Mod The Calligraphy Marketplace 2026!

Hello Calligrafam!

We are changing the Marketplace from a monthly offering to a persistent post since there has not been enough activity to necessitate a monthly thread. If we need to pivot back to a monthly or quarterly post, we can adjust down the road.

Marketplace Rules

Calligraphy-related items or services only!

There is also an Approved Vendors list. If you are a vendor and would like to be added to this list, please message the mods with information about your products or services and links to your marketplace and/or website, and we will review and add approved vendors to this list.

BUY/SELL/EXCHANGE

  • First contact between buyer and seller may be made here; afterward, kindly conduct all other business through DM.
  • If you are selling work, tools or equipment, make sure to include clear images and details to prevent confusion and miscommunication.

REQUESTS/COMMISSIONS

  • If requesting a commission, you must confirm that you are willing to pay for the services and provide the desired text or a description of project, and general ideas of what you'd like so the calligrapher interested has an idea of what's expected. Calligraphers can comment on your thread to indicate interest, and then rates can be discussed over DM.
  • If you are available to do commissions, share some info and examples of your work so people interested have an idea of what to expect.
  • Do not request artists here to work for you for free.
  • Artists: Do not offer to do commissions for free or undercut other artists.

PROMOTION/SELLERS

  • Feel free to promote your YouTube channel, Instagram, or Etsy shop.
  • If you'd like to be added to the Approved Vendors list, please message the mods.

Mods reserve the right to remove any post for any reason. If any of these or sub rules are broken, post will be removed without notice. Repeat offenses may result in ban.

Mods are not responsible for any transaction made here; but if something goes wrong, let us know and we can take action within the sub (blacklist, bans, etc).

This is the one element that my work has lacked of my 2 years in the hobby and I’m learning there’s various line-types that go and it’s interesting and will drive me forward in this craft in this fun pursuit of knowledge

No Critique Mistakes seem very obvious, but focus on the depth of the aphorism this time.

I used a 4.5 mm pilot parallel pen for Uncial. I used a 3.8 mm parallel pen for italic. I had a hard time checking the text because the ink was very wet. That's why I made mistakes. It didn't bother me much either, but I wanted to share it anyway. So what did they say? Perfect is the enemy of good :))

As always, 1mm nib, walnut ink.

I ran out of space for the last two lines, hence the smaller (height) letters.

Critique I am developing a hand based on Rustic x Luxiel for lettering a map I drew of the original Legend of Zelda oberworld. I need some advice before inking the piecenproper. Details in the pics and detail text.

So the piece is a technical pen (micron) drawing first sketches on architectural drafting vellum. 8 pixels=0.1"

The piece measures 25.6" H x 8.8"V on a 30"x15" page.

I want to include in dipped ink calligraphy above and below the outer boarder of the map: "Hyrule" "The Legend of Zelda" and "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this" and then maybe a pencil signature.

The margins are equal top, left and right with some bottom weight.

Advice? Size of the lettering? Nib? Help on the hand/script.

I am using a 1.5mm broad tip. First picture is the text, then the map. Then some practice pages

Question Difference between 1pw and 1pw ;)

I need an explanation. I recently studied the ars minor textura quadrata script. It needs to have a picket fence rhythm and there's an explanation 1pw is stroke, and 1pw is space between two strokes.

My pw is 3.8mm (pilot parallel pen), but at the 45° angle it is only ~2.7 mm.

And the space has to be 2,7 or 3,8 wide?

Sorry for bad english ;)

Question Arabic Calligraphy

Wanting to branch out and get into Arabic calligraphy. What specialty pens might I need and if anyone knows what would be a good online store to buy them from.

I'd like to do both a traditional script as well as square kufic, but as with any calligraphy its best to start simple. What resources are there online to help learn the basics?

Here are two public-domain photographs from the Henning Collection (IAMPETH). The second shows Courtney (1867–1952) standing beside one of his blackboard creations. In a letter dated March 1, 1910, Madarasz praised Courtney highly, ranking him the best script calligrapher in the U.S.

WotD Temporada (spanish word of the day)

Post image
6 Upvotes

I think today was the worst case of feathering for the small pen, I eagerly await the day it runs out of ink so that I can refill it with something more viscous.

Temporada

Female noun.

Translates as: season, era, period, stage, time...

  1. A period of several days, months, or years that are considered separately, forming a whole. Examples: Temporada de verano (Summer season), la mejor temporada de mi vida (the best time of my life).

2.Time during which something is habitually carried out.

Examples: Temporada de Opera (Opera season), Temporada de ferias (fair season).

  1. In radio and television, a set of episodes, chapters, etc., of a series or a program that constitute a broadcasting cycle.

Examples: La octava temporada de mi serie favorita está siendo filmada (The eighth season of my favorite series is being filmed).

Switched over to a Lamy Joy with a 1.9mm nib instead of a pilot parallel pen. Liking the results so far. Feedback welcome!

Resource Calligraphy guides!?! Good!?!

Ive been in the fountain pen hobby for a few weeks now and wanted to expand to calligraphy. Ive been googling around and it seems those practice sheets are very popular. For example i found 10$ printable pdfs at calligrascape. Are these any good? Any better way to start learning? I have 4 pens, 1 fine, 1 medium, 1 flex nib and a 1.1 nib. I also have a 4pack of pilot parallels(1.4, 2.4, 3.8 & 6) coming by the end of the week. I also have a few bottles of diamine ink for my pens. I think i have what i need to start but any pointers on where to start is welcomed
