some road kill. Not sure if anyone is missing a young dog but wanted to throw it out there. If there is another subreddit better suited, please repost.

Exterior Hail damage contractors

Any recommendations for an exterior contractor who can quote using the insurances quoting software and print quotes in the same software/format as insurance claim adjusters? We have hail damage and I don’t trust storm chasing contractors.

New To Akron

Hello, all! My partner and I just moved from Pennsylvania to Akron for work. I'm originally from Youngstown, and most of my family is scattered across Warren, so I have family here, but what I'm looking for is friends.

We're both early 20s queer people seeking friends in Akron. I saw a little bit ago (2yrs) an Akron Trans Discord server here, and was wondering if that's still around! This is our very first apartment, and first home away from living with our parents, and we'd love to find some folks to hang out with and talk about the experiences of being young adults in the modern world.

My partner is a veterinary tech, I'm an artist, and we're both heavy into art + fantasy. Definitely hoping to find a D&D group soon!

Thank you for reading my lil reachout, and it's nice to be here in Akron with all you lovely folks!

Glass recycling in Akron

Do you all like these glass recycling drop sites? I’m trying to get a curbside program going.

Edit: thanks all for the comments. Some of you mentioned you’d welcome a curbside glass program, so I hope you don’t mind me plugging my business, Cullet Ohio. Please check it out.

Wedding Venues

Hi! Looking for anyone’s positive or negative experiences with the following venues:

Has anyone had or attended a wedding at Occasions Party Centre in New Franklin?

Secondly, Tudor House Mason’s Cove?

Third choice, possibly Gervasi Vineyard specifically the outdoor pavilion?

Or, any places similar to these spaces? Indoor/outdoor, on the water. Looking to keep $ reasonable and not outrageous.

TIA for any info! 😊

Breed specific legislation in Hudson?

I am trying to determine if there is breed specific legislation in Hudson. Google searches indicate yes and even cite a specific city ordinance (618.16) but the actual city ordinance makes no mention of specific breeds.

Did the city have BSL and recently repeal it? If it's still in place, can anyone point me to the specific ordinance?

Bar scene options?

I have some friends (all women mid-20s) coming into town for Labor Day and I’m still pretty unfamiliar with Akron area. Anyone know some fun bars we could hit? Our usual scene used to be downtown Willoughby but then I moved😂 so anything similar to that vibe?

I have a good size gap in my driveway that I believe needs backer rod. Anyone have any recommendations for who to call? Not sure the concrete companies want a relatively small job. Thanks!

My partner & I are seriously considering buying a home in/near Akron

Without getting our hopes up in case these homes sell before we can put in an offer, we saw two homes in Akron, one right on the outskirts of Highland Square and the other right off Copley Rd. We like both of them, and are interesting in living in/near Akron since we both work in Akron. Any concerns about those areas that anyone can think of? Anything we should keep in mind/consider? Specifically, one of the homes is on Wildwood Ave and the other is on Mull Ave. Thanks in advance!!

Pizza Shops that sell Burritos?

So I’m new to the area. I actually live right outside of Akron, in Barberton. Where I use to live was a pizza place called Pink Door Pizza. They mostly specialized in pizza (most known for their “Door Buster” pizza that was HUGE!) but also made great subs and, my favorite, burritos. I have yet to find a pizza shop around here that sells burritos also. They made Americanized style burritos different than anything I’ve had anywhere else. Does anyone happen to know of a place like this around here?

looking for housing recs (no pests)

Hi all, recently moved to Akron for school from out of town. It appears that the apartment I'm staying at has a roach problem... yay! I really cannot deal with this right now, so I am thinking about moving locations. My price range is no greater than $1000 a month. If I'm actually going to go through with this, then I will presumably have to pay to leave my current lease early and pay a deposit on a new place, so I need to be as sure as possible that wherever I move to does not have a similar problem. I can really put up with almost anything except roaches - crime, mold, whatever, just no bugs. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I also have looked into a few places and I was wondering if anyone who has lived there can attest to their lack of pests; of course I realize that even the cleanliest place might have a stray bug a couple times a year, I can live with that. But just no major issues:

- Seven Stories West

- Merriman Valley Apartments

- Hampton Knoll

- Tower 80

- Dominion Townhomes

- Cypress West

Loose dog running around? (West Akron)

Best update!: Dog has been captured and is in good hands with Rubber City Rescue! 8/30 @5pm

Original: Hello! Sorry I don't know where else to ask- maybe my fellow Akron redditors can help?

There is a dog that we've seen running around our road/ area over the past few days. I have seen it from afar, it's a big dog (I mean BIG) like a greyhound - maybe Grey or darker in color, but he was too skiddish. Too skinny to be a pitbull or other bulkier breed, but very tall.

I believe animal control is closed on the weekends. He looks like he's becoming extremely thin. I'm worried because my own dog passed away unexpectedly on the edge of our property a couple months ago, so I don't know if there may be toxic plants or people inappropriately leaving out poisoned food due to coyotes.

I've tried searching petfbi and those kinda websites, noting that looks even remotely close. I hate to think of his family missing him or if he's been dumped. :(

Update 1: Rubber City rescue (I think was the name) came out this morning, as well as someone from Barberton lost and found pets. They set up a (humane) trap, so we'll be checking that if he stays nearby. But... again, the risk of trapping a coyote instead makes me nervous. 😅 Fingers crossed! If anyone finds any info on possible owners, please let me know! You've all been great, thank you fellow animal loves of Akron. :)

Update 2: they caught him!
