I didn’t think it could, I’ve always seen things that said chatgpt or any ai couldn’t generate an image of a full glass of wine. Does anyone have an explanation of how this works?

A conservative media watchdog asked ChatGPT to rate how much of a threat to democracy Trump poses on a scale of one to 10. To which, ChatGPT responded with 9/10. The main reason it wasn’t 10/10 is because that spot goes to Hitler because he “ultimately destroyed Germany’s democratic system and established a totalitarian dictatorship," while the US still has some of its checks and balances still intact. Fox News inquired about it, and the response was quickly removed. Now it explicitly will not give you a rating if you ask. Chilling.

chatgpt is down and as i was taking out the trash my neighbor waved at me and said good morning. usually i just have chatgpt on a 24/7 call for situations like these but its down right now so i dont know how to respond to him. i told him to wait a few minutes before i can respond so hes standing waiting right now, please let me know how to respond to him

I’ve been playing with a photo-editing prompt that keeps the real person or pet from the original photo, but rebuilds everything around them into a much simpler editorial illustration.

it doesn’t completely redraw the person. It works especially well for photos where there’s already a little story happening, like family moments, kids with pets, travel photos, stuff like that.

the final result ends up feeling somewhere between a lifestyle magazine page, an indie art-book cover and a hand-drawn journal.

The main instruction I use is basically:

use my uploaded photo as the only visual reference. Preserve the main photographic subject and their identity, expression, clothing, pose and relationships as faithfully as possible. Remove unnecessary background clutter and redesign the surrounding environment as minimal hand-drawn doodles on warm ivory textured art paper. Keep the subject photorealistic, use delicate imperfect ink lines, restrained flat colors and lots of negative space. The final image should feel quiet, warm, refined and editorial, like an independent lifestyle magazine illustration. Output only the redesigned final artwork, not a before/after comparison.

Pretty simple idea, but I’ve been liking the results a lot.

During spring of 2025 I met very unusual symptoms. I had to quit my job because of temperature sensitivity and had some other hard symptoms. This was the time when I started to use ChatGPT. I don't remember how we got there, but eventually it said something like: "Yes, it could be Lyme disease, but honestly it looks more like Bartonella". At first, I was sceptic about it, but as we talked more, I started to think that this theory make sense. Eventually I got tested for Bartonella through Galaxy Diagnostics lab and it found that I indeed have a very high, the highest possible titer of antibodies for Bartonella infection. Even more curious, ChatGPT was able to predict exact stamp I had the most antibodies for. Isn't it kind of amazing? I know it might sound dry, but it pretty impressive for me how it all happened. I fine-tuned the good-old SDXL on 60 photographs from my childhood, using a limited family archive as the dataset through which to revisit that period of my life. Rather than reconstructing those images faithfully, the model produces unstable variations: spaces, faces and fragments that feel familiar without necessarily having existed.

This speculative study treats generative hallucination as an analogue for recollection: not the retrieval of a preserved image, but the reconstruction of a past from incomplete traces. This resonates with contemporary accounts of episodic memory as a reconstructive rather than reproductive process. The model becomes a kind of externalized mnemonic apparatus, situated somewhere between archive, memory and imagination.

ChatGPT went down today and what surprised me wasn’t just losing the tool. I noticed the absence of the interaction itself. When you use the same ai regularly thereis a rhythm that develops. It knows enough context that you don’t start every conversation from zero.You have certain ways of asking things, ongoing projects, little routines. Obviously the model isn’t sitting there experiencing a relationship with you but from the user side there can still be a real sense of continuity.Then the system goes down and suddenly that continuity gets interrupted.This was actually my first time experiencing an outage while I was actively using it. I was in the middle of working on something and then boom it stopped. I checked downdetector and the outage was confirmed.It made me realize there are probably 3 different kinds of dependency developing with ai

There’s tool reliance. I use it to help with research, organize things, etc.

The second is familiarity and continuity. I’m used to this particular ongoing interaction and all the accumulated context around it

The last one is more interesting to me: the thinking convenience.

There are plenty of things I now use ai to get through that I absolutely could do myself. In fact, I used to do them myself. It would just take me a lot longer like searching through information, comparing things, organizing my files, working something out from scratch.

AI made that process so convenient that I gradually stopped doing a lot of it the old way.

So when it disappeared for a few hours, I wasn’t suddenly incapable of thinking😂. I knew I could still do everything myself. I just didn’t want to go back to doing it that way.

It genuinely felt like somebody handed me a candle and said we’re going back to antiquity😂. So naturally my first thought was to outsource the task to a different ai.

I think that is a different kind of dependence than just ai does stuff for me.Once you get used to having something cut down the time and effort it takes to think through everyday things,tasks doing it the old way suddenly feels like way too much work.

That’s the part I hadn’t really noticed until chatgpt went down in the middle of something. I could still do all of it myself. I just realized how much I really didn’t want to anymore. If your main ai went down for a whole day what would annoy you the most: losing the tool, losing the continuity or having to go back to doing everything the old way?

I don’t curse at my chat-gpt. I have only used it to learn more about the world and the things that happen in it. It just recently decided to drop the word fuck on me? 🤣 I am much more surprised than concerned.

It has the memory of a fish, it doesn't remember in the same conversation what you said a minute ago even if you tell it to remember. Voice dictation is very clumsy when I transcribe my voice with the microphone, it takes a long time for what I'm saying to appear, and by the time I press Enter, half a sentence I had already said is missing.

In ChatGPT, voice dictation is much faster. Enter is also very slow, and the PC app runs slowly despite me having a powerful PC. I don't know, there are so many things that work badly that instinctively you end up hating it and preferring GPT.

It is look like a total shutdown. Don't log out right now cause if you do, you won't be able to log in again until the issues are resovled. This is only for APAC region.

How many of these annoying “Is Astra worse now?” type of shitposts do we have to tolerate? It was funny the first time…back in 2024.
