Obedience and absolute control is taught from a very young age. Obey your parents. “رضى الوالدين "

Emotional manipulation is normalized. "بلادك هيا بلادك" "معزز مكرم

Everyone has an opinion about your life. What you wear, how to talk, who you talk to, where you go, what you do. Your life.

Individuality is forbidden. If you want to live differently, people can see it as disrespecting the family, religion, culture, or society. "البس كما يعجبك و كول زي ما ياكلوا الناس"

There is a strong culture of shame. "حي** *شن* *بيقلو* *عليا* *الناس"*

The hardest part of this all from the day you were born, you’re giving very little chance to be a real human other than you’re just another member of the society.

This is obviously my personal experience. I’m curious if other Libyans, feel the same way.

I'm sick and tired of these sick people debating or who is his best tools is better who is blah blah, have you one of you actually have thought about his children future or his grandchildren future for a minute I know it the border is being put by some Invaders in the past I know our flags have changed a lot back and forth but what matters is when are we going to stand up like real men and let our conflict behind our backs and really just look in and show these MF's who the libyans are ?

هذا ما أخبرني به سائق سيارة الأجرة حين كُنت ذاهبًا الى مدينة بنغازي الحبيبة، والقريبة الى قلبي الصغير.
حيث يقال أن صديقًا له، قام بنقل إمرأة عزباء، جميلة الصفات، كبيرة النهدين. عندما كان يقوم بتوصيلة من مدينة البيضاء عروس الجبل، الى مدينة بنغازي عاصمة الشرق الحبيب، أثناء الرحلة شغل السائق المسجل، بالأغاني الشعبية، التى يتميز بها السائقون (على الخط)، واذ به يتفاجأ بإن هذه المراة ذات النهدين، كما يشار اليها، بدت بالصراخ عليه قالتًا؛ توقف ياهذا (وقف يا بوصاحب)، أنا لست بزوجتك أنزلني هنا. واستكمل السائق الذي كنت أنا راكبًا معه بالضحك على هذا الموقف، وبشكل غريب، وكما يقول الجيل زاد (awkwardness)، ومن ثم أستكملنا طريقنا الى مدينة بنغازي، على مسامع موسيقى الذكاء الاصطناعي، المزعجة، والتى كان بشكلًا عجيب مندمجًا ومستمتعًا جدًا معها.

While some try to glorify the past on September 1st, today is a reminder to honor the memory of every Libyan who suffered, sacrificed, and lost their lives under Gaddafi's rule.

​We remember the victims of the Abu Salim prison massacre, the students executed on university campuses, those who disappeared in regime dungeons, and the young men sent to die in unnecessary foreign wars like Chad.

​Four decades of oppression, destruction of state institutions, and mass corruption tore through families across the entire nation. No matter how difficult the current situation in Libya is, the sacrifices made by those who stood up for freedom, dignity, and justice will never be forgotten.

​May God have mercy on all the martyrs of Libya.

It blows my mind every time September 1st comes around and you see people unironically defending Gaddafi or wishing for the former regime.

​I don't care how bad the current status quo is—and we all know how corrupt and frustrating things are right now—there is zero excuse to defend a dictator who spent 42 years destroying the country. He dismantled the national army, wasted our wealth on useless foreign misadventures like the war in Chad, destroyed state institutions, and built everything entirely around himself. He ran a regime built on mass corruption, political executions, Abu Salim, and suppressing basic rights.

​The 2011 revolution happened because the pressure cooker finally exploded after four decades of oppression and destruction. The reason the country fell into chaos post-2011 isn't because of Feb 17; it's because Gaddafi made sure no actual state or institutions existed to hold Libya together once he was gone.Trying to glorify that regime or act like its supporters have a valid point ignores every piece of history and every sacrifice made by Libyans. How do you guys deal with people who still cling to Sept 1st? Is it just pure ignorance of history, or are people really that blind?

Whether it's green loyalists glorifying 42 years of tyranny or LNA supporters pushing for a new family dictatorship, the core problem is the same: the belief that Libyans need a strongman to rule them.

​February 17th was built on the principle that no single man, family, or military faction owns this country. Rejecting today's corrupt political class doesn't mean crawling back to the old regime or bowing to new military rule.
