Made a new mod for marketers in Qatar. Any suggestions to started with or how to build the community?

I work on the manufacturing side of the garment export business in Delhi - sampling, production, buyer communication, the whole cycle. Made this because I couldn't find a place where buyers and factories actually talk to each other without it being a directory listing or a LinkedIn pitch.

The idea is simple: if you're a buyer (wholesale, boutique, sourcing agent, merchandiser) trying to figure out MOQs, vet a supplier, understand FOB pricing, or just vent about a shipment that's late - post it here. If you're on the factory/manufacturing side and want to explain why something works the way it does, or answer a buyer's question honestly instead of in sales language, that's welcome too.

A few ground rules up front:

• No DMing people who post here trying to sell them something. There's a weekly thread for that.
• Be specific. "Message me for details" posts get removed -actual questions and actual answers only.
• Confidentiality matters. Talk about how things work without dropping private deal terms or naming people/companies in a way that burns a relationship.

I'll be posting real questions and situations from my own work here to get things started - not trying to make this about any one brand. If you buy or sell garments out of Delhi (or deal with Delhi manufacturers from anywhere), you're in the right place.

I am a very new mod and creator of a subreddit and I am confused on how to do most things

Hey New Mods!

TLDR: Shuffle-it is a Devvit App you can install within your subreddit. It's main function is fetching random posts from within your subreddit which can promote member and lurker engagement by re-surfacing posts that people may never have seen otherwise. Try it out on r/piercing, r/witchcraft, or r/VitaminD.

One of the hardest problems with a new subreddit is that people mostly see what’s at the top of the feed. Reddit naturally favors newer posts that are actively getting engagement, so older posts gradually get pushed down and stop being seen. This happens slower in a small subreddit, but the problem is the same: visitors read a few posts and leave, while months of good content sit buried underneath. The community might have plenty to explore, but to a new visitor it can still feel empty.

Shuffle-it is a Devvit app that addresses this directly. It adds a button to your community that sends a member to a random post with a single click. Think of it as a version of the old r/random (or StumbleUpon if anyone remembers that), except scoped to just your subreddit. When someone clicks it, the app pulls from your community's top (all-time), hot, and new listings and drops the person straight onto a post. The list is cached and refreshed about every six hours so clicks stay fast.

The reason this matters for growth is that it changes how people move through your subreddit. Normally a visitor scrolls the front page, maybe reads one or two things, and leaves. With a shuffle button, a bored visitor has a low-effort way to keep going, and each click can land them on something say from six months ago that they never would have scrolled to. More posts seen means more chances to comment, upvote, or subscribe. It also quietly rewards your older contributors, because their posts stay in circulation instead of dying after a day.

How you can show the "Random" button

You get a few options and you can use any combination of them:

• A "Take me to a random post" item is added to your subreddit menu automatically on install. Nothing to set up, and it works right away for everyone.
• An optional on-page button you add as an actual post, then pin it or drop it into your community highlights. Its size is adjustable, from a tiny 96px button up to a full 512px card.
• An optional sidebar widget that links to that post. This is the lowest-footprint option because it stays visible without taking up a slot in the feed.
• An optional scheduled "spotlight" post. On the days and time you choose, the app posts a fresh interactive shuffle post to your feed. Because it's a new post rather than a pinned one, it actually reaches people's home feeds and gives them a new entry point. The previous spotlight is removed automatically so they never pile up, and your pinned post is never touched. You can also fire one off on demand from the mod menu.

Mods have control over what the shuffle lands on

This is the part that matters most for a small subreddit, because when your post count is low you might not want the shuffle to land on something you dont want it to. You have a few tools for this:

• Flair filtering. Draw only from certain flairs, or exclude flairs you don't want surfaced.
• User exclusions. Keep specific accounts out of the pool entirely, which is useful for bots, a recurring announcement account, or a spam-prone user.
• Locked and archived post filters. Turn these off and the app checks a post's live status at click time, so a post that got locked after being added still won't show.
• A curated pool. You hand-pick the exact posts the shuffle is allowed to land on, added straight from any post's Mod actions menu. You can have the shuffle draw only from that list, or blend your picks into the automatic pool so they're always eligible on top of the normal random selection. The full list is kept on an auto-maintained wiki page so your mod team can see what's in it.

For a brand-new subreddit with less than a hundred original posts, curated-only mode is probably the right starting point. You pick your best content, the shuffle only ever shows that, and you widen it as the subreddit fills out.

Visibility stats for mods

Each shuffle post shows a live counter of how many times it's been used, and there's a moderator stats view showing your community's overall shuffle activity. That gives you a way to tell whether the button is actually doing anything before you invest more in promoting it.

The app works in light and dark mode, on desktop and mobile, and it doesn't create any post on its own when you install it. Everything beyond the menu item is opt-in.

Hello new mods. My community is only 2 weeks old. The insights tell me I have 3 members and almost 300 visits. I regularly post very interesting material and see that my posts are being seen by hundreds and shared outside reddit.

But...

I get zero comments. Zero upvotes. Zero interaction. It feels as if I am not on a discussion platform, but rather on a personal blog sharing my opinions. I tried polls and asking real questions I have no answer for, but no discussion ensued.

What do you think is going on? Are you having a similar experience? Reddit tells me that regular posting attracts viewers and members, but if I am the ONLY one who posts and receives no echo, wouldn't that discourage people from joining yours truly the maniac who has been talking alone for 2 weeks nonstop 😅🤣

We run photo subs and we noticed that there are some users who posted amazing pictures in the past, but their accounts were suspended and suddenly, all their beautiful pictures were removed.

Can I still Approve these photos / posts marked "Removed by Reddit" on the Mod Queue? These are just beautiful pictures.
