This is my second time taking Human A&P 1. Does anyone have any tips? My TA is terrible. Their teaching style consists of reading the slides word for word then making us memorize what she just said and repeat it back to her for a grade. If you haven’t memorized the material by the time she comes over to you, she gets impatient. My first TA was nicer but still terrible. All she did was read slides word for word as well. Everyone that i’ve spoken to has said that most of the TAs for the department are terrible. I heard the lab director is actually the worst. I study until almost 2am every damn day, basically teaching myself the material. The only hard part about the class is that it’s SO much material. I really only attend class because of the attendance. I’m frustrated already and the semester just started.

There is a guy that will set up shop every now and then in UNT. He was here today (9/2) he sells jewlrey at an extremely high price. He buys everything he sells off of temu. He yelled at me and insulted my limp when I (kindly) called him out for this, and for lying to police officers. Every time he talked to an officer, he told them he got the jewelry from a different place. He told one he got it from India, another that he got it from Mexico, and a third officer he got it from Canada. He told me he buys it near the Amazon rainforest, and he told somebody else he gets it from Australia. DO NOT buy from him. He is a scammer, and a prick.

According to Arizona State University, whose student-faculty ratio is 18:1, “The student-to-faculty ratio [at ASU] of 18 to 1 ensures individualized support for learners.“ And 18 students per 1 faculty member turns out to be a pretty good average for respectable public universities, so ASU is hitting it just about right.

But UNT is coming in at a whopping 26:1! And judging by how quickly we are losing faculty due to the general chaos of President Keller's policies, we'll get a lot worse before it's all over. HINT: potential students and ranking organizations like US News pay attention to these things.

Has anyone known how the school is adjusting to the new CPT/internship rule affecting international students?

I’m a prospective student; the school told me two weeks ago that they were still working on it but I haven’t seen any updates since. Have currently enrolled students known anything internally?

This is actually a terrible place to live and if you're smart you will choose somewhere else.AC's are going out left and right. The maintenance guy must of got his degree/certification from la la dum dum land because his solution to everything is to paint over it. This place is literally infested with mold and they refuse to do anything about it. Also why are people paying for parking? This isn't some high end condo luxury living in New York City. No other apartment complex in denton or even in general makes visitors pay for parking. Their excuse is "the safety of the residents" and yet they allow residents to live with black mold spreading throughout their house's and rats and racoons running around. Management is neglectful and ignore complaints they also try to sneak hidden fees into your total rent in hopes that you also got your degree from la la dum dum land. I can't wait for my lease to end because i'll be getting the hell out of here I wish i could sue them for emotional distress because i've never felt so stressed in my life. If you aren't or didn't get your degree from la la dum dum land you'll avoid this place.

I graduated from the University of North Texas (UNT) in December 2025, and I am currently on F-1 OPT. I am an international student and now need to get health insurance.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether I am still eligible for UNT’s student health insurance plan while I am on OPT, even though I have already graduated.

If I am not eligible through UNT, what health insurance options would you recommend for an international student on OPT in Texas?

I am especially looking for a plan that covers gynecological/women’s health care, including regular gynecologist visits and related services. If anyone has experience with a plan that has good coverage for these services, I would really appreciate your recommendations.

Also, if you are an international student on OPT and have purchased insurance yourself, I would love to hear about your experience, including the approximate monthly cost and what company/plan you used.

Let me tell you about the horror story that is Redpoint. Right off the bat, the door knob to my room decided it was time to retire, falling off its hinge the moment I touched it. And let’s not forget the charming dog poop stains on the floor and the mold in the bathroom that was so artfully painted over. Truly, a masterpiece of neglect.

The management here is a real gem, especially with their pricing strategies. They have a knack for sneaking hidden fees into your rent, hoping you won’t notice. If you’re not on your toes, you might just end up paying more than you bargained for. And when the fridge started sparking and shut off, they graciously informed us it was because we were opening it too much. Their advice? Open it only once a day. Because who needs a functioning fridge, right?

Phone calls are a treat too. They love to avoid them and respond with the same brilliant line to everything. I was even locked out of my room once because the previous tenant decided to change the door frame but did such a stellar job that the door didn’t fit properly and jammed. So, I left my door open until someone came to fix it. Their solution to everything? Just paint over it. Problem solved!

The AC is another highlight, conveniently going out at night. Many residents are enjoying this feature as well. And the dryer? It literally sets off the smoke alarm every time it’s used, as it’s practically about to catch on fire. They charge exorbitant cleaning fees, yet the place remains spotless. I even spotted a raccoon rummaging through trash bags on people’s porches, which, while not their fault, was the final straw for me.

I’m now working with student legal aid to break my lease. Everyone raved about Redpoint, and it seemed like a great place close to school and the S loop. Maybe I should have done more research, but I’m sharing this to warn you: these student apartments are as predatory as they come. Always advocate for yourself, or you might find yourself scammed out of everything while receiving absolutely nothing in return. You’ve been warned!

I will be transferring to UNT next fall as a junior, and I’m trying to figure out what to do about housing. I’ve heard good things about some of the dorm buildings, but I will be a bit older when I transfer (24f), and really want more space to myself and a better parking situation.

Because of these things, I’m definitely leaning toward off campus apartments. However, I’ve seen so many negative things online about UNT off campus housing, so I’m not sure which direction to go. I really want to choose somewhere that’s within walking distance of the campus and on the shuttle route. When I think about that and factor in price, I’m leaning toward City Parc at Fry Street. The units aren’t quite as expensive as some other options, and it’s not too far from campus.

For anyone that’s lived there or know someone that lived there, how was the overall experience? I’ve heard people say there are bug problems at basically all of the complexes around there, but I’m hoping that requesting a unit on a higher floor will help with this. Are there really that many maintenance issues?

If you stayed somewhere else that you liked, I would love to hear about that too (furnished only please).

Edit: I’m hearing a lot about Charme on Eagle now, which I didn’t even know existed. It looks like a very nice complex, but am wondering if the higher price would be worth it overall.
