Co-op WaterlooWorks Megathread (Fall 2026)
This thread is for students applying to Fall 2026 co-ops during the Spring 2026 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
- Console One
- Lafarge
- Agentmoon
- WealthyPlanet
- Mosaic Transit Group
- Jobby
- Aethos Labs
- Onex Risk Management
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.
頑張って!

Serious UW account got hacked
I think my UW account got hacked. What do I do
I REALLY need access to the outlook for my UW today and it got hacked. Shit.
I got a random duo push from Virginia(???) which I didn't recognize and I declined. Next thing I know I'm locked out completely.
I didn't even get a chance to change my password, I got locked out.
I'm freaking out. IST service isn't on right now and tomorrow I'll be going to a flight for my coop 😭 I need my outlook email to access some documents for tomorrow. I have the printed copies but I need to verify some things.
aaaaaaaaa

Photo/Video Aftermath of September 2 storm
galleryI stayed in MC working and chilling until 10 pm when the storms are getting away. C2 basement’s labs are still flooded hours after the heavy rain - looks like it’s not going to be cleared for a while - and not surprisingly RCH’s lower 2 floors are all soaked.
Hopefully there’s nothing more than these - at least my dorm house has nothing even in the basement.

Athletics UW Apex Legends eSports Tryouts (& other games!)
Hi all 👋,
I hope all is going well :) !
I am the manager of the Apex Legends Gold team for the upcoming term(s) and just wanted to inform people that tryouts are open! People often miss the fact that UW has certain eSports teams and wish they had known about tryouts, so I'm here just to let people know that they are indeed open right now.
The form to tryout can be found in the Warriors Esports discord server (linked here: https://discord.gg/V2gUab5fT) under announcements, just scroll up a little bit, or in the link tree in the bio of the University of Waterloo Esports Instagram (not sure if I'm allowed to link it due to Rule #1. Personal Information on the subreddit, but it's handle is uwaterloogg).
There is a $10.50 fee to tryout for all teams, but if you're interested it's worth it!
Other teams include:
- League of Legends
- Valorant
- Rocket League
- Overwatch
- Marvel Rivals
Tryouts are open until September 10th, 2026, 11:59PM (about 7 days from now)!
So yeah, if you're interested in any of the games go ahead and try out! Best of luck to everyone who does and thank you for reading :). Take care!

Advice Not in the right headspace...
It's late right now but currently feeling very sad that I did not really achieve anything spectacular at waterloo. All my coops were not the best (deadend jobs that you can get without a degree and like small business type) and my old coop ghosted me about a chance of coming back (seems like they just said that previously to act nice.)... I've applied to jobs but barely hearing anything back... I feel so fucking miserable... Just looking at my parents I want to cry because I see them getting old and I am a complete failure. Grey hairs and seeing their mobility get worse. Fuck I just feel like shit rn.
Feels like the coop experience did not give me much help.
Looking at the people around me who also graduated. They got jobs lined up and/or were able to get jobs quickly makes it even more sad... I know comparing myself with others is terrible, but just wanted to type this out because there's really no one to talk to about it.

Has anyone tried the personal training provided by the university fitness center?
I am a true beginner at fitness and I saw the fitness center provides personal coaching on thier website. The price looks fairly affordable but I am not sure whether it is useful or not. How's its experience if someone has ever tried it?

Serious To the mf who is overstaying their lease in my signed unit
Get tf out. Stop overstaying past ur lease at ICON bitchass. Because of u I’m homeless rn. Fuckahh people at this university pissing me tf off
Also does anyone know what to do? I’m stressing. Cause I signed a full year lease with them and they (property management group) said it could take months for an eviction to take place and I’m supposed to move in tomorrow 💀
Edit: I’m being offered another lease at a separate building not affiliated because the mf refuses to move out. It’s more than my current rent and it’s further away. They still won’t cover the incremental costs but I’m contacting uw legal now. Thanks!
Fuck ass was supposed to move out in August btw

Question Are there any makerspaces/workshops open for any student to use?
Hi! I've been recently interested in learning woodwork or just making things in general and I was wondering if anyone knows any makerspaces/workshops/woodshops on campus (I'm not exactly sure what it's called) or nearby that allow any student to use. Thank you! 😊

is cs 136 required for swe coops as a math major?
So in my 1A term i took cs 135 and it was so so bad that i barely passed and my mental health took a toll. I started to think that maybe swe is not for me and i should pick another career, then after my first ai/swe engineer coop in summer,my mind changed and i really enjoyed that learning. The thing is i am planning to declare amath sci-ml as my major and i dont need cs246 or cs 136 as part of requirement and i can take cs 116 after cs 135 and still do my requirements. The problem is everyone around me says that u should take cs 136 after cs 135 and that if u wanna be a swe it is a must do course. CS 136 is very difficult and ik iwont be able to manage it with my other math courses 235 and 237. The question is should i still do cs 136 if i wanna do swe coops as a math major? becuase i will be doing a mix of swe , ai/ml coops after my major is declared

Will reneging affect J1 sponsorship
Hey UWaterloo,
Currently resigning from my current coop while also recieving a J1 work visa. When I contacted my coop advisor she stated vaguely that reneging could affect the approval for a J1 visa so I am curious how true this is, specifically what happens, and how to prevent this, thank you!
