I tried to post this earlier but had a link in, and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t post because Reddit thought I was promoting the link (to the fan.) This question is about a 36 inch exhaust fan and I had an example, but the brand doesn’t really matter in terms of the answer.
Hi Reddit,
We recently bought a home with a large (20 x 15) deck. We have a moisture problem in our crawl space, and this is causing a bug problem.
I strongly suspect that a lot of the moisture problem is because of the deck, and that also seems to be bug heaven (the deck.)
We’ve gotten some crawl space mitigation done by a professional contractor and also have a professional pest control company treating, but we need to fix the root problem obviously. I can’t really find a Reddit opinion or much information online, but I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts about exhaust fan install (by a professional electrician) to help mitigate some of the deck moisture.
The sellers had no lattice or anything else on the edges of the deck, and I let the deck guy talk me into deck boards (which basically sealed the deck, yes I regret it and yes I immediately realized that was a dumb choice THE MOMENT THEY FINISHED but I had 7 contractors here all at once and took their suggestion despite having wanted something else.) The moisture problem pre-dates us, though (termite-moisture inspection noted too much moisture but fortunately no termites or mold/fungus.)
I was thinking about this fan, is this a reasonable idea to mitigate the deck issue?
