Should I wait for a potential next gen Surface Pro 12-inch
Currently eyeing up the Surface Pro 12-inch for my general day to day productivity. I personally think the current gen is more than sufficient enough for my needs but I also don't mind as much waiting if there's a rumored next generation in the works or there's a probability one comes out in the next year, banking on the chance that it comes with the newer gen Snapdragon processor and improvements to the display or whatnot. Regardless, would that kind of wait even be worth it or is it completely fine I just get it now?

Unless support gets dropped, battery life gets worse, or you personally just want to upgrade, wait until there’s signs that you need to upgrade

Like others have mentioned, idk if we'll see another one anytime soon, buy now if you really want / need it. Pricing sucks of course but it is a very good compact Windows machine.

I don't think there is an new 12-inch Surface in the pipeline. And anyway, when it comes out, if it comes out, it will be so expensive that you might be better off with something else. The 12 inch was placed in the price-range of around 100-200 euro less than the 13-inch Pro 11. So if one would come out now, it would probably come at a starting price of around 1400-1500 euro. Not really the budget option that the 12-inch is supposed to be.

For me the deal breaker was that the keyboard can only lay flat.

I agree with this 100%. It is a very uncomfortable device. The keyboard and the kickstand make it have a huge footprint on your lap or desktop. The flat keyboard is uncomfortable. I don't know why they didn't make it tuck up like all the previous keyboards. Probably to save a few pennies. I'm also not impressed with the Snapdragon processor. For the money there are better options out there.

The main holdup would be graphics. The X series CPU (even tho it’s 8 core) is perfectly fine.
To be honest, I don’t know how much better an 8 core X2 is graphically. The 10 and 12 cores are much better than their predecessors, but they have different gpus than the lowest tier X2 does (which would replace the current X1).

I might jump on one...if they make it in black. The black Pro 11 and the Laptop 7 both look fantastic in black. But word has it that nothing has been committed for a black 12-inch yet.

They already launched at the end of June (I believe it's the very latest launched product, but I can't guarantee, you never know what you missed) the 2026 version of the 12" which is the same except with Microsoft pocketing half the RAM .

There are currently no rumors in the rumor-mill about another 12" at this time. It may end up being the next abandonment just like the Go line.
The Pixelsense display punches above it's weight. No real need for an OLED. Missing out on adaptive refresh but the display does go up to 90hz.
I've had one for work since launch and bought a 2nd for home about 2 months ago since I liked it so much. I am biased in liking the current iteration.
