I’m not sure narcissism or not but she certainly either picks the wrong men or more likely doesn’t know how to compromise and move on from being hyper independent to interdependent

39

u/Morningfluid 12h ago

Based on her behavior, I lean in on her being the problem. Ben broke up with her for telling/showing extensive parts of their marriage all for the sake of showbiz without telling him. At her age she should know better. Not to mention she goes through partners like track runners go through shoes.

6

u/free_terrible-advice 8h ago

Hey, when I was a track runner my main shoes lasted for at least 1 year and my competition shoes were good for two years!

I'd never have such an unfaithful relationship with my shoes.

18

u/ritarepulsaqueen 10h ago

ben cheated on his previous wife with his children's nanny. He's a known drunk. I think he's also a problem.

13

u/Morningfluid 9h ago

For sure, but by most accounts not in that relationship.

She's pretty much a mess in every other aspect of her life but surprisingly seems like a good mother tbh

42

u/Sufficient-Neat-1604 11h ago

Narcissistic moms can be good moms up until a certain age. Once the child gets old enough to try to have agency over themselves that’s when the abuse starts

14

u/Breezyrain 10h ago

From what I've seen, she's been good to her kids and her exes kids. Ben's daughter is 20 and her twins are like 18 and going off to college. I think she's probably fine.

28

u/_Bene_Gesserit_Witch 9h ago

Without talking to her children you just don't know that. Narcissists are pros at putting forward a polished unitied family front. They also use them to better their image. Happy family photo opps built on love bombing and the like.

Often they seem like great mothers to other people, because to them the perception of them as a great parent is more important than the needs of their child.

2

u/AzucarParaTi 6h ago

Yeah, how would anyone know if she's a good mother besides her own children? Everyone always told me I was so lucky to have my parents. They acted perfect and caring in front of other people. Not even our own family knew the truth.

No one knows what life is like behind closed doors.

But the memories this guy has !!!

18

u/Hilarity2War 18h ago

In a technical way (so not political) does President Trump count as one or two?

13

u/Ghibli_Guy 18h ago

Technically, two. He'll go down in history as the 45th and 47th president.

In his mind, it's a harder call: is he just the 45th? Or the 45th, 46th, & 47th? The world may never know...

5

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 11h ago edited 9h ago

Yep. Two consecutive terms is the same president. Obama is just 44. Trump is 45 and 47

(I know I'm basically just repeating what you said but in case anyone needed an extra hand hold through it)

Edit: Grover Cleveland was 22 and 24. So while only 45 men have been president we are on the 47th presidency. Vice presidents taking over counts as a new one too. JFK was 35 and LBJ was 36

My guess is she's always "chosen herself" -- thus the divorces. The language used to rationalize toxic feminity is so ridiculous.

307

u/oleander_sigh 18h ago

The mental gymnastics people use to excuse toxic behavior are honestly wild.

5

u/Fzrit 6h ago

What really baffles me is why guys kept going for her despite knowing her history of divorces/engagements. Are they stupid?

162

u/Dr-McLuvin 18h ago edited 11h ago

Ever see that video where she went back to her childhood home and meets the people who live there now?

She’s like “hi I used to live here” and the dude just stares at her blankly like “ok?” I’m pretty sure he had no idea who she was and didn’t give a shit it was pretty funny.

85

u/ZookeepergameNew3800 18h ago

I got the impression the guy was like „ we lived her since 50 years, never saw you „, it was obviously bs on her part to seem relatable.

Most rich and famous people are extreme narcissists. It takes a special person not to go over to the dark side after having their ass kissed by literally everyone their entire life.

15

u/ivanna_suggit 12h ago

This is also why the terms “toxic femininity” and “femcels” are on the rise.

Social media and dating apps are creating a new breed of women (and sometimes men) who get bombarded with attention, compliments, and validation 24/7 online. It’s why so many are trashing men for not being good enough anymore while they’re living in a fantasy land propped up by simps, algorithms, and bots

4

u/StockMotor7788 11h ago

I won’t say this is the only problem with current dating scene, but it’s a definitely on the list of 1-2 dozen things imo.

Not a gender problem necessarily, just our current world has made it increasingly difficult for people to really connect on certain levels for some reason.

Maybe it’s just me, but relationships just felt so different before. I often wonder if it’s because Covid era helped social media become so embedded in everyone’s lives — which sorta enforced the negative traits of media dependency encroach on personal and sociocultural aspects of our lives. Shit just doesn’t feel the same anymore.

I always felt she was in love with being in love. Her main character/diva personality is so strong, she couldn't possibly really share herself with a partner.

81

u/bmoreboy410 18h ago

Right. All of those relationships didn’t end because she was prioritizing someone besides herself. So nothing has really changed.

42

u/micromechanist 18h ago

Jenny has indeed been around the block more than a few times..

8

u/Relative-Relief-8816 17h ago

But she is from the same hemisphere as the block. And she won't forget that.

3

I was wondering the same thing so I googled it. She has been married 4 times, engaged to one guy but not married, and engaged to Ben Affleck twice

14

Toxic toxic toxic. And I don't even give a shit about her. It's the whole single life self love cope in general that's poisoning womens' brains these days.
