Practice Italics Practice
As always, 1mm nib, walnut ink.
I ran out of space for the last two lines, hence the smaller (height) letters.

I need an explanation. I recently studied the ars minor textura quadrata script. It needs to have a picket fence rhythm and there's an explanation 1pw is stroke, and 1pw is space between two strokes.
My pw is 3.8mm (pilot parallel pen), but at the 45° angle it is only ~2.7 mm.
And the space has to be 2,7 or 3,8 wide?
Sorry for bad english ;)

So the piece is a technical pen (micron) drawing first sketches on architectural drafting vellum. 8 pixels=0.1"
The piece measures 25.6" H x 8.8"V on a 30"x15" page.
I want to include in dipped ink calligraphy above and below the outer boarder of the map: "Hyrule" "The Legend of Zelda" and "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this" and then maybe a pencil signature.
The margins are equal top, left and right with some bottom weight.
Advice? Size of the lettering? Nib? Help on the hand/script.
I am using a 1.5mm broad tip. First picture is the text, then the map. Then some practice pages

Wanting to branch out and get into Arabic calligraphy. What specialty pens might I need and if anyone knows what would be a good online store to buy them from.
I'd like to do both a traditional script as well as square kufic, but as with any calligraphy its best to start simple. What resources are there online to help learn the basics?

This is the one element that my work has lacked of my 2 years in the hobby and I’m learning there’s various line-types that go and it’s interesting and will drive me forward in this craft in this fun pursuit of knowledge

I used a 4.5 mm pilot parallel pen for Uncial. I used a 3.8 mm parallel pen for italic. I had a hard time checking the text because the ink was very wet. That's why I made mistakes. It didn't bother me much either, but I wanted to share it anyway. So what did they say? Perfect is the enemy of good :))

I think today was the worst case of feathering for the small pen, I eagerly await the day it runs out of ink so that I can refill it with something more viscous.

Switched over to a Lamy Joy with a 1.9mm nib instead of a pilot parallel pen. Liking the results so far. Feedback welcome!

Im having difficulties finding resources of many types to get back into this craft. I want to look at stuff so I can see what I'm getting as far as books, worksheets etc.
Are any of you from Northern California that know of stationary stores that have a great section for calligraphy?
I'd also love to hear of good online stores as well. I've just gone down to many rabbit holes and lost now. Thank you 🙏🏽

Ive been in the fountain pen hobby for a few weeks now and wanted to expand to calligraphy. Ive been googling around and it seems those practice sheets are very popular. For example i found 10$ printable pdfs at calligrascape. Are these any good? Any better way to start learning? I have 4 pens, 1 fine, 1 medium, 1 flex nib and a 1.1 nib. I also have a 4pack of pilot parallels(1.4, 2.4, 3.8 & 6) coming by the end of the week. I also have a few bottles of diamine ink for my pens. I think i have what i need to start but any pointers on where to start is welcomed
